Although we mention that stripped base Camaros will be unusual inventory items, Chevy has significantly upped the standard 1LT content and it will have a lower base price according to Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager, who said, “We expect it will be even more popular as the 2016 Camaro 1LT is priced less than the 2015 model and offers significantly more standard features and technologies.” Here is a list that Chevy says was either optional or not available on base Camaros in the past: Chevrolet MyLink with Apple CarPlay capability OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot Driver Mode Selector with Snow/Ice, Tour and Sport modes on all models and Track mode on SS Remote vehicle starter system (with an automatic transmission) Driver information center with color display Keyless access with push-button start Rear vision camera Automatic climate control Leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel LED daytime running lamps Capless fuel filler Variable-ratio electric power steering 8-way power driver, 6-way power passenger seats Electronic park brake Driver and front passenger knee air bags The New Camaro RS package adds RS-specific grille inserts, a rear spoiler, 20-inch aluminum wheels, High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with LED signature lamps, and LED taillamps The 1SS Camaro gets all the goodies found in the 1LT and RS plus this content: Cooling systems for the differential, transmission and engine oil Brembo brakes with four-piston front and rear calipers Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 run-flat tires. Active Rev Matching (manual transmission models only) Limited slip differential (manual transmission models only) Configurable Driver Information Center Chevy's 2SS adds all the luxury goodies such as: - Leather heated and ventilated front seats - Wireless phone charging - Interior spectrum lighting - Heated steering wheel - Head-up display - Bose premium audio - Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert Christensen expects that fully two-thirds of Camaro buyers will go all-in and get the fully-loaded 2SS. The only other options not included on the 2SS many may add are magnetic ride control, the eight-speed auto transmission, in-dash Navi, and dual-mode exhaust and a power sunroof.

Initial reports were that the move would cut 1,000 jobs. Back in February Unifor explored its options. The contract the local union has expires fall 2016. GM seemed open to finding something for the Oshawa plant to do. GM Canada President Stephen Carlisle was quoted then as saying, "We could take any old generic product and say, 'what does the business case for that product look like in Oshawa versus some other place?'" This week it was announced that Chevy would shift more Equinox production to Oshawa. Steve Carlisle, president of GM Canada said "This new investment represents a very effective way for us to meet strong demand for the Chevrolet Equinox and it's positive news for our community." GM does not break out its Equinox sales in Canada, but in the U.S. market the Equinox was down 14% in July compared to last year. However, year to date sales are up. The slower recent sales could be product availability related.

The new 2016 Colorado Duramax will tow much more. The Colorado 2.8-liter diesel will tow up to 7,700 pounds in a properly-equipped 2WD truck, and 7,600 pounds in the 4X4 models with the towing package. Thus, the Colorado and Canyon will be the undisputed mid-size towing champions until some new truck is announced.

The Canadian model Buick Allure is also included. Prior models included in the recall included the Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy and Buick Rainier Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL. You can check your own vehicle to see if it is included on this recall at this GM Recall Checker. In our research we noticed that the Buick models also seem to be covered by the ignition switch recall, which should already have been dealt with.

GM says this is a product that it could import as soon as 2016. We are fond of Buicks here at GM-Trucks.com with staffers adding one to the family just this week. Would you consider buying a new Buick crossover if you knew it was one of the first vehicles imported to the U.S. from China? Either way tell us why you feel that way if you comment. Read the Freep story here:

Here is a quick breakdown of the present year to date sales of each in the U.S: Yukon XL Down 42% Yukon Down 14% Escalade Down 32% YTD Escalade ESV Down 11% Tahoe - Down 23% Suburban - Down 17% We were left scratching our heads. Yes, we all know that GM sells products outside the U.S., but we also know that Europeans turn their noses up at these vehicles which are about 1.5 times the width of their back-roads and that the Chinese pronounce the word car "Byu-Wick". Rather than speculate, we reached out to General Motors. Jennifer Ecclestone, handles communications for the Western U.S. and Arlington Plant and she replied to our inquiry in under an hour. The simple answer is that sales in Canada, Mexico, and the Middle East are responsible for all that overtime the good folks at UAW Local 276 busy nights and weekends. It is nice to see an American company building an expensive, high-quality product for export to other countries.

The Dallas News reports that the Arlington plant's 4,100 workers can produce up to 1,200 SUVs like the Chevy Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade, and GMC Yukon every day. Over the past few years GM has added workers and poured money in to the factory. It is currently undergoing a $1.4 billion upgrade. The Arlington plant has been in operation for 61 years.

Right now, sales of Cadillac's two volume vehicles, the new ATS and CTS sedan, are both down by double digits, while almost all vehicles are setting records for sales. A story in Motley Fool explains that one part of Cadillac's new strategy is to have "One car too-few" on the lot. In other words, make Cadillacs more scarce to boost sales. If you have ever tried to buy a BMW, you know that model. The idea is to build up the brand's strength in the customer's mind. Cadillac also has been making a lot of headlines with news of a new flagship sedan. This would be a very exclusive model, highly priced, and super-capable. If Cadillac wants to mimic the sales model of BMW, and perhaps the financial success of Lexus, it may want to look at the sales by model of those brands. In both cases, the least expensive models, selling in the $40K to $50K range dominate the total sales of each brand.

Watch the whole thing unfold at the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sw1YDxjg3Yc Chris Maynard, general manager of fleet operations, ASRC Energy Services commented on Chevy's support in the area, saying, “The Alaska market is pretty small, but GM looks at every sale as one of importance, so even the smallest problem gets special focus from a GM engineer, even if that means they have to send one to Alaska.”

The trucks look great too with their blacked-out bowties. Something Chevy is moving to more and more. Chevy says that running out of gas and issues with overheating are common at the cruise and will be glad to lend a helping hand. GM has been helping out for four years and has helped keep more than 150 classics with issues in the cruise.

John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 8/6/2015 First off, apologies for not posting up an image of a 2016 , but there aren't any official Chevrolet photos yet. That said, MotorTrend has a bunch of images of a car covered in camo wrap if you like those. The key element is the hood vents, or heat extractor. MotorTrend and others surmise those indicate the supercharged 6.2 is under the hood, hence the ZL1. The Z/28 used a normally-aspirated engine as you know, and Chevy made a lot of noise about that, so reversing direction and using a non-blown engine in the 2016 Z/28 would be odd. Of all the cars I have tested, including V10 supercars, aftermarket tuned Mustangs, hybrid supercars, and insane rockets like the Alfa 4C, none have impressed me more than the ZL1 on the track, and that includes the Z/28 and CTS-V. I tested both Camaros back to back with the CTS (which feels a lot like the Zl1 to me) on the track last October. If we get any official images we will post them up right away. The Volt has its ups and downs in terms of sales. Mostly downs of late, but the new 2016 model is significantly improved in so many ways it is hard to ignore. For example, the Volt now has an EPA-rated range of 53 miles. That is a whopping 40% increase in range over the first-generation Volt. EV enthusiasts (EVangelists) like to state at any given opportunity, that most drivers don't drive more than 40 miles per day. Typically that argument comes up when EV fans are trying to explain why we should not have range anxiety. That has never been an issue for the Volt, since it can run on gas and gas is everywhere and takes less than five minutes to fill up a Volt. In July Chevy sold 1,313 volts, topping the Nissan Leaf's 1,174 units sold. The Volt therefore was either the top-selling EV, or the top-selling affordable EV. Tesla doesn't say what it sold month to month, so we are never sure until it is forced to report by SEC rules. Either way, the Volt had a hell of a month (for an EV). The Chevy Volt has increased its sales in each of the month of 2015 and its run rate is now almost triple what it was in January. The Leaf's sales have declined significantly since last year when it had four 3,000+ unit months.

The workers at the Flint plant are represented by Local 598 of the UAW. UAW Vice President Cindy Estrada seems pretty happy with the changes in Flint and offers her view on how this came to pass, saying, “This announcement is due to the hard work and dedication of our UAW members in Flint." She added "...UAW members continue to come up with innovative ways to grow the business, which provides jobs and improves the quality of the products we produce. This is both good for the Company and good for our members.” Dayne Walling, the elected mayor of Flint Michigan, the city, also is pretty happy with GM right now. He was quoted as saying “In the last several years, GM’s investments in the city of Flint have topped $2.5 billion, creating hundreds of construction jobs and an economic boost for the community." We look forward to the sequel of Roger and Me that dives deeply into the way GM has benefited Flint, but we won't hold our breath.

So, just for fun, let's lay down out predictions. Here's mine. Initially, the Colorado/Canyon trucks with diesel engines should sell at a high margin. There are many people who want it badly. They will all have one by Christmas and they will pay near MSRP. Then more inventory will arrive and the folks that want one, but only at a reasonable price will buy one. These sales will be controlled entirely by GM since demand should outpace production. My prediction is it will roll out like this: Colorado Canyon Predicted Sales: - October/November 2015 - 20% (2,000 units per month) - December 30% (3,000 units total) - January, February, March, April - under 15% (1,500 trucks per month) - Sumer months (Diesel is cheap) - 20% - Winter months year two and beyond (Months that diesel is crazy expensive compared to regular unleaded) 10% Please post your predictions below.

2016 Chevy Colorado Midnight Edition First up is the bad to the bone Colorado Midnight Edition. The blacked-out including the bow tie Midnight edition offers an urban tuner theme. The Midnight Edition Colorado will be built on the LT trim platform, and yes, it will be available with the torque new 2.8 Duramax Diesel. Everything on this truck is black. The 18 inch wheels, spray-on bedliner and the tonneau cover. Black Black Black. 2016 Chevy Colorado Z71 Trail Boss The Colorado Z71 is already a tough off-road capable truck. For 2016 Chevy's Z71 Trail Boss edition adds Goodyear Wrangler DuraTec 265/65R17 all-terrain tires, bold fender flares and tubular assist steps. There is also an LED light bar, spray-on bedliner, and all-weather floor mats. The Colorado Z71 Trail Boss will be available on Z71 models with extended and crew cab bodies. Interestingly 2WD will also be available in addition to the obvious 4WD drivetrains. Yes, you can get the 2.8 Duramax. Oh, and Chevy loved the blacked out bowtie so much on the Midnight the Trail Boss gets those too. Chevy says that both the 2016 Colorado Midnight Edition and Z71 Trail Boss will be available this fall. Which would you prefer?
