  1. I'm assuming its because of dfm. Disable dfm, install stock exhaust, or install aftermarket exhaust.
  2. Just curious how much carbon you could see in the manifold. I had mine open the other day and there was a lot, which surprised me because it was clean last time I checked.
  3. If it was in a dodge thats because zf didnt make it. They bought the rights to produce zf products for their vehicles. Same design, made not made to the same standards. Everyone said the same thing about the 8l90 when it came out. Gm hyped it up... Way better then the six speed, we've got it figured out now. My 8spd was amazing! Until it wasnt. But yet people trade in their crap 8spd to get a new 10spd? If this cycle keeps happening change will never happen, and we'll keep on getting whatgm wants to give us.
  4. I've come across a couple studies that show top tier fuel creates greater piston/cylinder deposits over and above non-top tier fuel. However the top-tier fuel does remove a significant amount of deposits on the intake valves versus non-top tier. Of course these studies were done on port injected engines... imo I think the cleaning power of your oil is more important then whats in the fuel, especially with direct injection. You will get some valve overlap, but without constantly shooting fuel directly on the valve, benefits will be minimal. Does ethanol act as a detergent? fuel lines, injectors etc? Might switch to a non top tier 94 with 10% ethanol.
  5. I dont understand why gm couldnt design a proper 8spd. Zf did it. There's hardly any difference in the gear spread bewteen the two. It Would have made more sense to make it a 9spd looking at those ratios.
  6. I know very little about lifts, But I do know that rough country is one of the brands you want to avoid. Have you tried doing a search on your specific setup to see if other have encountered something similar?
  7. Nope, nothing else going on. Your not gm. There's a reason they highly recommend 93 octane. I'm happy that your think your a know it all, but you can't account for all variables, regions, and climates. It even states in the manual if you have audible knocking below 93 octane, fill up with 93 as soon as possible. If you have audible knocking on 93, then you have a problem. People can decide for themselves but I will trust gm over a random forum user.
  8. I think the ls7 is the best... For those of you that think premium isn't required. I experience audible pinging all the time at part throttle running empty going up hills. I've only ever used shell 91, I'm now trying esso 91; but it did the same thing today. Only option left is 94 octane from different stations. But neither company is top tier and aren't considered to provide quality fuels. I'm also 3000 feet above sea level. Wot no audible knock, just part throttle with slight load. Scares the ****** out of me, because it does not stop unless it downshifts. And honestly, I think the majority of people on hear have no idea what spark knock sounds like and it happens to them all the time.
  9. Well, tell that to all the real tuners who see consistent knock running premium fuel. Whats you company name? Website? I find it hard to believe this would slip by someone who knows what their doing.
  10. No, its the same engine just different fuel economy crap.
  11. What that graph doesn't show you is all the extra knock going on in your engine. Yeah it adjusts, after it senses knock. Then it will continuously keep trying to advance, and keep sensing knock; and back and forth. Is that bad? Only you can decide, its your truck.
  12. The 6.2 will wake up, for me it was around 10000 km. You'll go from, "huh, thought it would feel faster", to "holy ******, about damn time". 0-100 mph is effortless and you'll slam into the speed limiter like you just hit a wall. I'm on 18" wheels, and yes it does make a difference. I think gm severely undercut the l86/87's power. fuel economy, cost and the fact that they couldn't let it make the same or more power then the c7. Im willing to bet they have at least one or two intake manifold designs hidden away. As things sit. You put a 6.2 intake manifold/throttle body on a 5.3, e85 or 93 for that matter... It really narrows that gap. you have to ask, why even make the 6.2 if the 5.3 will get the job done.
  13. The dipstick is a pain in the ass. Check the oil when cold, on a garage floor, gas station etc. level as possible. And DONT push the dipstick in all of the way. Go until it stops but don't actually seat it. Only way I get accurate readings... The oil in this gen truck gets incredibly black, you cant use this to gauge oil life. My truck has had rough idle since day one. Same as my dad's 6.2 and friends 6.2. Valve train is noisy, high pressure fuel pump is noisy.
  14. The piece in front of the tire is there purely for aerodynamics, gm must have gotten a few points on the epa fuel mileage so they figured why not. But yeah, there should be parts you can order.
  15. Yeah there's plastic trim that fit over the corner's. Mine have them, and I have gatorbacks on. You must have the plastic splash guards?
  16. Its possible, they have programs to search for tuning. But at the same time, tuners can tune in such a way that it doesn't operate outside of gm spec, as to not raise any red flags. Bottom line, if you like having a warranty don't tune or modify anything.
  17. Did you try the throttle body before you did e85?
  18. If anyone finds track mode or launch control let me know
  19. Im sure this has been covered. But does anyone have proof that any gains seen, don't disappear soon as the ecm learns...
  20. Yeah a vette would be great if that's what you want. Personally I like trucks. But If I had the money, hell yeah I'd get a vette. Just need a garage first so I have somewhere to store it for 8 months of the year. The exchange rate sucks. But if you wait for a sale that's the best price you'll most likely get.
  21. All I know is that a local shop says they generally see 30rwhp before tuning with kooks 1 7/8/catted y on a 6.2. Look up tdotperformance. Mine came straight from kooks, free shipping, wait for a sale. Install and tune will cost you though. Haven't installed mine yet. I'm sure tuning would make the truck run better, but not in GM's opinion... Can BlackBear still hide the tune with headers? Not looking to cheat the system, but I'm worried about parts that already destined to fail. Seems to be a lot of problems this generation.
  22. Has anyone removed this? I'm interested to see if it has an effect on exhaust volume or if its just there for v4 drone.
