Mine's RST Z71 and I don't have "Z71" on mine, just the silver plating. Otherwise, looks the same. 2019 model.

I was told to drive more on it to reduce the transmision clunk but.. ugh, I hated that so I started driving the Renault instead. You're right, the seat on the RAM is much more comfortable. People have different priorities when it comes to cars, I am comfortable on anything, or at least could make myself comfortable, so it wasn't an issue. RAM is cheaper for sure and that could translate to better resale value only if its past reliability issues doesn't catch up. Chevy had to discount their Silverado to compete against the RAM so I bought the Chevy knowing it will get better resale. If I were you, I'd wait to see how technologically advanced the 2022 is with the super cruise and all that. That was the only reason I cancelled the 2021 F-150 since it also has a similar feature but it's to be activated in September 2021.. basically when the 2022 models come out. And people say a new dashboard is coming.. no doubt there will be a bigger screen. I am not too crazy about it, especially when I turn the damn thing off and this light gray hue still comes out of it so I know it's not really off.

The damn unsettling thud in the 8-speed after a cold start gets me every time. A few weeks ago, I accidentally peeled off from my parking spot and somebody just complained to the HOA I was peeling off and even submitted a picture of the asphalt with a 4-inch mark. I don't know about the 10-speed, but it seems to be much better. I love the center console, my 2012 F-150 happened to have it and I could never live without it, especially after renting several trucks without it. I'm always carrying stuff so the buttons on the rear doors are nice. The RST has unpredictable suspension with one side staying planted and the other jiggling wildly and going off pavement. At least with the F-150, all four wheels were equally jiggly and easier to control. RAM seems to be the same as the F-150, if not softer. But the knob to select gears.. I want it next to the steering wheel with a stick. I looked at the 2021 Ford F-150, there doesn't seem to be a lot out there that has what I want in it. Starting September, the self-driving part will be activated. I seriously thought about it then I hear the 2022 GMC/Chevy will have that too. I will go for the GMC because of the door buttons. I think 2022 is going to be a big technological leap with Super Cruise. I'm sure with that are a lot of new stuff. Then there's the chip shortage so will it adversely affect the production? We'll see.

In fact, it's been the biggest factor after I lost a huge chunk off of my premium German sedan and it sucked! I looked at the historic gas prices and the days I traded in my used for a new. I am inclined to believe the gas prices don't really make that much of an impact. And the newer trucks have really good gas mileage. That said, with Biden being less chummy with the Saudis than Trump, Biden's plea for an increase in supply will more likely fall on deaf ears. Now, if Biden gives the Saudis the green light to handle the Yemeni situation, perhaps the Saudis will listen. And the RST since 2020 do not have unlocking buttons on the outside rear door handles. That's why I am looking at GMC Elevation instead.

That was what my friend thought when he won a car in Vegas. The dealership neglected to tell him it didn't have California emissions, it wasn't their fault legally so my friend had no legal recourse but sell it out of the state. That was before volume dealerships started shipping cars out of the state at super low prices, it happened way back in 1995. Since Laura GMC has a stellar reputation, I am sure they'll be careful. You're probably right, it's less of an issue. Elevation? I like it too, I think it's the same as the RST. 2020 was when Chevy took out the unlock buttons on its rear door, my 2019 has it, so my next car won't be a Chevy, it'll be the GMC since GMC still has unlock buttons on door handles. I mentioned the emissions because nobody likes surprises. Last time I bought a car out of the state was in 1999 and it was a brand-new Subaru Legacy but I already knew they were 50-state cars and the DMV checked for the sticker. All counties do that.

Just to be REALLY safe, can you have them take a picture of the sticker under the hood? That's the ONLY thing the DMV will look at. They won't care if it passes emissions or it says so on the window sticker. A lot of times, dealers assume that the cars are 50-state just because it's new. I believe all 5.3 V8's are California-legal though, that's only because my Mexican Cheyenne was made for the Mexican market and still has the "California" sticker under the hood. Sometimes a certain engine is 50-state. I don't think Ford's 3.5 Ecoboost is 50-state, but the V8 is. Not sure if that applies to Chevy.

I brought up insurance to deflect the idea of getting a mailbox in a different state to circumvent California's rules. The guy asked about buying a car and bringing it back in California. Congratulations on not registering your cars in California, we're all very proud of you. The OP wasn't interested in that, he was interested in buying an out-of-state vehicle as a California resident. I am a California resident, believe me, I know way more than you do. Now, you're saying you aren't a California resident. "Not sure about California." The stickers in the windshield on Virginia cars are safety, not emissions. Here in California, you don't get a sticker, you MUST have a California emission vehicle to get the tag on the plate. Goes to show how much you know! No, I answered a question about using a mail box for the registration on top of the license. Yes, I did. Threw in insurance just in case some were wondering why it's not that easy. You can move to California and register your car. I already said you cannot as a California resident. Please read "California resident." You clearly were not a resident, so you were able to. Some trucks, including 5.3 Silverados, are 50-state. I know for a fact not all Ford F-150's are. It all boils down to the emissions sticker, the DMV will look for it. Doesn't even matter if the car passes emissions. So, yes, you are coming off as an a$$hole.

The vehicle is registered with whatever address you use.. but that would not fly with your insurance company, they will ask for the garaging location. And in a lot of cases, the insurance will not like it if you were driving it in another state and can cancel your policy. It is not worth the hassle, just make sure the damn thing has California emissions and your'e good to go!

Both my registration and my California plates on the other car use the box address, not P.O., it shows up as a street address.

No, the dealership is not like AutoNation or CarMax, they don't do cash value. CarMax and Carvana offered less than $40k. I usually trade in every 2 or 3 years, the resale value is nice .

It's still too similar to the 2019, I am waiting until the 2022 refresh. Ford decided to keep the cheap plasticky dashboard. At least Chevy's more stylish.

Ohhh, yes, I know the two. I grew up in Capistrano on del Avion and now live in Dana Point, still off of del Avion. Correct, P.O. Box is no good in nearly (if not all) states. But I use the MailBox etc. address and it's printed on my California license.

I believe California goes back six months. And if he's got another state to register in, then that'd be great. I have Mexican plates and Mexican citizenship, but cops still pull me over regularly here in California to make sure I do not live here. The thing is I also own a house in Dana Point so that kind of complicates things. And you cannot own more than two driving licenses at once. I know that because I was required to give up my CA driver's license for a NV one so I cancelled that. However, I do have Baja California and California.

I have a 2019 RST 4x4 with the 5.3 and paid $43k for it - MSRP was $53k. That was two years ago. Ford dealership offered me $42k for it just now.

FE9 code does NOT meet California's code, I promise you that. It will not be registered if you are the original owner and a resident of California. However, if it was purchased used with over 7,500 miles, it can be registered in California.

Be sure it has California emissions if you buy it new there. My Cheyenne from Tijuana has the 5.3 V8 and it's already California, but I don't know about the others. Used cars with more than 7,500 miles are exempt though.. but the DMV will look at the new pink slip and know if you're the original owner so don't try to drive around for 7,500 miles before bringing it in. Just the sticker under the hood will suffice.. if it says "California" - you're good to go. I've bought 50-state emission vehicles and know people who won a car in Vegas and could not register their new cars in California. It was only five years ago so don't assume all cars are 50-state.

The shortest I've owned a car was for 4 hours because it didn't have 4x4. 2001 Isuzu Trooper. I was so mad, I had a 1991 then a 1995. 4x4 was standard. I made the mistake of walking in the dealership and pointed at the 2001 in the lot. I never drove it and assumed 4x4 was still standard. It wasn't so I had to do the paperwork all over again since it was already a "used" vehicle and I lost a lot of money, but, hey, I had to have 4x4 on that ranch! My Cheyenne is an RST with a two-speed transfer case, I am glad I had it. When I got it brand new, I was stuck in a very awkward situation, a car parked inches away from my back bumper, the front tires were leaning against a curb and the front bumper was about two feet away from a brick fence. So glad I had 4L, I could get myself out of the mess that way.

It's clear GM's strategy of creating sexy-looking trucks and offering generous discounts on first-year models paid off very well. Some seem to think GM is better. I don't think refreshing the interior will help GM retain its spot though. I don't expect it to last though. Ford will eventually come back, it always has.

Like others say, wear and tear. I keep mine 2WD unless it's pouring outside.

Handling issues (but I didn't mention it because it's not a "defect", the back fishtails wildly, far more than I'd like even though I've been driving on that same dirt road for over 20 years with different trucks and SUVs. Had the window leak fixed, then the leak under the antenna, on top of that, a lot more recalls than I'd like, as of now, auto start stopped working (not that I don't mind, but a 200 mile trip about three months ago didn't do the trick) and the button to release the tailgate works intermittently (both key and dash), the loud and hard thud in cold mornings (now I start it from a distance walking towards it), etc. I'm not a picky customer but I am not impressed. On the plus side, I like how the front end handles far better than my other trucks. Gas mileage is very impressive when going 65 on a flat surface. The uhh.. short bed (I think) fits me diagonally while the Ford's short bed was way smaller for me.

I have a 2019 RST and am very disappointed with the reliability. It has only 4,500 miles, I drive other cars just to avoid it now. Of about 14 new cars I've bought, the SIlverado is the worst. At the same time, it gets a better reliability score from cars.com....

No way the Z71 has a lift, I have that too and it's exactly the same as the regular 4x4s.

As someone with a back that has landed me in bed for days, a diet change helped quite a bit. For some reason, I am very susceptible to inflammation. The pain was excruciating and it got better whenever I was in bed because I wasn't drinking Coke or eating candies out of the jar. Now, it's healthy food and I try to eat food that lessens inflammation such as eating more tomato sauce, more olive oil, and avoiding alcohol and sugar. And it also got rid of my psoriasis I had for over ten years too, it's also a form of inflammation. Going to the chiropractor didn't work and I was still getting shooting pains in my back when the discs bulged and pinched the nerves. Nobody would operate on it because the discs were fine, just inflammed. I had cortisone shots and the doctor suggested a diet change which did wonders for my back. Now, I'm working on stretching it again because I was stiff for over three years!
