Why not? Depending on how fast you want to go, definitely doable. I think Chevy 3100 was the naming prior to the c/k line, so maybe not the right forum? Either way, these trucks were not built for speed. My 63 tops out at about 55mph, but I also have the original 230, 3-speed column, and original rear end. If you want speed, you would need more gears. Also, they have tons of suspension upgrades for these old trucks.

I read the article that dropped yesterday. Question about axle ratios with the diesels. In the article, the below was mentioned: Axle Ratio: 3.23 (5.3L, 6.2L and 3.0L) 3.42 (2.7L, 5.3L and Max Trailering Pkg. and 6.2L w/ Max Trailing Pkg.) This leads me to believe that the 3.0L diesel will only be available with the 3.23 gears, however, when looking through the specs (see below), the 3.0L says that it can tow 13,200 lbs with NHT, which leads me to believe that it will be offered with the 3.42 gears and the 3.23 gears as it gives both options in the graphic below. 3.0L diesel (lb. / kg)^: N/A 9300 / 4218 (2WD) 13300 / 6033 (2WD & NHT & 20” Wheels) 9000 / 4082 (4WD) 13000 / 5897 (4WD & NHT & 20” Wheels) 9300 / 4218 (2WD short box) 13200 / 5987 (2WD short box & NHT & 20” Wheels) 9000 / 4082 (4WD short box) 12900 / 5851 (4WD short box & NHT & 20” Wheels) 9200 / 4173 (2WD std. box) 13100 / 5942 (2WD std. box & NHT & 20” Wheels) 8900 / 4037 (4WD std. box) 12900 / 5851 (4WD std. box & NHT & 20” Wheels) To me, it looks like the 3.0L can be paired with the 3.42 axle ratio, and tow 12,900 with a 4WD crew cab, short box, & NHT, which would be a nice combo for those looking for a capable tow truck that is also a daily driver (like me).

Hi everyone. I'm jumping in to get some advice, and hopefully it will help the OP as well. I have the same specs: 2017 Double Cab 1500, 5.3, 3.42 gears, z71, Bilstein 5100s. Stock under the hood, stock brakes. And I do not have the max trailering package. I do have integrated brake controller and the trailer will have brakes. I'm looking at a camper with dry weight of 6500, GVWR 7800 lbs fully loaded with cargo, 31.5' overall length. I want to assume I will hit the max payload for the trailer, just to be safe. I'd like to get the board's thoughts on if this is too much trailer for my truck. Obviously a 2500 would be better, but that's not an option right now so please do not suggest I get a new truck, lol. I'll be towing through KY, TN, and GA, so pretty hilly. If you think this is too much, I want to know your thoughts on why GM rates these trucks at 9,000 lbs if 7,800 is too much to tow.

Hello All. I have been searching for a few days now, but haven't found exactly what I'm trying to do. I have a stock suspension 2017 Silverado z71. I'm looking to level it out and improve the ride, but still want a small amount of rake for when I tow/haul. This is my daily driver, and don't do a lot of off-road driving. Most of my driving will be on the highway in the Midwest, meaning horribly maintained asphalt. I'm considering: Bilstein 5100 adjustable on the next to highest (3rd?) setting OR, do I want to do a coilover assembly replacement? I haven't seen anything on these yet: https://www.roughcountry.com/gm-leveling-struts-500063.html?find=2017-chevy-silverado-1500-4wd-374174. Has anyone installed/used these? If so, how is the ride quality of these?? I've seen nothing on the N3 shocks. $329 seems pretty cheap especially when comparing against the Fox and Bilstein 6112. If I go the coilover and shock replacement route, should I just save my money and buy a Bilstein or Fox? Thanks for your help and advice.

Very weird. Hope you get this resolved!

I just did the DL8 to DL3 upgrade and used Phil's custom harness and YouTube videos as a guide. It was truly plug and play. Amazing detail went into building these harnesses. If you're on the fence on whether you should buy GM's or Phil's harness, hands down, get Phil's. You would never know the difference, and you won't have to worry about if it will work or not.

I went ahead and installed it today. Not sure why I was on the fence. It sounds amazing! Slight note change in V4, but no drone. Can barely hear it at idle, especially after driving it around a bit. Cold start will wake the neighborhood! It finally sounds like I have a V8 under the hood.

After intense searching on CL and FB Marketplace, I finally found a good deal on a catback. I was really hoping for the Borla Touring or Corsa Touring, but what came up is the Borla Atak, not that I'm complaining! So I made the deal and it's currently sitting in my garage, brand new in the box, waiting for me to install it. I've watched a million videos (not literally but probably close to it!) on YouTube. I know it's gonna be loud. Do I want an exhaust that loud? How much louder is it going to be after it breaks in? What about when I tow? Am I going to go deaf when driving through the hills of Tennessee and Kentucky? When I was 20, I would have NEVER hesitated to install something like this, but that is not necessarily the case now. I know it's gonna sound BA, but I'm hesitant. Help!

I really like my Truxedo lo-pro. Rolls up nicely and keeps (most) of the water out during hard summer rains.
