  1. Sorry, but its 57 states....
  2. Just a guess, read this thread: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/201344-04-tahoe-lost-bolt-bad-noises/ Look for marks on the rims. A bracket could be broken and the bolts in place.
  3. Carry it to your dealer and have them check the codes, then repair as needed.
  4. Remember your offer when I ask for the loan..... It made more sense to get that loan than any other type. I didn't need it long term, just long enough to have kitchen remodelled. Why would I want to pay loan origination fees, appraisal fees, etc., when 3 months later the house would have a much different value. FYI, there is no charges except for interest, and no early payment penalties. Every person has different needs and there are numerous solutions to every need. I mentioned this to the OP so that he could see if it would work for him. I checked and I was charged 7.99%. I had no idea that they went to 25% APR. If that would have been the case, I would have either put it on a CC, or refinanced another asset. Hard money lenders would want too much in my situation. Refinancing the house is expensive with all the cost involved, and not worth it for a short term fix.
  5. I have used them one time. Interest rate was about 9%. It took about 10 minutes on the phone to get approval. They funded the loan overnight and the money was available the next day. I was remodelling a kitchen and it was a quick easy way to obtain financing without having to get an appraisal for a home equity loan and waiting weeks for bank approval. I don't remember off hand how long the loan was for, but seems like I did a 60 month to allow low payments knowing that I would either refinance the house afterwards or sell it. Its not really any "catch" to it, just higher interest rates than secured loans, but cheaper than typical credit card rates. I was happy with them is why I mentioned it. I would use them again if it fit my needs at the time.
  6. Many years ago my dad gave me the following advice, "Son, you can't borrow your way out of debt". With that said, you need to find a way to get cheap interest. It could be something like a Discover Personal loan, or balance transfers to other credit cards. Make a note of balance transfers because in the fine print, many cards charge a certain percentage of the amount. A CC that has 0% interest for 18 months with a 5% transfer fee is not a bad way to go. It took you a while to get to this position, and unless you hit the lottery, its going to take some time to get out of it. Don't get discouraged, every month you will get closer to paying it off IF you quit charging on your cards.
  7. 1999 - 2007 will fit.
  8. Did you hear about Cap'n Crunch? He was murdered today. They think it was done by a serial killer.
  9. Body Control Module, or for us old timers, its yet another computer that controls stuff.
  10. 3500 would be better than your recommendation....for the reasons you listed.
  11. Be sure to ask for diminished value. Carfax and others will have a record of MAJOR damage. When its time to trade, bend over.....Vaseline not included.
  12. I always used the towels under and behind the car seat. No indentions, and simply toss them in the washing machine as needed.
  13. Post back after a few fill ups. Hope it works for you.
  14. Chances are the fuel pump is good since it runs fine after firing back up, but its worth checking the pressure to be sure. I had the purge valve issue on a Grand Prix. Took a long time before it finally set a code. It was hard to start after fueling, after a few months, it would miss after it fired up after fueling for less than a minute. It only cost about 25 bucks for one from O’Reilly. Even though you replaced it a few months back. it might be shot especially if it was from Auto Zone or another crappy auto parts store.
  15. Purge valve going bad.
  16. On a standard AC, it does not use a temperature switch. Some SUV's might have had this feature, and maybe a Denali, but standard trucks use a blend door to adjust temperature.
  17. Tested the clutch with an ohm meter. Was able to verify 12v down to the compressor. My compressor has a high limit switch that is built into it. I used a paper clip to jump past it while testing. Once I figured it out, swapped the compressor, orifice tube and dryer. Problem solved and it gets so cold in the truck that you need a jacket on 95 degree days if you set the AC blower on 3 or above.
  18. I disagree with this ^^^. My 01 did the same thing and eventually failed al together. It was the clutch beginning to fail. It would eventually kick off, then once it cooled down, would work again. Trying to test it was tough because it was so damn hot under the truck when it was acting up that I could not unplug the connector. I could test it cold and it showed it was good. Once it got really hot under the hood, it would stop.
  19. Over 600 pages and climbing, so I am sure this post will get lost. Just an FYI, I just mounted a set of take off tires and rims from a 2016 on my 2001 Sierra. It now has that harmonic vibration above 65 MPH. Tires are balanced, its more of a harmonic vibration, not a tire out of balance or a bent rim.
  20. Sorry, but my observations put me in the other camp. I do blame foreign manufacturing as part of the problem. Sometimes it is a design issue that causes the problem. What really pisses me off is they "GM, Ford etc" use these cheaper to produce parts, but DO NOT pass on the savings to the consumer. The prices of cars and trucks should get cheaper with the stagnate wages, and cheaper parts.
  21. Probably the era before you were old enough to drive from your response. I am not quoting JDPowers or Consumer Reports or any other internet claim. PM26 is correct in my general opinion, except I can't say that Korean parts are any better. I base my observations on my personal experiences. So I guess that the 1994 Impala SS that I bought new and kept for 21 years that NEVER went back in the shop and only had oil changes and 1 tail light bulb go out was poor quality from Arlington Tx using mostly American parts. Or maybe the 1995 Silverado that had nothing but oil changes and a set of brake pads. How about the 1982 Silverado that only had normal maintenance for that era of vehicle? Had a 1976 Caprice that was kept for 18 years that never had anything other than wear items replaced. Or we could fast forward to the 2005 Grand Prix that had an alternator, and about 10 window regulators (import crap from Mexico and China), radio, weather stripping, blower motor, blower relay, the steering wheel get that gummy crap oozing, transmission switch/solenoid and other issues that I can't think of right now. Just to be fair, I put 220K on the 76 Caprice, 190K on the 82 Silverado, 280K on the 95 Silverado, 58K on the 94 SS and 115K on the Grand Prix. Currently still have the 2001 GMC and the only real issue with it has been pinion bearings failing until I had it rebuilt out of warranty. Used good bearings and no more trouble. It only has 308K on it and the motor has never had a valve cover off, original transmission, and just had the AC compressor replaced. So claiming that quality is getting better is painting with a very broad brush. To say that China made parts are just as good is just talk. Come back in 15 years and lets see how well they held up. Getting back on topic, crap does break, but AC compressors should last at least 100K miles if not more. Of all my vehicles, the 01 Sierra is the only one I have ever lost a compressor, and it was the clutch that failed, not the internals.
  22. How old are you? You might be too young to have lived in that era.
