  1. I didn't know about the wear being reduced.. it's 5 psi above the recommended limit at 35 and I thought I'd be wearing it a little more quickly if I deviate from the guidelines. The back suspension gets pretty tricky when I have it at 40 psi though but I don't go four wheeling on it anymore so it's fine with me.
  2. It may be a little over two years old, but I have only 7,500 miles on it and I might have reset it a few times within the first few months of ownership when it had less than 1,000 miles.
  3. Been two years since I started this thread. I was driving back home to Dana Point when I checked to see how many MPG I was getting over the past 400 miles... it was at 21 for a while then I inflated my tires back to 40 psi and saw that gas mileage improved to 22. On highways, I drive between 60 and 65 mph. I hit 75 mph going downhill and 55 mph going uphill. I am very pleased with the gas milage.
  4. Never had a low or disconnected battery. I'm in southern California so it's not cold or hot outside. Never been in 50°F or less temperatures. I will try programming the power windows though, thanks!
  5. Left front window goes back down after I roll it back up.... Is there an easy fix to this? I don't want to drive all the way down for warranty repair.
  6. I have 20" Goodyear Trailrunners on my Cheyenne RST with the 5.3 V8, very happy with it, quiet, great traction on wet roads. I usually drive at around 60 mph and have been getting 26 mpg. Best was 30 mpg on a very flat surface.
  7. I used to think the chip shortage was going to go away soon... but now I am not so sure. And there'll be a flood of Silverados when this is over, I expect big discounts. I am not counting on getting the 2022 even when it comes out in April.. more likely 2023 which probably will come out in October or so...
  8. I'm going to do that but will not get another RST with twin tube shocks, never again!
  9. Keeping your foot firmly on the brakes makes a difference. If you lighten it, the truck thinks you're just slowing down in traffic. I also think having accessories being charged shortens the off time.
  10. And GM is pushing Super Cruise? If they cannot even get that fixed, then I don't think I'd want that. The system malfunctioned, why is that so hard to understand? That's a safety issue here.
  11. I'm at the dealership right now.. yeah, they are out of cars.. not only that, so is Hertz. At least there's complimentary coffee and I'm a huge coffee drinker so that pans out. I have only one car because I live near the beach where parking is at a premium. I'm already pushing it with a big assed truck, but I love driving trucks so much so this is clearly not going to change. Insurance isn't even a hassle, they don't ask for it or make it difficult. Unlike the Benz dealership when I had a Benz, it was always a pain! My credit card, a Sapphire, offers PRIMARY car insurance, not secondary unlike the other cheaper Gold and Platinum credit cards.
  12. It so happens I am going back to the dealership tomorrow to have several issues fixed (left front window going down on its own, check engine light on, and recent brake failure where I had to really push the pedal to get it to stop) along with recall notices and an oil change. The last two times, they had loaner cars so I was unable to see if the policy was in effect. It was just that one time, and they were indeed out of loaner cars that day.
  13. Likewise, I was going 30 on a 35-mph road, foot off the gas due to the caked dirt on the road from the recent floods. I never expected the whole back end to fishtail, causing my truck to immediately veer off-course. I was really pissed when this happened, this has never happened in any of the other 4x4's I've driven. What made it much more dangerous was the front end seemed to do a good job of staying planted but the backend fishtailed wildly, within five seconds, it was already over 30 degrees off-course. Had all been even, I might have slowed down, but this.. is unacceptable. The first thing I did was turn the steering wheel to the LEFT as fast as possible and SMASH my brakes to not hit the guy walking on the sidewalk. Despite the 30-mph, the fishtailing took approximately five seconds, yes ,it was that quick! If I was driving in my lane instead of the middle of the road, I would have mowed down the poor guy. I have never had to do that in ANY of the cars or trucks (and I've driven a lot more than the average Joe). NONE of the cars should FISHTAIL, period. I get it when all get bouncy and the driver has to let off the gas.. but this? If anybody thinks that's acceptable is an idiot. I could not understand why others ridiculed me over it, then I realized none of them have RST with the twin-tube shocks. The sheer ignorance.. fortunately, there's the ignore button. It has only happened twice and I now know to avoid such roads like that. Still, that pissed me off!
  14. I am annoyed by the nagging.. I don't get it, sometimes it kicks in when I am not even past the first stop light from my house, sometimes it kicks in a few miles later. I don't know why, but.. this feature, no, no way.
  15. You're right! It does, thanks for the explanation!
  16. On the SLT, the 5.3 V8 is $4,000 more than the 6.2 V8. With a price like that, I sure as ****** hope they throw in free leather interior for the SLT! Oddly, the 5.3 V8 on the AT4 is $2,000 cheaper. I am going to wait until 2022 then.
  17. I found that starting it remotely as I'm walking towards it then driving it when it's warmer alleviates the problem so I'm okay with that. Sometimes I forget and it lurches forward, it's more of a minor annoyance than a big issue to me.
  18. Eh, I'm no mechanic but I had that issue since the day I bought it, could it be bad from the factory? I had the dealership look at it, reprogram it, and the guy in charge said there was a TSB on it. That was a year ago and I don't think there was that much of a difference in cold starts, but it's a lot better after it's warmed up. Could it be bad from the factory? I know it's over two years old, but it has only 6,000 miles on it.
  19. I have a 2019 with the 5.3 and 8-speed. I had that done too and it seems to have helped. I still have the morning clunks from cold starts, that part seems incurable.
  20. Wild expectations are normal if you're younger. My first 4x4 was an Isuzu Trooper when I was 21 years of age (only because it wasn't sold in Mexico and I wanted something unusual from the U.S.) and I have done a lot of four-wheeling since then with the different trucks at the ranch. We had all, even the Dodge Ram Charger (2WD, not 4x4 though), Ford Lobo, Chevrolet Suburban, so I became pretty adept at four-wheeling. As for 4WD capabilities, this one seems similar to the others I've owned. I bought this one because it was $10k off, a great deal for a first-year model, I didn't have wild expectations, I'm older. A lot of times, the roads are muddy here, so it's nice to have a 4x4 readily available. I'm curious to see if they've fixed a few issues I've had for the 2022 year, but I know I would not want to buy ones with twin-tube shocks.
  21. I simply stopped driving it on the dirt roads (it first happened on a dry road with dirt caked on it from the rains) and I only use it on highway drives. I am aware of the Bilstein 5100, but it seems to be backlogged so I'm going to wait on this. I want to get all fours on that.
  22. Wasn't hitting gas or the brakes, and if you were paying attention, you'd notice others with the same RST with Z71 have reported this. I was the first to mention it because I was one of the first few with the same configuration. Had to deal with stupid people with different trucks chiming in on my driving habits. Hilarious? No, it was a dangerous situation and that should not have happened. This goes to show you I am not the only one. I'm still putting you on ignore for thinking it's "hilarious" - you're not worth my time.
  23. In my RST Z71, I've lost traction because of the violent judders in the back which sent my truck into a tailspin and I nearly hit a pedestrian. I don't drive it much anymore, it was going to be a truck for the ranch but now it sits there nine months a year. I will never drive it again.
  24. The 5.3 V8 was discounted by $10,000 so it was a no-brainer for me. Now the dealers are no longer discounting them, it's making my decision a bit harder. I get around 25 mpg on my 5.3 V8 (best I've gotten was 28 but that was going 50-55 mph all the way on a flat surface). If I can get a Duramax for less than $2,000 more, I'd consider it, because that's how much I'd save in gas mileage after 60,000 miles. Right now, I get $6,000 off for gasoline and nothing off for diesel so I'll stick with gasoline for now.
  25. 10,000 km Report (6,250 Mile Report) Our ranch has several vehicles, Ford Lobo, RAM, etc. This well-optioned Silverado was bought in the U.S. as my personal vehicle in April 2019, $53k MSRP, $43k dealer, with California registration, then I switched to D.F. plates only to have COVID delay my move to Mexico City so I'm still in Orange County and Tijuana. I also owned another Cheyenne down in Mexico but this one is about the first Silverado I had. Best gas mileage I've gotten was 7.6 l/100km (31 mpg) from a slow 55-mph drive on flat terrain from Dana Point to SNA airport to pick up my relatives coming in from Mexico City and back. I generally average at 9 to 11 l/100km (21 to 24 mpg) with about 70% highway driving, 30% city driving, which isn't too bad for a 4x4 with 5.3 355-hp V8 motor. Golly, I was lucky to get 24 mpg out of my overrated Benz C300 with a puny 177-hp V-6! Using hypermiling techniques, I slow down at intersections without touching the brake and hope it turns green before I get there. Consequently, I show my brake pads at 96% front, 98% rear. It was purchased with the intention of using it at the ranch but I found the rear suspension extremely tricky and outright dangerous at times (as other RST owners with Z71 package will confirm) so it became a highway queen. About 2,000 km was from the recent drive down to Hermosillo, and back. For the very first time in over 9,000 kms a week ago, the auto-stop kicked in, then never came back, not even today after I completed a 30-mile drive (with the A/C off). I don't care much about this feature, it's just a gimmick to me. I have learned to start it from a distance while walking towards it so it doesn't give me that nerve-jarring thud and a brief lurch forward when I shift to D from a cold start. Others with the eight-speed automatic will tell you. I like it when the AFM kicks in, the mileage is impressive, and it seems that engine will be dropped from the 2022 line-up. I liked it, it's just the transmission I don't like! Comparing it with my previous 2016 F-150, I can sleep in the short bed because it's considerably wider than the F-150 (I had to get the long bed F-150 because I could not fit in the short bed). With a very miniscule drop in power, the engine gets a lot better gas mileage than F-150 with V8 (16 in F-150 vs. 21 in Silverado). The F-150 had a cig lighter inside the center console storage so I could plug in the fast-charger for my phone, could not do that with Silverado (offers only USB and USB-C). I bought the V-8 because I don't need a lot of power but I would like it to be available just in case, same reason why I have a 4x4 even though I only used it ONCE to get out of a tricky parking situation (front tire resting against tall 1960's style curb, front bumper few inches away from brick wall, and car behind me few inches away). It was nice to turn on the 4L and slowly move over the curb without overshooting. I later found out the base 4x4 models don't have 4L, only 4H with an "electronic" 4L, whew, dodged the bullet there. My F-150's interior could handle donut powder very well, but it gets all over the black upholstery in the Silverado so I am back to eating apple fritters. It had the rear window leak which was fixed. Would I buy it again? Yes. I don't regret the purchase at all. Honestly, between Silverado and F-150, it's a tie-breaker. Both have their pros and cons. My next one would more likely be a GMC Sierra because there's a GMC dealership nearby, while the nearest Chevrolet dealership is 20 miles away. Also, another reason it's GMC over Chevrolet is that my 2019 has buttons on all four doors to unlock, the 2020 and afterwards do not. I love the convenience of going to the rear door and opening it without having to mess around with the key fob. Strangely, Sierra hasn't taken out the buttons from the rear doors. I am hoping the 2022 models will come out sexy-looking though. Frankly, I couldn't care less about the appearance. F-150 is a little more bland-looking and I think it affects the resale value. I only buy it because of the insane resale value!
