  1. When you get in the car when it's cold , start it up and just start driving , do you get a clunk noise when it hits 5th gear?
  2. I went through the same thing as you. Took me 5 times and kept records showing it happened every time. every time they said it's normal. The last time I drove with them and he heard it. I guess they HAVE to do something now. Well they did the valve body and fluid change. The problem was gone until around 112 miles later. Heard my first 2-1 clunk. It doesn't happen as much, but now I have a random clunk when it hits 5th gear. When it's cold it happens all the time first starting out. When the tranny warms up it's random. It will lurch forward sometimes when coming to a stop then giving a little gas, Like it doesn't know what gear it's in. As for the class action. I'll let you guys know how it goes, that's all I can say, sorry.
  3. Just brought my 17 in for my brake booster pump failing. I asked them to check the tranny again, for the 5th time now. Every service or recall I bring it in and complain. They always come back with " Its normal, No problem, Couldn't find a problem" this time I drove with a tranny tech and he heard the 3-1 clunk. They said they want to drop the pan. If there are no shavings, they want to change the valve body. If there is they will go further. Of course there were no shavings and changed the valve body. This is the kicker.... When she told me it was ready she flat out said they are not doing another thing on this tranny unless it's a major problem. So if it still clunks , I guess it's normal...! She said if the tech drives it like 25 miles, it happens 2 times, it's not a problem. I said ok so how many times would it happen in 25000 miles? Because that's how much I have on the truck. That's a lot. I'm done with GMC.... And to make it better, the person before me on line with the same counter person complained about the SAME thing I did.

  5. What ever happened with your buyback? I have an 8 speed with the same problems and would love a buyback. 4 times I brought it to the dealer and 4 times they didn't find a problem. HUH..
  6. I have no idea. What I was told from them when they win cases like this is either, repair the tranny, Replace the tranny or buy back the truck. I'ts going to cost me some time in court with them, but I don't care really. Hoping something will be done.
  7. How long do class actions take?...They said it could take 1 to 2 years
  8. Sorry guys. I read through 12 pages of this thread and couldn't find what I was looking for. Here's my question. I installed a 2" rough country level with the stock Rancho shocks. The ride got much stiffer. I really don't like it. What way is the best way to go here? Would installing the 5100 on the stock setting give me a better ride? Or is there a different shock that would smooth me out? OR..Just remove the lift all together? Thanks.
  9. Well I ended up finishing the first part. It's a 2 inch RC level. The ride is a little rougher. I can feel the road a bit more. There is about a 1 inch rake. I'm good with that.I don't get all the fuss with the kit. I installed both sides in 20 min not including jacking and removing the tires. All I did was jack up the entire front end so both tires were off the ground. Remove top nut on sway bar. Remove both strut bolts. Use a pry bar and push down on the upper arm. Just slid the puck in with some effort and that was it. No removing ball joints ect... I think I'm going with 275/65r18 Falken Wildpeaks.
  10. The 275/70 you have is 33.2" tall. The stock I have is 31.6" 265/65. I like the 285/65, but the more I read I don't think I'm going to do it just because I'm looking more for function than looks. Kinda 60/40... The 275/65 is 32.1" and they don't weigh that much at all. It should still look good with a nice tread like the Wildpeaks and not affect my gas mileage too much. We''ll see. Thanks
  11. That's what I'm looking to do. This Friday I'm doing the 2" RC Level and still debating on the 285 or 275. What PSI did you fill them to? Any Idea in loss of MPG yet?
  12. I don't have the lift yet, but this shows what a 2" would do. Later today I'll post some pics of a 2.5. You can see the CV isn't too bad, but look at the upper ball joint in both pictures. ( click on the picture) http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/200377-some-info-on-cv-angles-with-a-2-level-lift/
  13. What PSI are you guys running the E rated tires at?
  14. Can you post the kit your are talking about?
  15. Who has some GOOD pictures of your CV angles and ball joints with a 2 inch Level? The angle thread has a lot on lifts, not so much on level. Thanks
  16. How much did the top setting net you?
  17. OEM approved ???
  18. Why did you remove the kit? Was the ride that bad?
  19. That's weird. The strut has 2 flat tabs that the spacer sits on. You would think flat is flat. Isn't rough country and all the others the same?
  20. That's pretty good. I just went on a 500 mile drive and got 20.6mpg
  21. How bad did your gas mileage drop? Stock I'm around 17.9 with 1300 miles
  22. Your CV shafts won't like it. Everyone always talks about shocks and ball joints. The CV shafts are supposed to be level. Witham 2.5 or 3 inch take a look how off they are. Now turn your wheel and hit a big bump, they are at really bad angles.
