  1. Are you doing a soft boot or hard boot? A soft boot is when you turn the phone off via settings or by pressing buttons and moving the slider to turn it off. A soft boot is does not clear out the memory, but just shuts the phone off. A hard boot is when you press the up volume side key, then the down volume side key, then the screen button side key and hold this key until the apple logo appears. This will clear out any running programs and temporary memory files. Your phone will turn back on when it finishes rebooting. I was referring to a hard boot when I said reboot. Sorry if I didn't make this clear.
  2. Whenever your iphone, or any computer-related object starts acting wonky or using more battery than normal, try rebooting it first. Sometimes with the object oriented coded used to develop the operating system and the apps, some parts are left running when they shouldn't be. Rebooting clears out the trash. I think I read that it is recommended to reboot your phones once a week. This helps it run at optimum performance and also clears out anything that could be "spying" on you.
  3. I think the "COMPARE" button was not pressed when the 20" tire was entered. If you look at the right side of the picture where the tires are compared, it is comparing an 18" tire to a 17" tire.
  4. I understand that each tire will spend time at each position. Assuming tire rotation every 6K miles, it will take 18K miles for every tire to be at every position, and after 24K miles the tires will be in the same starting position. I am just wondering about the front to back and back to front difference for FWD and RWD, respectively, rationale. Maybe what's clouding my thoughts is that I rotate the tires frequently so as to not get as much detrimental tire wear from any one position.
  5. I did not know FWD was different than RWD. I checked the owner's manuals for my truck and my Traverse, and they are opposite of each other. So what is the rationale for different rotation pattern between FWD and RWD vehicles? I would think that as long as you're crisscrossing the tires, and are consistent in the rotation pattern, it wouldn't matter. Just curious... Usually when I'm rotating the tires on my vehicles I refer to the owner's manual. Since the pandemic, I don't drive my truck as much as my wife drives her Traverse. Hence I rotate her tires more often. I just got in to the habit of crossing the backs to the front. When it came time for the truck, I did the same pattern.
  6. My 2019 has the SD card for the map. I just looked at the owner's manual for the GMC 2021 Sierra HD, and it says on page 167 the map database is stored on an SD card.
  7. Same here. I use Waze if I am traveling somewhere unfamiliar and need the turn-by-turn directions. Waze is crowd updated so you can get info like accidents or road hazards in your direction of travel. I sometimes use the GM nav if I need a quick view of street layouts in the area I'm in. I agree, $50 or less would be more appealing to keeping the GM nav updated.
  8. All I can give you is 'old man noises'.
  9. Most people fail to realize that in 100 years from now, what they say and how they say it, doesn't really matter to anyone but themselves. No one is going to remember what they said (unless they were someone famous and it got documented). That is why I have been refraining from adding to many of these non-truck related discussions. Folks need to keep the emotions out of their posts, and fact check themselves so that what they say can't be refuted. Provide their sources, not just say "I read it somewhere" or "so and so said it". Really?? There is too much misinformation and extremism in the world. We don't need it here. There are a lot of smart intelligent members on this forum. They are a great source of automotive information. I have a lot of respect for these members. But you know, when a few of them start straying from truthful information, I lose a bit of respect for them. That's my 2 cents worth.
  10. It has been said that technology doubles every 2 years. That means processing speeds are twice as fast today than 2 years ago. Memory/storage is faster and cheaper. Internet and wifi speeds are faster. I spent a career in IT and have watched the technology grow. I used to be 'on the cutting edge' of tech, but with the advancements and costs, I had to quit that 'hobby'. It was frustrating to buy the latest, only to have it become outdated in 6 months. Now I keep my laptop until it can't be updated anymore. Then I buy the best tech I can get within my price point. It is amazing the difference in processing speeds. Enjoy your new laptop.
  11. IIRC - The Onstar Essentials plan is what you need for the remote start app access. The Onstar Connected Vehicle plan is what you need to connect your devices to the vehicle wifi, which is then connected to 4G LTE (or used to be) internet services. So NO, you do not need wifi for the remote start to work.
  12. Ditto on what CamGTP said. Plus since you did a brake job, I would also check to make sure you don't have a brake dragging. If you still have the old plugs, you could put them back in to see if your MPGs go back up. If the MPGs do go back up, then the NGK plugs are the issue. Just a thought...
  13. Just a thought - have you tried covering up the light sensor on the dash so that the truck thinks it is dark out? Have you tried connecting a different trailer to your truck to see if the running lights work? When I connect my bass boat trailer to my truck, I use the trailer light test either on the app or on the infotainment screen to test the lights. Have you tried that? Another thought - most boat trailers use the hitch for the ground. The ground wire from the plug was just stubbed out. I had issues with the trailer lights once so I ran another ground wire from the plug to the body of the trailer to ensure a good ground connection. As mentioned by 64BAwagon, the trailer module is sensitive. A bad or weak ground could cause the issue.
  14. My first guess would be the ground wires for the electrical system. Check the ground wire from the battery making sure it is in good shape and has a good connection to the truck. Also check the positive cable from the battery. IIRC, there could be corrosion inside the cable that could cause issues.
  15. How would the computer know that the battery is changed? It's not like the battery has a chip or something that puts out an identification code. Should not have any issues with replacing the battery. My auto stop/start quit working on my truck when the battery first started going bad. Was still under warranty so had the dealer deal with it. They said that a cell was going bad. I think one of the criteria for the auto stop/start to function correctly is the battery voltage has to be at or above some value. Dealer replaced the battery and everything has been fine since.
  16. Does your truck still have the original OEM battery? That would be my first place to look. These trucks are very sensitive to voltage changes. A battery that is starting to go bad, i.e. bad cell, will start causing all kinds of wonky issues. If you are still under warranty, take it to a dealer. If your warranty expired, try a new battery.
  17. Check your battery and cables, especially the ground cable. See the posts above. When the battery voltage is low, all kind of wonky things happen. Replace the battery if it is old.
  18. have you seen this? https://www.gm-trucks.com/how-to-fix-super-cruise-unavailable-no-road-information-error/
  19. You could try disconnecting just the negative cable.
  20. These trucks are essentially computers on wheels. When your computer acts weird, you do a hard restart on it by turning off the power. After a few minutes you turn it back on and usually the weird issue is gone. I would recommend you do a hard restart on your truck by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes. Then reconnect the battery and see if the bluetooth works.
  21. Welcome to the site. Check the ground strap from the battery to the firewall. Make sure the strap is in good condition and the connection to the firewall is clean and tight.
  22. Try this link instead: https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/
  23. You can decode your VIN at https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/Decoder This will give you lots of details about your truck. Yes, it is a 3/4 ton truck. Have you tried looking at gmupfitter.com for the fuse diagram?
  24. OP, you can change your camera settings to take pics as 'most compatible' instead of 'high efficiency'. Your camera will start storing pics as jpeg then. I used Win11 Photos to convert the OP's picture to jpeg for everyone to view. Enjoy
  25. I'm running Win11. The built-in Photos app will open the file. HEIC files are the file format Apple uses for their iPhones and iPads.
