  1. I have mine off right now. I can tell you it makes highway driving a pain, the front wants to move all over the place. Changes the feel of the vehicle, positively at low speeds, negatively at high speeds. Appears to run a little bit hotter too.. And looks 100% better being off
  2. Its really hard to say if your issues are normal or not, best to take it in have someone look at it.
  3. Thanks, appreciate it. You ever use anti-seize on 02's or header bolts?
  4. Which engine do you have? On the 6.2 Gm recommends 93 octane.
  5. Installing headers soon and hoping someone can confirm these torque specs for me. I have a haynes repair manual that says exhaust manifold bolts are 20 ft-lbs with new heads, or 17 ft-lbs with old heads. But it also says 17 ft-lbs with existing manifold, or 20 ft-lbs with new exhaust manifolds. I'm gonna say 20 ft-lbs is the correct one but everything online says 17. Says exhaust flange bolts are 20-25 ft-lbs. Transmission mount bolts 40 ft-lbs, but its confusing because there's a number of different transmission mount bolts. oxygen sensor 31 ft-lbs. It also provides numbers for the steering column, but its confusing because of the multiple connection points with different torque specs. No numbers for the transmission cross member bolts to chassis (tight as you can get em?) Not sure if I should be using anti seize either. On one hand yes for of ease of removal, on the other hand no because you'll end up over torquing the bolt...
  6. low speed pre-ignition. Mine did it until I switched from 91 to 94 octane. They all do it to varying degree's of severity. Most people think their hearing the injectors or fuel pump. You can tell its lspi when the ticking is inconsistent at part throttle under slight load, hill etc.
  7. What did it for me is the fact that amsoil declined quakerstate's invite to do a public displayed oil test. And as far as I'm concerned, I take his testing as legit. Is there anyone else doing this? Beats picking a brand based on commercial's or what color the bottle is. Look up quakerstate's testing. Real world taxi cabs. Idling and running all day. Sounds pretty brutal to me. To each there own, just thought I would share. I have very little knowledge of oil and what defines a good oil. So I rely on those that know more. Personal choice.

  10. I was under the impression gm stopped all tsb's for 8spd/tcc. The class action lawsuit for the 8l90 got thrown out because gm stated that their warranty covers manufacturing defects not poor design. After that, all work on 8spds was cut immediately and they stopped trying to fix it. I dont have the link for that specific tsb but do a quick search on google and you'll find it.
  11. You should take my advice and at least try Google before you start calling someone a dumbass. You have one massive stick up your ass, best start pulling it out now or your gonna be really ****ed down the road. Know it all's that know jack ****** (such as yourself) need a wake up call. This is it, you'll thank me later. Drop your hunt for an ego boost and realize your dick is stuck at the size it is, it's hereditary. If you feel the need to be a dumbass, do it somewhere else. Your misinformation is not wanted on this forum. Over and out. I'm done wasting my time on your ******. If you feel the need to have a last word, by all means go ahead. I wont see it.
  12. No? That's ok, People that actually need to understand, will.
  13. Go Back and read my post, your making yourself look like an idiot. To the original poster, I had said that I think he should his keep his 5.3 and stroke it. To You, For all out modification I would go with the 6.6 over a l86/lt1. Its direct injected, has better block cooling, and its more durable straight from the factory. Yes the difference in displacement is actually a lot, but perhaps to the untrained eye it seems like very little. And I could be wrong, but the 6.6 might actually use the same heads as the lt1/l86 (I cant remember), I believe they just changed the crank and connecting rods to make it a stroker. So for after market parts, basically anything that bolts up to the lt1/l86. I'll break it down. on 87 octane with a low compression ratio the 6.6 makes 464 ftlbs of torque and thats detuned from the factory. can you get the picture now? Not only can you make a lot more power on just the motor by bumping the compression up. The internals can handle boost no problem out of the gate. And on top of that, being a stroker engine it will make substantially more torque. I didnt realize we were talking about who can afford what. That is i mean we weren't until you decided in your post above that we were.
  14. You don't know what your talking about, stop spreading misinformation. The LT8 is a stroked lt1/l86. They all share the same architecture. The main difference is the heads and pistons to accommodate a lower compression ratio to run balls out all the time on 87 octane (401/464). The internals are more durable, no afm hardware, cast block etc. Like I said. Bump the compression up by swapping the heads/pistons, and run 93 octane. It's easily making 500 plus without a cam swap.
  15. Swap in different pistons and heads, plus I imagine they left a lot of power on the table. The 6.0 was 50 rwhp short of what it can do. To the op, you have a great motor on your hands, why not make it a stroker? Cheaper and you'll make more power then a stock 6.2.
  16. Your not getting a ram air effect from that, your basically just letting in more dirt and water.
  17. There's no indication of what dyno it was, correction factor etc. They fabricated that chart
  18. Dyno, otherwise you've got nothing.
  19. Exactly, so why 3.73's? edit. I made the mistake of thinking the op knew what he was talking about...
  20. Lumbar adjustments are only for the lower back, the seat is where your ass goes. I dont beieve they make butt curvature adjustments yet.
  21. Why would they give 3.73's to an engine that peaks lowwww, vs 4100 rpm on the 6.2. You can actually get 3.73's with the 3.0?
  22. No, 6.2 exhaust wont work on a 5.3. Unless you swap in a gm 6.2 y-pipe. 6.2 y-pipe goes from 3 to 3 1/2 5.3 y-pipe stays at 3 At least I think that's how it works. I know you can run kooks 6.2 headers with their 5.3 y-pipe on a 5.3, but cant do that on a 6.2
  23. Compared to Active Fuel Management, which alternates between eight- and four-cylinder modes, DFM features 17 cylinder patterns. That greater authority over cylinder patterns constantly to optimize efficiency and power delivery at all speeds. https://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/general-motors-technology/general-motors-propulsion-technology/general-motors-dynamic-fuel-management-cylinder-deactivation-technology/ I've never heard of popping at that speed, even straight piped. A high end cat back is actually louder, and sounds better. If you loping around picking your nose, I have no doubt gm would have programmed less then 8 cylinders.
