  1. The tire shop fixed it, no questions, so that's good! Does anyone know the answer, though, just how much circumference difference is allowable between tires? This is making me wish I had a heavier duty tire on there, so I may end up replacing all 4 before these are done anyhow. I've had LT tires on a Jeep of mine with a good all-terrain tread, and I haven't had a flat on that vehicle in 10 years. Less than 5k miles on my truck, and a short little screw made it go hisssssssss. Just like owning a car again!
  2. I got a huge screw in the tread of my left front tire. Truck has 4900 miles and the tires are the stock Wrangler Fortitude highway jobbies. The screw is pretty close to the sidewall. I don't think the tire shop will give me grief, but if they do, I'll probably just find a shop who will fix it, and then run it as a rear tire only. But I actually don't know what would happen if -- supposed I actually needed to replace one tire. Would I need to do it in pairs because of the wear difference (should be minimal) or could I just throw a new tire on there with only 4900 (easy) miles on the other 3? I don't know the tolerances for the rear diff or 4x4 system. What would you do?
  3. Yep. My problem is with the "every time". I have no idea what causes it to continually ask for the password when it's already been input. The prompt seems to pop up every few weeks. Did the truck forget? I know what my password is, I'm inputing it correctly, it's the same password that logs me into My Chevrolet and Onstar Connected Services, I have active logins on both of those, although I am not a subscriber. I don't have wifi enabled, I don't use any other apps on the radio, never touch the Onstar buttons, so what the heck? Something's wrong or it's really, really bad programming. Are other people continually getting this prompt, or are you all OK just to peck in your password every dang time it asks? It's stupid.
  4. Yeah so this isn't a radio Theftlock password like the battery is changed - I've never had that come up in a newer GM vehicle but I remember from the olden days of the Delco brick radios. I have a valid "Connected Services" password from when I set up a MyChevrolet account a long time ago and the prompt takes the password when I put it in, and the message clears. But the message keeps. coming. back. Maybe once per month? And if I don't put in a password, it keeps asking even if I tap the "do not remind me" button. The password hasn't changed, and I don't know why the radio continues to ask for it. I don't use Onstar, I'm not part of any trial or Onstar subscription, and I don't use the MyChevrolet App for anything, no subscriptions, nothing.
  5. Even after vehicle updates the dang radio keeps asking me to "enter my password". I am not an OnStar subscriber and I don't use their MyChevrolet app but the radio keeps asking for a password. DID THEY NOT TEST THIS BEFORE IT WENT INTO PRODUCTION? What am I doing wrong? This is comical
  6. I started another thread detailing some warranty issues including this window leak from last month. They applied seam sealer to mine but I didn't have any cracks, just leaks from the top. Honestly they did a crappy job. But it doesn't appear to be leaking anymore.
  7. Alright, let's close this one out. The dealer took two full days, 7:30am the first day (which was actually the appointment time, they even asked if I was going to wait around while they diagnosed it) and had it until 5pm the second day when they were snapping it back together, to complete *checks RO* ...2.5 hours of labor by the book. They did TSB 20-NA-218 for the no-start issue and then decided they needed to "road test" the vehicle for 8 miles. They did TSB NA-18-383 for the leaking rear window and gave it back to me with the seam sealer freshly applied, still wet, and told me to keep it out of the rain. It was beginning to rain. They spelled my name wrong, wouldn't take my calls today (they randomly called me at 5pm to tell me their tech was just finishing up), and gave me the truck back with the rear window all covered in stuff, unwashed. This is a small town dealer and they clearly suck. I hope they send me a survey
  8. Lol. That's definitely not me. But you are correct, it is one cause. Another is GM using crappy plastic-coated side bolsters on their leather seats, and weak cloth on their cloth seats. The increased ride height of a pickup doesn't help the situation, and most of them don't come with steps or running boards.
  9. I'm a big fan of the silicone slip-on fob covers mentioned at the beginning of the thread. Kinda wondering when GM is going to address simple wear issues which have a huge ROI on customer satisfaction. Things like keyfobs that fall apart, seat bolsters which show wear at 20k miles. $50k for a truck, you'd think they could spend the $10 extra to make those things a little more robust.
  10. The dealer has had the truck all day after a schedule 0730 drop off, and didn't provide me an update until 4:30 this afternoon. They completed a software update (which I assume was the TSB mentioned above). According to whomever was giving me an update (not the tech), they "didn't have time" to look at the leaking rear window today, and said they didn't encounter any problems with the truck h-h-honking at them while moving it around the service facility. I have a hard time believing a software update took any more than about 2 hours to complete, from pulling the truck into the service bay, to starting it to test the changes. I guess they're going to look at the window tomorrow? Didn't have time to throw some water on it today, so sure, keep the vehicle another day when a guy needs his truck back and has things to do...it's going to rain buckets on Friday, so if they could hurry the heck up that would be great. @GMCustomerService, this is how every visit is supposed to go, right? Just normal life in the modern era?
  11. Dropped the truck off this morning and I'm already in a bad mood. Service writer told me that unless it's *actually not starting* as in - right now - they probably won't be able to do anything even with the check engine light on and P12A6 code set. But they'll be sure to call in a few hours and let me know. I had to explain the key fob issues again and the guy just looked at me like I was stupid. I have low confidence that's getting fixed. What's next? the window isn't leaking enough in order for it to deserve to be fixed? No loaner vehicle, truck has been out of service since Sunday, everything "should" be covered under warranty. This little runaround jig that GM's dealers do is getting really old
  12. Thanks all, and thanks @GMCustomerServicefor offering to help. I suspect it could be related to the TSB posted above for the fuel pump module/driver. I called the local dealer and earliest they can get me in in Wednesday this week. They're going to have a look at the leaking rear window and problems with the passive keyless entry as well. Until then, the truck is out of service. The dealer said they didn't have any loaner vehicles available and needed to do a diagnosis before any of this is determined to be under warranty. Sigh. This will be my... (counts on two hands:) One, two, three, four, five, SIXTH! brand new vehicle I've purchased from Chevrolet since 2009, but that doesn't matter, every time, get in line! Hope to goodness it starts on Wednesday so I can get it down to the dealer.
  13. 2020 Silverado...5.3...4,300 miles on it. Drove to Home Depot, shut it off, bought something inside the store, returned to the truck, and it wouldn't start. It would crank for a few seconds and barely run, and then shut off. One last try before calling GM roadside to have them pick it up, and it sputtered for a few seconds and then went into a really choppy idle, and then smoothed out. Now it starts/runs fine but it has DTC P12A6 and the CEL is lit up. I'll get an appointment, but I'm guessing without an actual issue, the dealer's just going to tell me they can't replicate it? What do you all think I'm looking at here? Not happy with this truck...I'm going to have them attempt to fix the leaking rear window at the same time, and there's a problem with the keyless module...damn thing keeps honking at me even though the key is IN the truck with me when I get in, and it leaves with me when I get out, and I have the alert turned off....
  14. I've owned a couple different sets of Duratracs on different vehicles and they are one of the quieter/better all-terrain tires, but they aren't as quiet as a highway tire. Life is too short to be bugged by that kind of stuff, so if you'd rather have Michelins on your truck, then do it My Silverado came with Wrangler Fortitude HT's. Not awesome, but good. More of a highway tire than an all-terrain, but good in wet conditions, and is something I'd feel confident running on gravel roads.
  15. All the full-size brands have something I like for different reasons right now.
  16. 2020 Crew built in Silao, 9/20.... 2,135 miles as of today. I have drips on both the left and right inside of the window. There's a rail at the top that ends about 2" before each side and it appears it's coming down from there. **** Not sure if I should try to warranty or seal it myself.
  17. Even though I enter my password, it comes back after some time. 60 days? 30 days? It's every so often, that's all I know. C'mon, GM, this is a pain in the ***
  18. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who do not appreciate the freedom and responsibility of driving, and would prefer someone else, or a machine, do it for them. Or they think their time is worth more than paying attention on a monotonous drive. I want absolutely nothing to do with it. Machines sometimes do things better than humans can, and I don't care. I prefer to drive my own vehicle.
  19. I am of the understanding that driving in any "L" gear/ driving in Manual Mode does NOT disable DFM. This is a change from the AFM trucks, where selecting an L gear in manual mode would disable AFM. Can anyone confirm this?
  20. The only thing I'd add is, it's still important to check the dipstick. For my bigger truck, I am used to buying 1 gallon jugs. Imagine my surprise when I accidentally grabbed the 1.25 gallon variety (5 quarts instead of 4, the jugs really aren't much bigger visually). Poured them in, thinking they were gallon jugs and went about my routine---until I checked the dipstick. OOPS! OH, and I think all us DIYers have a story about spilling used oil
  21. If I wanted a ceramic spray wax, something to lay down and wipe off after a thorough wash and clay, what should I go with?
  22. ^^^This. Don't add another full quart. You might have capacity for ~ a third of a quart, maybe, if you want to top it off. But within the hash marks you are fulfilling the obligations of the warranty and the owner's manual with regards to oil fill level. Do not overfill--the manual is explicit about that.
  23. Forest service/logging roads are about the extent of what I'll do with a Z71, and it is plenty capable for that. Beyond that and you're pushing a highway rig to do something it wasn't really designed to do. There are way better "out of the box" rigs that expand your off-roading capability. It will really depend on your intended use. Around here, "off road" anywhere off of a forest or logging road is....trails. Steep, rocky, with lots of soil and mud, and very tight between trees. A full-size is too big in almost every dimension, stock highway tires are woefully inadequate, and the gearing will burn up a trans real easy. A G80 rear isn't optimal for traction at crawl speeds. Most trails are best suited for a short-wheelbase vehicle with high ground clearance, and at least a selectable locking rear end. But yeah, if you live in farm/ranch country where gravel roads are a way of life and accessing land comes with a little mud and uneven ground, you'll be fine. But a trail rig, these are not.
  24. So, how about us 2019 and 2020 guys with the L84? Wait until the engine grenades? What's the estimated failure rate on the L84's anyhow?
  25. Or consider swapping to a larger tank, if you can. With a 1,000 gallon tank we only have to fill up once per year, we're in a mild northwest climate. At another property we only had a 500 gallon tank and propane service was kinda iffy sometimes. Having a 1k tank really reduces "tank anxiety"? Or, switch companies. Your driver is just a guy with a CDL and some company training. My guess is if someone paid him a buck more an hour he might have switched jobs.
