It would depend on the distance from the bulb to the lens. If it closer, the lens is more apt to get hotter.
I could be totally wrong, but I wouldn't think you'd see this on an LTZ or an SLT with LED lights. I think the LED's don't generate as much heat??
I’m curious to see if in fact they provide it for free. GM has given it a part number and a price. It’s more of an accessory rather than a warranted item. Please let us know. I picked one up on eBay for $15 with free shipping. I’d spend close to that just driving to the dealer to get one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve had locking caps with a similar key slot design. If the lock starts giving me trouble, I’ll toss it. They really didn’t need to put a lock on it. Bad idea.
I’ve never seen dirt behind the fuel door, but I have seen snow/rain a few times. So I guess liquid contamination is my major concern. If the lock on it starts giving me grief, it’ll go in the trash. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got my goofy cap. Impulse buy for sure! Lol! But for $15, I’ll throw it on there until it annoys me! Lol! It actually fits on there pretty good and will definitely prevent stuff from getting in the tank. It’s a bit wonky getting off. If you have a lot of keys on your keychain, it’s better to keep the key separate as it takes 2 hands to remove the thing. A lot of keys on the keychain get in the way of easy removal.

I won’t be buying any battery soon. If I stick with my dealer for all scheduled maintenance, I’ll get free batteries, oil changes and tire rotations for as long as I own the vehicle. Diamond Chevrolet, Auburn MA Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't think anyone here has reported an issue directly related to the cap-less fill. It's just proactive talk. A dust cover of some sort can't hurt.
Ha, Ha... The 2019 looks nothing like a Ford. I don't understand how people think that.
I see the part out there...Cheap plastic cover. $15-$18 depending who you get it from. $15 on ebay (free shipping)
I suppose it's better than nothing. I just ordered one.
And you're right. The fact that GM says "Notify the customer that GM had made available a locking gas cap for drivers that operate in these dirty or dusty environments. This will protect the fill area from dirt intrusion and protect the fuel system.", tells you that they're not free.
List price at the online GM parts places is $27.74. I'll bet that's what the dealers are going to want for them

I was having some intermittent issues now and then. (iphone 5s) It has been working great for the last few months though.
Not sure if the new cable I bought helped, or an iOS update helped?
I use that ashtray/storage compartment for receipts! LOL!
I keep a microfiber cloth folded up on top of the jump seat storage box for wiping down the dash, etc...
I rest my phone on top of the cloth. I'm always connected to carplay, so the cable runs right under the lid of
storage to one of the USB ports inside.
It definitely different. It didn’t really like it at first, but there are two seals as mentioned. We just had a major snow storm with 16.8” of snow and 60 mph wind gusts. Nothing got under my fuel door. It is what it is and not much you can do about it. Someone on eBay sells little plug type caps. When/If I ever have a problem with it, I’ll address it then Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They don’t all shake. Mine doesn’t. I was aware of the shake on some of these trucks when I went to purchase mine. The test drive will tell you. I took a 15 mile test drive on all sorts of road conditions before purchasing mine. At 11k miles, I’ve had zero shake issues. On the other hand, I test drove a new RAM that shook like crazy. I own a 2017 1500 LT Z71 DC. It has no shake thus far at 11k miles. I have several friends with late model trucks, I’d say 1/2 of them say they shake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
