Shake or Vibration Issues
Jesse Davidson replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
I started that process a couple weeks ago. I live near Boston and contacted a firm who has already hired "experts" and has their top level class action partners looking at it. I pass information along as I find it, and speak with them 1-2 times per week. I spoke with them this past Friday and passed the apparent TSB from a few pages back along to them. They are currently still doing research, testing, and waiting on the report from their "experts" I suspect that I should have a better idea of where they stand and what we will be doing soon. If anyone would like to be added to the contact list I am sending them, PM me your name, email, and phone number. Even if you've already gotten rid of your truck, we still can use your case, and possibly recover some of your loss (assuming they feel we can go for that, I still don't know) Jesse -

I did that on Wednesday haha, when you print it, its actually 50 pages long, not 4. Dealer still said they couldn't do anything because my regional rep said they couldn't the last time I brought it in. My experience with the Chevy customer assistance went the same way today, although they said they would look into the matter and ask the reps reasoning for denying work. I'm so disappointed with GM I can't even begin to describe it. -

Well I sent the link of the apparent TSB from a few pages back to the attorneys that I have been working with, they were very interested in finding out when it was first put out (not published online) as well as determining whether it is infact the real TSB. I brought up the new issue with the A/T tires and they were interested for the point of false advertising. I told them how TireRack lists them as an All Season Highway tire, I spoke with 3 local tire shops as well as my dealer, and none of them consider the GoodYear Wrangler SRA an A/T tire. I also put in a call to the Chevy Customer Care (after talking to the attorneys to be sure it wouldn't affect them in any adverse way), when I informed them of all of the issues I'm having with my truck and what was happening between the dealer and the regional rep, they basically said that the regional rep is above both their and the dealers head, so what he says is basically it. I told them that that was unacceptable and requested a different rep, they said there is no other regional rep so there was nothing they could do. They did say that they would reach out to both my dealer, and the regional rep to find out what exactly was determined on their side. When I brought up the issue of the A/T tires, I informed them that I had checked TireRack, with three local tire shops, and my own dealer, which none consider it an A/T tire. The response was no different, they would look into it, but if it's what GM considers the A/T tire there is nothing they can do. again I reiterated how that was unacceptable and that since I paid the 350 upcharge for an A/T tire, I expect a real A/T tire, one that is accepted as one by all servicers, not just GM as that would be a true A/T tire, all they said was that they could try to look into it. I'm still very annoyed/ pissed off/ in disbelief at how poor GM's customer service/ loyalty is. Jesse -

let us not forget that even those trucks without the "upgrade" have WRANGLER SRA's which my dealer agrees is not an A/T tire, so no matter how you look at it, they owe us a better tire. I'm not paying an extra 350 to for the tire that come stock on the truck anyway. -

my dealer already confirmed that the SRA's are not an all-terrain tire, everyone knows that. confirmed by tirerack as previously mentioned, my dealer is looking into getting me real A/T tires, and has told me to urge everyone to contact GM Customer assistance at 1-800-222-1020 regarding EVERY ISSUE WITH THE TRUCKS.... even they are sick of dealing with the complaints http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Wrangler+SR-A&partnum=665TR8WSRAOWL&autoMake=Chevrolet&autoYear=2015&autoModel=Silverado+1500+4wd&autoModClar=Crew+Cab -

well, I got curious about the tires on my 18's, so I pulled out my window sticker and checked it. I paid an extra 350 for all terrain tires and have Wrangler SRA's... looks like I need to go back to my dealer for another issue haha this is an absolute joke -

Jesse Davidson replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
whether that's true or not isn't really our problem, we all want our trucks fixed. I believe at this point we can technically all take our trucks to our own repair shops and have the work done, and just send GM the bill, but i can obviously see issues with that as well -

The Eagle LS2's come on the 20" rims, the Wranglers are on the 17&18's, Dueller's are Standard on the 22's I believe the upgrade for all except the Z71's is the Duelers aswell. yes, the AFM is present in all trucks, it's just a matter of how bad, it is very bad in my truck particularly from mid 40's & up, Iv'e seen trucks that it is barely noticeable, I only noticed it because I was looking for it, If I didn't know about it, I wouldn't have thought anything of it. My steering wheel and pedals do have a vibe when slowing down, sometimes worse than others for some reason even on the same roads. do you think that some of the steering wheel vibe when going around curves referred to as "smooth road shake" which I also have could be related to the backlash? I have a couple theories of my own now after doing more testing this past weekend with Bill, - it was more humid, and the temperature was lower than the initial test, and the AFM vibes weren't as bad as normal, does anyone think the denser cooler air could be helping - the roads were wet after raining, I don't think that a wet road would make much if any difference, but again the vibes weren't as bad as normal - I had just filled up my gas tank to the full 26 gallons, has anyone noticed the vibes being reduced with a full tank or extra weight in the bed? - I swapped my 22's for the 18's (wrangler SRA) which obviously have a thicker sidewall so maybe it helped damping the vibes? regardless there was still vibes, and 18's - 22's shouldn't make much of a difference if any. -

is that what that is? I was attributing it to AFM attempting to kick in -

not sure if anyone already answered this, but I'm catching up on a few pages, the upgraded tires are the Bridgestone Dueller A/T RH-S 's -

I'm sure they already know how widespread it is, the dealers have to sent reports in every time they check something under warranty -

I live in MA, and got that same deal from the regional rep after my second visit, here we only have to allow 3 attempts before we can file and make the 4th the last attempt, not sure whether you meant that you had to allow 4 attempts and make the 5th the last or not. I hear ya on that, the service dept. at my dealership is fully aware and understand that we want our trucks fixed, but they can't fix something GM doesn't authorize otherwise they have to charge us or lose the money themselves, and neither of us will budge, so I got a lawfirm and we are filing a Class Action Suit, they are currently continuing their investigation into the matters but have indicated that it looks like a promising case I've lost hope in GM the instant that they said they wouldn't do any more work to try to fix my truck and told me to drive in "M5" to "help reduce the driveline vibration" I drove the 1500 Laramie in both the 5.7 & the 3.6 and they are amazing to say the least, but I was too nervous about their paint & body work, the price was also quite a bit higher than the Chevy.... which I thought was going to be a good vehicle, unfortunately its a vibrator with radio issues. I wish I had the Ram now, I refuse to take a loss, I'd rather go after and fight GM over the problems -

I'm really starting to think that the majority of the vibration is software related, and then transmitted worse than normal through the newly designed body mounts -

no, I'm just not going to bother registering the 18's, I'll re register the 22's when I put them back on haha -

this truck is getting weirder and weirder by the day. I just got back to my house, and when I put the truck in Park, the horn went off 2x, no clue why. the vibration feels worse at slow speeds today than it did yesterday. I havn't hit the highway yet today, so that will be determined in a short while. -

congrats man well thats better than nothing right? Thanks Bill, let me know when you have some time to go on that test drive with the 18's on, I'd like to get your opinion on how it affected the truck, it'll be interesting to see if you think it affected it the same way as I do. I'll be putting the 22's back on after so I think I'll take you up on the TPMS relearn tool for that. -

jesus, thats nice of them to do the registration for free, and good to know about it taking a while to register, I had them wheels swapped at the shop my family has been using for over a decade and just assumed they registered them with the truck. I have a bad knee so I didnt feel like changing them myself. thats bullshit to have to pay for shit like that, it should be like a bluetooth thing that automatically knows... anyway they can make a quick buck though i guess -

Ok, so I swapped my 22's (Bridgestone Dueller A/T RH-S) for my 18's (Goodyear Wrangler SRA with the whit outline, not black) and did a fair amount of driving today here are my impressions: The 18's lead to a very "floaty" feel of the ride, the road noise is also increased. The ride doesn't really seem to have changed at low speeds, the truck still has a light vibration, once I hit about 40-45 or so up to about 55-60 the vibration became much worse, even worse than the 22's, and a couple time the truck started to shake/ rock to either side. my truck has never done this before. above 60 mph or so, the vibration is about equivalent to the 22's. a second thing that happened was the TPMS system stopped working, when i swapped them yesterday, it was fine as was the case for the first 45 mins or so today. however once I hit the highway today, i got the "service" warning and the Tire Pressure light came on. thinking maybe I picked up a nail and was losing air or something, I pulled over and checked all the tires, got back in the truck and looked at the pressure readings, my right rear tire wasnt listed. I shut the truck off to try to reset it, but it didn't work. Shortly there after the other three tires lost their pressure readings. just to clarify, the rocking side to side happened after I lost the Pressure sensor system, no clue if or why that would affect anything, but I highly doubt it should. now for a question, I was talking to a guy with a new silverado today, hes had it for 800 miles now, and has had to replace the battery 4 times, also his radio will not turn off even after he turns the truck off, and leaves. he says that even 15 mins after leaving the truck, he can go back out and the radio will still be playing. I have found some posts from years ago indicating that it is either a relay in the door, or a switch sticking somewhere else in the truck. has anyone seen this in their new ones or heard of it being a big issue with other new trucks? I havn't so just thought I'd check, ohh and his dealer said that they think the radio is bad, but GM didnt authorize a replacement so they wouldn't spend $700 of their own money to try it. -

Jesse Davidson replied to MA-Silverado's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
yes, the AFM is directly related to the engine, however the Vibes I have are steering wheel, pedals, floor, seats.... basically the entire truck, I have done the water bottle test, and the vibe is just like most trucks. -
2015 Silverado LT Vibration/Shaking
Jesse Davidson replied to MA-Silverado's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
GM doesn't care, they actually admitted that I have drive line vibration and said they wouldn't do anything. I told them that I researched it, and know it's a big problem they are having, and if they didn't continue trying to fix my truck that I would file complaints and if necessary a suit.... they refused to work on my truck, so I have spoken with a law firm and we are starting a class action lawsuit. PM me your name, email, and phone if you want to be added to the list of contacts I send to the attorneys -

I can't take a 12k hit, If I did, I'd have to increase the size of my current loan, which isn't going to happen. If I could have gotten basically the same truck without the increase I would have done it just to get rid of the thing. -

ohh trust me they do, the first thing they asked me when i walked in was what dont I like, the Active Fuel Management, or the Vibration..... hence one of the aspects of my lawsuit... excess depreciation.... -

Jesse Davidson replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
I'm going to post this every once in a while: I know some people here have been able to get theirs fixed, but from what I'm seeing, GM isn't doing anything for the majority of people. So if anyone wants me to have my attorneys contact them, I have started the ball rolling on a class action lawsuit covering the problems and excess depreciation we are seeing in the trucks due to the issues. Just send me a PM with your Name, email address, and phone number, and I will add you to the list that I send over to them. They currently have hired "experts" to look into all of the issues, and are supposed to have a report back to them in the next couple weeks. As soon as I hear something, I'll let you all know what they say. Good Luck to all, Jesse
