  1. So we went away for a couple of weeks after this and when we got home, no freon. I bought the cheap FVP condenser off of Rock Auto that was linked above my post. Had the old one evacuated (my son is a Mercedes mechanic so it was free), watched a few YouTube videos and did the remove and replace. Only lost about a cup of tranny fluid so I never put any back in. Level looks fine. Had my son recharge it (free!) and it is now working like a champ. Cost me $65 plus tax and shipping from Rock Auto. Made in China...of course.
  2. AutoZone has a Spectrum brand for $220 that looks to have the full length welds. Seen some others that have square tube welds instead of the small bead OEM ones. I've got some time as my leak is slow so I have cool air right now.
  3. I now have to replace my condenser. Son is a Mercedes tech, so no problem with the freon/vacuum part. So what is the best condensor to get and does it come with the desicant bag already installed? I'm doing it myself in my driveway. Leak is small so with a recharge last week, I should have cool air until I get the part. Mine is leaking at the standard upper weld.
  4. The replacement TBV won't work on my '14. Not the right tube connections. So I'd have to swap out the guts and throw the aluminum housing away. Makes no sense when for 1/2 the price of a tank of gas I could just buy the guts in a kit and convert my existing TBV. It is a waste of money and materials...
  5. So this begs the question, why can't we just buy the internals as a kit and not the whole thing? I just learned of this pill flip thing and am going to try it. Maybe later I will spring for the newer part and just swap the internals.
  6. Whoops, sorry. I did a search for throttle controllers and this thread came up. I didn't realize there was a post 2018 forum.
  7. Anyone tried the Soler Performance version? It's only $95. https://www.solerengineering.com/generalmotors/se0867-tc
  8. It doesn't run down the battery anymore? Is this new?
  9. I don't believe this for a second. You can hear V4 mode, but you can't feel it go in and out.
  10. You guys are correct. Just noticed that the other day. M6 allows V4. M5 does not. Sorry for the misinformation.
  11. I put mine in M6 all the time. Eliminates the V4. There is no "L".
  12. I don't think it's that the pedal is not stiff enough, it is the panel that it mounts to. That's what is flexing.
  13. Of course it's going to get less mileage. What did you expect, it disables the fuel saving feature (V4) of the engine.
  14. If you take the intake tube off, you don't need the straw. Just hold the can in front of the throttle body butterfly valve and spray away. I did this a couple of weeks ago with 56,000 miles on my truck. I can't really tell a difference around town.
  15. I want to do the CRC treatment on my '14, but with 55,000 miles on it, I'm afraid I'll clog my cats like Project Summit did. Are they warranted longer since they are an emissions part?
  16. I get 15.5 -16.5 around town without my Range device. Worst with it. Took a 7 hour trip up to Kansas last week. 20.9 going up without the Range device, 18.6 coming back with the Range device. Wind wasn't a factor. Stock '14 LTZ CC w/5.3L 4X4 and I've removed the rear spacer blocks. No toneau.
  17. Could you, at your leisure, go back to your dealer and find out exactly what this update is? An identifying number or tech bulletin? So the rest of us can go to out dealers and ask for that specific update. Just saying I want the march update probably won't hack it. Thanks.
  18. I did this last week with some 3/8" wood stock. Much better throttle response. I don't care what the engineers think, this is better!
  19. Just checked my '14 LTZ. Now I'm looking for a paint stick! I had over 1/4" movement. Gotta love the expert's explanation.....It's designed that way for vibration. Some rubber washers would do that an not have so much unnecessary flex.
  20. I just did this. Thanks for the info.
  21. How does a seat belt extender silence the door chime?
  22. I installed a Range device on my new to me 2014 5.3L and other than looking on the dash to see it never goes in V4 mode I can't tell any difference. I've had no problems with CEL lights or transmission shifting. I did lose about 3 mpg around town, and I ran the battery down once after not using the truck for about 3 days(live and learn Doh!) I think I'm going to alternate 1 tank of gas with it, and then 2 tanks of gas without the Range. I'm a car guy, and I couldn't tell when my truck went into V4 without looking at the dash. Not sure how you can tell if your transmission fluid pressure is surging as there is no readout.
