  1. It all depends how attractive you are, or how much money you have
  2. Guy down the road, right...
  3. I think they use the heat from normal use to cure the paint. Similar to diy ceramic exhaust coatings. I've used neither before so not sure how well it turns out, but it looks like I'll find out
  4. Based on what you've described your stressing the absolute Hell out of the manifold/head's connection by doing that. Your asking for broken bolts and stripped threads... I have no idea how gm tech's drop the pan, but rather then forcing the y pipe, you should remove it. Disconnect and remove the o2 sensors, use an impact on the y-pipe to manifold connection and disconnect the y-pipe from the cat back. *edit* You will need a high flow pneumatic impact + high flow compressor to make that disconnect.
  5. Thanks, I agree that they are over priced. I'm just not a fan of the cast finish..
  6. Newdude gave piston slap a fancy name and criticized the OP. It's valve float that's a concern when there's no load on the engine. Hence the limiter, otherwise your buying a new engine.
  7. I'm not sure about the v6, but manual for l86 says to read oil level when (Cold) the vehicle has sat over night, or I believe minimum 2hrs? And if your using 0w20, I've found you can't change the angle of the dipstick at all! In... Straight out, minimal movement. But your dipstick does look like it's hold's oil better than mine.
  8. I'm seeing 26 degrees in the summer, 27-28 degrees fall/spring on 94 octane e15. That's why I was curious about how much higher e85 would push it. Or maybe it won't move the timing at all? I do see some knock at wot, but it hasnt really gone much higher then 3. Usually no timing ****** as well. Or at least minimal.
  9. LT engines are made for use with e85... K2's have the wiring for the sensor, and the necessary tables in the ecu. Just has to be turned on. GM scrapped it because the government was no longer handing out subsidies for it.
  10. Looks good, definitely carries power through the top end better. Do you have a dyno from before the mods?
  11. Looks good! You might want to look at some flares though, the sides of truck will get blasted Someone down the street from me has a Ram with a high negative offset. And when road conditions are bad, his truck looks like it's driven through a hurricane.
  12. The thread I came across seemed to believe there was a connection issue. Computer couldn't recognize the battery or something Google
  13. Thank's TJay74. I don't have hptuners but I do have efilive where I can see where the timing is at any given point. I'm not concerned about what is or isn't changing the timing right now. I know that environmental conditions are what's impacting it for the most part. I guess I should have said.. According to the high octane table what's the maximum allowable advance in timing? I don't know much about tuning, but I have to believe there's more timing to be gained. There's several studies indicating that e40-e50 provides max timing. Anything over e50 and your just benefiting from extra charge cooling not resistance to knock.. @CamGTP you run e50 don't You? @lucas287?
  14. So I've done some searching and have come up with quite few threads on the subject. But nothing regarding my particular concern I just picked up some fuel 18" wheels and I'd like to put on a set of caliper covers to hide the rust. But I'm concerned about the clearance. MGP says they're designed to fit oe wheels down to a 17" wheel. Because of how fuel designs their wheels there's a 1/2" bead around the inside (following the spokes) essentially making it 17" wheel. The new wheels have a lower offset (+1) which I think helps but I'm struggling to get the visual... Has anyone ran these covers on an 18" or 17" wheel, or have any pictures?? Thanks
  15. Well.. I googled U10B0 and it seems to be battery related. Makes sense if your trucks been sitting around.
  16. I loved my duratracs, but after the first year they went downhill fast. It wasn't really the noise that bothered me, but handling and comfort dropped off. Became really bouncy I just switched to falken wildpeak at3w's and the difference is unbelievable. Granted the wildpeak's are 4ply so that has something to do with it. I hoping they age better
  17. How high can timing actually going at wot if you have the appropriate octane? I ask because my truck usually sits around 26 in the summer months, but I recorded some data this past fall and it hovered around 27, but went as high as 29. I know very little but isn't 30 degrees of timing at wot scary high? I have everything I need to run e85 in the spring. Probably go with a e30-e40 mix, but I'm wondering how much more timing I can get out of my truck?
  18. New wheels came in today! 18x9 +1 offset, with 275/65 Falken Wildpeak at3w. Kind of wishing I had gone for the -12 offset so I could put a set of pocket flares on the truck. But it's to much trouble to get a new set ordered. I'll have to see how they look, I'm considering doing a motofab 1" or 1.5" level. I don't have the tire size so I won't be doing a full leveling kit anyways.
  19. Gm doesn't let the engine bounce of the rev limiter; when you hit it the truck kills power. Interesting you can only hit 3000 though... I could be wrong but I think the k2's are 4000-4500? Rev limit exists because of valve float when there's no load on the engine. Not great for it..
  20. I think with the x-pipe removed you'll be a lot happier. If money is no concern you may want to check out https://www.holley.com/products/exhaust/cut_outs_and_multi_mode_kits/parts/71013001-RHKR. You could probably go back to straight pipes. But then again if you get caught while running it loud, doesn't really help you. Catback exhaust doesn't effect engine life, that's governed by your right foot. X-pipe is great for high rpm horsepower (higher then your truck revs)
