Thank you! I'm looking to go a similar route. Once the stock tires wear out I'll go with something a little bigger plus a 2 inch rear block. So until then I'll stick the 3rd setting
-
Finally!! someone else with a double cab and using the 3rd setting. I think I'm sold on it now. Do you have any other pictures? I have been battling back and forth on which setting. I'm looking to keep stock wheels and tires for now and still need to haul a utility trailer every now and then. I had 1.5 inch motofab and wanted to keep it about the same as that. How's the ride with these shocks for you at this setting?

Shake or Vibration Issues

You're not the first to note poorly manufactured axel flanges, but it is important to note that this is not something that GM checks, to my knowledge. Those who have found this issue, found it themselves. I have a dial indicator and have been meaning to check mine as well... -

1700 miles on my GM trade assist 2017 Silverado. Now shaking at 80 mph. Felt lightly in the steeringwheel but significantly in the seats. -

GM traded me out of my 2016 to 2017. 1500 miles and this one is starting to shake too. Not as bad as the 2016 but I still notice it and it drives me insane. GM, this platform is absolute garbage. I don't care what anyone says, they all shake, some people I guess just don't notice it as much as others. The frame it too stiff and poor tolerances with everything else. Transfers everything to the passengers. -

I had the steering bushings done on my 2016 before the trade assist. Literally did not improve or make anything else worse. If they didn't tell me they did it I would have never known. -

GM trade assist was finalized recently. Already put 500 miles on my new 2017 Silverado with no issues *knock on wood*. Probably wont feel relieved until I have a few thousand miles on it and at least one tire rotation. Also taking the "break-in" period very seriously. Process for me took about 2 months but I don't think that this is the norm. I still will be monitoring this page in hopes that someone finds a more universal fix. Good luck everyone -
2015 Silverado LT Vibration/Shaking

Had the steering bushings replaced on my truck about a month ago. I wish I could instill confidence but it didn't work. My steering wheel center console and seats still shakes at 73-77 MPH. Try and and get a buy back or vehicle swap, better yet and go buy a Toyota(they never die) or (I hate to say it) ford.... -
Ford has been down this road already. Take note on my ford work truck. They have a gasket sealing the door so crap like this doesn't happen. Come on GM at least learn from your competitors...

Any improvement after the balance? Stock Tires and Stock Wheels? I just contacted a Lemon Law Lawyer and they stated that they will be taking on my case... They also said I'm the 3rd Silverado with vibration issues TODAY. I know nothing here is new but come on already. I really don't want to go to a different brand but I don't know what to do at this point. -

Vibration in the steering wheel plus vibration in the seats and console as well. Steering wheel was the worse BUT hold your horse because GUESS WHAT? ITSSSSS BACKKKKK! Truck was smooth as glass when I got it back and now it's the same as it was. Well maybe slightly better... but still that damn thing still shakes. And I get it, it's a truck and it's not suppose to ride like a Cadillac but vibration is far different from a stiff truck suspension. RT I know what you're going to say, and I agree. My beef is that I want this done on GM's dime and I want answers from GM. But this is BEYOND ridiculous! My dealer has been great to work with. They've gone as far as picking up my truck from home and leaving me a loaner (That's service!). What is killing me is GM and their mechanics and engineers attention to detail. My steering wheel is now crooked to the right and when I dropped it off it wasnt. That's a simple fix so just @$&!ing do it. I gave them a list of all the items people complained about and none of them checked to my knowledge. Just a "bad U joint and newly engineered bushings" B$!!s&$&.. This rant is far from over GM but that's all the time I have for now -

No service bulletin but here is the part number for the bushings 84097717 After two days of driving I'm still pleased with the result. I still think these stock tires a junk and now that there has been some resolution to my problem I can now focus on upgrading. Looking at Cooper AT3 at the moment. -

After having the steering bushings replaced with "newly engineered" ones and a u joint replaced I'm happy to report that I don't feel vibration from 70-80mph any more. Only problem now is my steering wheel cocked to the right a few degrees... I guess I can live with that for now, beats shaking down the road all day -

I think my build date is march of 2016. I have about 13k and change on the odometer. Bought the vehilcle as New with about 6,000 miles on it. Per the dealership the U-Joints were binding up in the same place on each rotation. I've had vibration issues since day one of purchase. I think my build date is march of 2016. A GM engineer looked over my truck today. Received a phone call from the dealership that my U-Joints need replacement and "Newly Engineered Steering Bushings". The parts are on order and will hopefully have them installed soon. Maybe GM has a fix for some customers coming out? Again my symptoms are noted mostly in the steering wheel from 70-80 MPH. I do have some shaking in the seat/console but it's no where near what some had discribed. I had the change in my console shake a few times but that was mostly cured by tires that were indeed out of balance. Hopefully any remaining vibration will be fixed. I'm estatic that I have been offered a solution other than wheels and tires. I do have some doubt, as most of us do after dealing with this issue, but I'm still hoping for the best. I'll post updates as they come. -

Zmnypit, could you see that much wobbling when the wheels were on the ground or was it only noticeable once the truck was on stands? -

Schmidt152 replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Thanks zmnypit for all of the valuable information! I'm a believer that these axles have been poorly manufactured and due to the stiffer frames, we are noticing these imperfections in the steering wheel, seats, cab and center console. I've been looking online at the runout for axel flanges and the lateral runout appears to be the key to vibrations. So far everything I read shows that the runout of roundness of the flange is negligible? RT, did you only mill down the roundness of the flange or did you also check lateral runout? Has anyone else found that information to be true. I noticed that zmnypit did do a few measurements of lateral runout. Does anyone know the actual specs? I've found that anything more that 0.004 is excessive and will cause vibration. Going to be checking my axles in the very near future. -

I have symptoms at the same speeds but for me the steering wheel is the worst. Center console and seats are not where as bad as the steering wheel. Maybe my front axels are bad? -

Could you give more specifics about your symptoms? Describe the vibration and location in the cab? Was it more noticeable in the steering wheel or seats or just a vibration throughout the truck in general? -

Schmidt152 replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
I think most of us appreciate the information, RT. This problem sucks and I'm finding myself wasting roughly 2 hours a day researching. I'm still waiting on a GM engineer to get back to me.. Only thing that I noticed that differed from your experience is that my truck is perfectly smooth 55-60 MPH. So I'm wondering if i'm having a different problem than you. I have noticed the "floating Tac" that was just mentioned while driving down the road. Even at an idle it will bounce and my truck will shutter occasionally, which maybe another problem itself. I'm forwarding this information to my dealer as well. -

So weirdest thing happened to me this morning. NO VIBRATION!! I haven't changed anything. Simply was driving home from work on the highway waiting for my steering wheel and console to start shaking and I was up over 80 mph and nothing. Smooth as glass. This is probably short lived but I don't know how it's possible. Maybe in my case it is these crappy tires? I bet everyone I passed on the highway thought I was a lunatic, smiling from ear to ear. -
