  1. Those DI motors burn everything pretty efficiently. My old truck gets better gas mileage running 18-22% alcohol content than running anything else.
  2. As for me and my house, Chevron always delivers superior mileage compared with Shell, for near thirty years or more. Even their 93 octane fuel delivers at least 2 MPG less than Chevron and Mobil and Sunoco. Heck, even my garden tractor gets less time between refuelings running Shell gas from the corner station. Every once in a while I go back to see if things have changed because they are an American company with a great history, Jimmy Doolittle used to race and work for them even.
  3. If your battery is a 48PS, it has a reserve capacity of 110 minutes when new. So you can discharge the battery at 25 amps for 110 minutes and each cell will have 1.75 volts at the end. I have this battery which is now almost 4 years old and I doubt it would last half as long, it's usually barely at 12 volts, enough to start and run modules but it's getting tired and it's my game to see how long it lasts. You can replace that battery with the 48PG or a better choice would be a 48HPG which gives a reserve capacity of 135 minutes. The GMT900 charging system is not optimized for 48AGM or the 48PGHRC batteries. If you can spare about $400 plus a pair of new batteries, add the second battery up front on the driver's side. There are write ups here and elsewhere by InTheBurbs on what parts are needed and how to do it.
  4. According Hot Rod's testing, the 799/243 heads flow 243 and 176 CFM on their intake and exhaust at .500 lift. At .600 lift these numbers go to 248 and 186. To my way of thinking, this additional strain on the valvetrain is hardly worth it considering it would only yield about 5-8 horsepower at most. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/surprising-hp-numbers-stock-ls-cylinder-head-test/
  5. Right, science politicized is not science at all. The left does not believe in science, they believe in tyranny and will lie about anything and everything to relentlessly advance that cause.
  6. The 66 books of the bible were complete and together long before that, it was ordained by God not man.
  7. Go GM OE, truck still stops great right? ACDelco Advantage is el cheapo stuff. That's what I did, no regrets.
  8. The line of manuscripts which came out of the church in Antioch, Syria, which includes the Masoretic Text and which became the Received Text. God's Word today is preserved in the English in the King James Bible. The Masoretic Text was quoted by Christ and the Apostles and all have a long chain of custody or provenance.
  9. There are few if any cures for viruses, including the previous COVIDs. Yes, it's still out there and the data shows that many more thousands of people are being tested and tested again each day compared to two weeks and six weeks and 2 months ago and each day there are fewer and fewer positive cases reported across the country. We know that the old and infirm have a higher death rate, so they should take care not to get it. The precautions being taken currently in many locales are not warranted based on the science. For example, my county has a population of 313,400 people. As of today we've had a total of 292 people infected and 26 died. That's an infection rate of .09% and a death rate of .01% based on the population. 8.9% of those who got it died. Most of those were over a month ago, don't think we've had a death in 4 or 5 weeks, before the doctor's knew that 3 drug cocktail stops it in its tracks if caught before a person is put on a ventilator. Don't know the average age for my county of those who died but the average age of those infected is 56. In my state as a whole, daily numbers of deaths have been falling, again, because doctor's know what to treat the patients with now to defeat it. Since the 8th, only about 100 people have died from it and we know the average age of those who died is 75 and most, if not all of these folks had other underlying problems that hastened their demise. I don't want to live in a country that lives in fear, people afraid to interact with one another, walking around with gloves and masks is insane in the membrane. It's time to go back to work.
  10. That's your opinion but it is not true. I reckon that you've never made the time to investigate this. Not a dig, most people haven't. "...holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." The bible consists of 66 smaller books in perfect harmony, written over the course of about 1,600 years by about 40 men under the inspiration of God. It is perfect and without error. In trying to disprove the bible and the existence of God, I became a Christian. I could not refute, or really ignore, the evidences any longer.
  11. The difference is that those men knew and feared God. The liberal does not fear God, the god of the liberal is their belly. The virus is over, we're resuming our lives and going back to work. Leftists can keep lying and scaring people to topple the President. The leftist response to this viral attack was always about power and control.
  12. I didn't mean to imply everyone, there are exceptions. Well versed in the scriptures you know that there's none that doeth good, no, not one.
  13. Some of them, yes, for political reasons. Even doctors and hospital staff suffer from TDS. This next comment is directed to everyone Marty. Never forget, liberals are liberals first. A liberal doctor will put his ideology first over his profession. A liberal scientist will put politics over science. A liberal preacher will put his political ideology over God's Word.
  14. We go back to work and distance ourselves from the Chicoms; Nixon was wrong. The sick and infirm should keep an eye out in their locales based on the numbers. The government ought to trust the people that put them into office or the people will ignore them and go back to the way it was and vote them out at the earliest opportunity. While not a vaccine, we have a three med cocktail that costs about $20 that kills this thing and the earlier you take it, the less damage to your lungs. I'm one of the infirm people and am not afraid to get it, don't want it of course, but if I do, we have the meds to fight it.
  15. It's a Tech-2 and probably a Vetronix clone. I have successfully programmed modules with it before.
  16. Sounds good and I agree with those cam specs being too high for a truck and tow vehicle. Replace all of the lifters. Might consider skipping the cam upgrade and instead cleaning up the heads with a 3-angle (or whatever they do to these LS heads) valve job and mild port and polish.
  17. Does anyone know what these mean or where I could find out what they mean? I was remote programming the 2-Way Advanced Remote Start GM Accessory to my truck and it failed twice. Tech-2 said: Programming Failed Utility 19213685 Line 06 Operation 27 Error Code 35 Line 06 Operation 00 Error Code 00 Line 06 Operation 27 Error Code 35
  18. Maybe they use a higher quality filtering media? Would they have been sued already had they made a claim that was patently false or even prosecuted by Uncle Sam?
  19. Is this an iron block motor or aluminum? As stated previously, the PF48 is the original size for a Gen IV LS engine. I run the longer PF63 but not ACDelco, K&N which flows better and filters down smaller particals. My oil pressure is lower when the oil is old. My oil pressure was lower using Mobil 1 M1-212 filter versus the K&N. K&N has a 1" nut to make removal easy peasy too. My oil pressure is lower than yours, it has an all aluminum engine. Pump is made for more volume, less pressure.
  20. Super Chevy thinks otherwise: http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/engines-drivetrain/1712-surprising-hp-numbers-from-our-stock-ls-cylinder-head-test/ The 799/243 were originally associated with the 5.7 LS6 as that was the first engine to use them I think. But now they are known for being on the 5.3 truck motors most and a favorite for rebuilders as the Gen III heads tend to crack and leak. Look up Castech heads. I'm fairly new to this too, bought my first LS in 2017, came from 1970s and 1980s Buicks.
  21. Remember that the LS2 is a 6.0 block with 5.3(799/243) heads. Now that I think about it, there are a few such builds over on the Performance Trucks forum. Have a look around.
  22. Have you seen this article? I had not and appreciated the easy to understand explanations: http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/engines-drivetrain/1808-advantages-of-vvt-cam-in-gen-iv-v-engine/
  23. Are you talking about that 206 206 camshaft? That was a custom grind specified by the customer. They never answered my question either, post too old I guess and that was three years ago. Texas Speed started messing with VVT but their grinds are too big in my opinion for a truck. VVT is great technology but these guys haven't spent the time to work with it and maximize performance with it. Crane has menus for VVT cams but still doesn't show anything. Comp cams has them for race cars. Gwatney has them for 6.2 truck motors. Might be a repackaged TSP cam! Call Summit Racing tomorrow and ask them.
