  1. i have the PS motor, let me know if you decide you need it - like I said I would make sure things move smoothly first or you will burn up any new motor you put on it and yours may still be fine.
  2. I should, let me look. Before replacing your motor though I would make sure the pivot points aren't getting stuck at the running board pivots as that will just burn up a replacement motor. Before I put mine on I took them apart and freed them up with solvent then antiseize. Your motor might be fine if it's just trying to move frozen pivot points. I'll look to see where I put the motor though and let you know tomorrow.
  3. New pixel 10 has magnets like some of the iPhones to align the phone / charger for better charging. Does anyone know if these magnets will damage the center console charger in our trucks? I know you aren't supposed to leave keys or change on them is why I ask.
  4. I have some parts left over that are in usable condition from a set of running boards I built combining 2 sets i purchased. Parts include end caps, endcap with switch, idler arm with wiring harness both sides, and PS motor and arm, DS motor arm and gearbox needs a new motor, controller box that goes on the DS assembly. Let me know what you are interested in and we can work out a price. I'm in the Cincinnati area for local pick up or parts can be shipped if you want to pick up the tab for that.
  5. unplug the loom that runs to the rear at the motor, and check for continuity across the 2 plug pins when someone pushes in the button. If you don't have continuity you can remove the endcap with the switch in it with a phillips taking out 3 screws, unplug the cap from the inner harness and check for corrosion there - I would guess that's the problem. If you have continuity at the pins the problem obviously is not the switch.
  6. I just got done installing mine using a set that had a bad motor on the DS replacing the motor with one from a beat up set that had a good motor. They will not move unless you loosent the two 6mm allen socket head bolts s that hold the arm to the motor/gearbacx shaft then the arm will rotate on the shaft and you can move them in or out as you like to install them.
  7. I see a bunch of 19-24 GM 1500's for sale lately, I think the word is getting out and people are dumping them moving on to something else before the power train problems bite them. Shame, because these are really nice trucks otherwise.
  8. My understanding is there is a stainless bushing at the pivot points on the boards. If they start sticking or running slow, disassembling the arms at that point and cleaning / lube with anti-seize is sometimes the cure. If the joint is corroded beyond repair replacing the arm is the next step. This is on the 15-18 design, not the newer trucks.
  9. Thanks, I found some information based on that. I haven't seen anything on a service interval though, only comments to replace that and the pressure sender when the oil pressure drops which doesn't sound right. Looks like a metal screen, so is it just for aeration reduction or is acting like a filter / getting clogged too?
  10. i hadn't heard about the screen being servicable and haven't seen the TSB . Can someone explain the screen and service and post a link to the TSB?
  11. I thought the recall was switching the 19-24 6.2s to 0w40 not 5W30, am I wrong? I was thinking of switching to 0W40 myself next change.
  12. So the fix if DTC 0016 isn't set, is replace the oil with 0w40 oil. I wonder if this should also be done on the previous generation of 6.2 too? On the other hand, GM explanation is make the oil consistent with LT1 and LT4s in Camaros and corvettes since it's a high performance engine. Well, the power output is the same for the previous generation 6.2 engines so why aren't those seeing the same problem? What am I missing here? Are the build tolerances different? And on edit - what's this going to do to the EPA fuel economy certification? My understanding is 0w20 was used to reduce drag and improve gas mileage.
  13. Unfortunately another data point supporting my choice to stay away from the 10 speed trucks. Of course Ford is using the same transmission (or a varient) and is having similar valve body problems from what I have read. Can't say if they are having problems with parts shortage though.
  14. Curious, why the interest in learning more - is this not supposed to happen on an '18? My comment wasn't a concern just and observation.
  15. My '18 does that, I wondered what the noise was when opening the door. My '15 did not do that - both 6.2 engines.
  16. I don't know of any issues with 8 speeds that left lots of trucks incapacitated waiting on parts for months at dealers do you? Once the updated fluids are put in and in some cases a new torque converter the they have no issues with the exception of an occasional clunky shift, that's been my experience and what I've read regardless of any class action that's unresolved. You might be thinking it's just diesel because that's where the safety recall was initiated
  17. Exactly why I bought it, 8L90 is a solid performer with an occasional clunky shift once the new fluid is in it - and no 10 speed valve body problems which apparently have no known solution.
  18. I ended up replacing my 15 LTZ with a 14,000 mile '18 LTZ 6.5 bed (Looks, smells and drives like new) comparably equipped because I wasn't willing to deal with the high probability of reliability issues with a new one. For the price difference between a new one and what I paid for the '18 I can get extended warranty's to take me to the 10 yr 150K for drive train and still have money in the pocket. Plus it will be much less likely to leave me sitting without a vehicle for a long time while GM tries to find parts to repair it. Getting 23mpg driving 70mph on the interstate empty, good enough for me from a 6.2. With the current mileage and how much I drive, this will probably last me long enough to not need a truck again when I need to replace it. Note to GM - your truck reliability problems made for a missed sale to me.
  19. I'm looking at a used set now for a soon to be truck of mine (2018). Mod looks easy enough, great video. So i take it I should be able to move the boards in and out freely by hand when they are off the truck from the post above? The set I'm looking at the owner says has a cracked motor housing but is still works. I'm asking for pictures but what's the best source if I need to buy a replacement?
  20. I may want to use a mirror camera like this but to hook up to a boat trailer so I can see behind it backing up. Seems like I would just need to find a camera that is waterproof and has the right resolution to work with the mirror?
  21. I have 3 things I would like to see from the next gen 1. Reliability and / or 200,000 mile drive train warranty for engine and transmission 2. Reliability and/or 200,000 mile drive train warranty for engine and transmission 3. Reliability and/or 200,000 mile drive train warranty for engine and transmission These trucks have a lot going for them in new features BUT - there is zero chance of me buying a new or used 19-25 GM full sized truck right now because of the Engine / Transmission problems and I'm in the market for a new/different truck. I have a friend who is good friends with an older experienced GM Engineer who is about to retire. My friend told me his advice is don't buy the 19-current trucks, they have too many design issues due to a huge loss of talent in GM's Engineering group prior to the release of this newer drivetrain. I'm currently looking for a 17/18 6.2 short bed with max tow package low mileage to give me 10 years of service. The AFM might give me problems me but the chances are much lower than the newest DOD system failures, and I can deal with clunky shifting once in a while in the 8 speed.
  22. you will get a better outcome dealing with warranty / product problems yourself through a consumer protection attorney than participating in a class action.
  23. Sounds like a good price on the labor - mind sharing where you are located and who did the work for you? Feel free to PM if you prefer not to post on the open forum.
  24. I'm looking for a 17/18 Silverado LTZ or High County - must have 6.2 engine, be under 80,000 miles within 250 miles of Cincinnati OH. Needs to have the enhanced drivers alert system and if it has towing mirrors that would be a big plus. Let me know what you have.
