  1. I spent the last week commuting in and out of LA from Oxnard, about 55 miles each way in mixed freeway and town driving (101 freeway and sunset Blvd) taking into account normal LA traffic and one day La traffic in the rain. I averaged 24.9 MPG in My Z71 RST
  2. Thanks for the Info, I honestly would have never even checked the supplemental book for any how to's
  3. my son's print went really well for the unit he designed for me (bucket set model) , had to be a two piece due to print bed restrictions and it fit prefectt until it got really hot outside.... PLA shrinks when it gets too hot. he reprinted with ABS and no more issues.
  4. I'm new to the Automotive Diesel world and have been swamped at work so I just took mine in for an oil change, decided I might as well get the fuel filter done since it was sitting at 32%. I don't want to pay that much again for a filter change! is there a certain procedure for changing the fuel filter so I can do it at home? what are the steps to purge the air and pressurise the system? I've done it many times long ago on marine diesels while I was in the Navy, but they were Dinosaurs (kina like me now).
  5. I have to agree with Rotolo, I looked all around ventura county and dealers here either couldn't or wouldn't help me. Paradise Chevrolet even said the truck I wanted them to bring in from Rotolo was already sold, I called Rotolo from the chair in front of the Paradise salesman's desk, they said he never got a call.... I made sure the Paradise guy heard me tell the Rotolo guy to prep the truck for me and set an appointment for the next day. well worth the drive. I told Rotolo I knew what the best they could do on price was and that's what i got. no fight.
  6. The issue hasn’t repeated itself
  7. I've got over 15k on mine and still get the same smell when she gets warmed up. I wouldn't worry about it unless you end up with a puddle. my fluid levels have always been spot on. so I know I'm not losing anything. i was told by many with more diesel experience than i that it's the Def making the smell, remember ours happens under the hood instead of further down the pipe.
  8. I drove it to work and the next time I started up it worked. Similar topic, yesterday the backup camera didn't turn off when it was supposed to. I had to cycle through the menus to fix it.
  9. Before changing the tires ask them to try a set of tires and wheels from another truck, that will tell you right away if that is your problem or if it's an unbalanced driveshaft.
  10. I did something similar with my old Dakota R/T. a cold air setup would have cost $400+ at the time so i set up a hunk of Dryer duct from the factory air box to the grill. ended up doing a number of dyno pulls with it and the expensive setups borrowed from buddies, my $12.00 mod that never even got a second look from the California smog Nazis actually bettered the best of them by 2HP .
  11. I checked yesterday on the GM site, no recalls coming up for my truck at all. I might get lucky on this one.
  12. Thanks, probably come around on my next oil change
  13. What is the DEF recall you mentioned? I just checked mine and I haven't seen anything 2020 3.0
  14. Same thing happened to me twice in the past, it reset itself after the truck being shut off for a few hours.
  15. I got the check engine light and the same codes on Saturday, it was off by Monday when I drove the truck to work. Had an appointment at the dealer for this afternoon but decided to cancel after reading this thread (will also be changing dealer due to customer service issues). I don't have any of the battery drainage issues and the gauges are all good, so Ill try the brake trick and see if the light stays off and wait until there is a fix for the actual issue. I'm in the 3.0 so this obviously isn't a power train specific issue.
  16. if it were and older truck id say have the shop check the voltage regulator, if it's faulty it might be giving enough power to run but not run and charge. I havn't even found my alternator yet on this truck
  17. My son is in the process of printing one up for me right now, it will be a two piece (due to the size of his print bed) but it will sit in the slot's on the top part of the console.
  18. Happened to my truck the day I bought it, at the dealership. one of the salesmen and the service guy came out (both owners also) and said they have had the same issue and had a fix/explanation. Not long ago trucks used a key in the column to start the truck and lock the column. Today we have a push button on the dash instead, so the column lock is not the same any longer. the shifter is locked into park instead. Don't grab the wheel as you are getting into and out of the truck and the problem will go away, the pull/tug on the wheel put it into lock. if you forget and do it anyway it will take you turning your wheel lock to lock numerous times and then it will still be difficult to get it to shift out of park. I've trained myself (and my wife) to use the grab handle instead of the wheel and haven't had it lock up since.
  19. Fortunately I didn’t need to do that, the dealership was trying to make statewide #1 and knew I was willing to walk (and had cash in hand). They gave me a better deal on the first offer than I was expecting after a fight.
  20. My wife has the habit of showing crap into the door pockets of whatever vehicle she’s in And it’s a pain in the butt to clean it all out. Used to be trucks had knobs all over to hang bags on, but not any more, so I had my 17 year old son 3D print a solution for my 2020 Silverado, REMOVABLE TRACH BINS!!! I have one on the drivers side & he’s currently printing one for the passenger side. If anybody is interested let me know ([email protected]) with what you think they are worth and I’ll have him get back to you. Each one takes almost 20 hours to print Individually and we’re guessing a pair would take about 24hrs. They are printed using PLA filament
  21. today at less than 2000 miles my 2020's backup camera stopped working, all I got was the warning symbol and a crossed out camera icon in the display. Drove to work and waited 45 min and just went out to check it again and it works now. Any ideas? I don't have the lane departure stuff or forward camera.
  22. I picked mine up two weeks ago, 2020 Duramax, RST, Z71, leather, Bose... sticker was 57k paid 48k for the truck out the door tax, title, licence, 6000 mi extended (Zero deductible) 55k.. I'm in California.
  23. I Picked up my Duramax RST Z71 Crew Cab Short Box on Saturday (30 November), the drive home was just under 100 Miles in rainy day Los Angeles area traffic. if any of you have ever driven in that you know how white knuckled I was the whole trip. the Truck performed perfectly with an average of 28 mpg and a best of almost 33 mpg. I Didn't even turn the sound system on until the day after, I love the Bose 7 speaker setup, even watched Star Wars on Netflix while linked via my IPhone. the park assist is a godsend when my wife drives, I really don't want to replace my garage door. I've still got to get used to the height and larger turning radius over my previous truck (Built 2000 Dakota R/T) but I'm getting there. After researching and shopping online, and in person at non Duramax trucks, I found mine (and no others in the entire state) in Fontana. My local dealer in Ventura told me the truck was sold, so I called myself and made the drive the next day. I'm Glad I did, Rotolo Chevy was a very good sales experience. So far I only have three issues: 1: There has got to be a way to disable the auto shutoff for good. 2: Is the software available to upgrade my infotainment 3+ system to have navigation? if so the dealer parts and service guys don't know about it. 3: What the hell is up with the shift lever getting stuck in park if you accidentally use the steering wheel to get into or out of the truck or bump it a little after shut- off? I'm getting tired of wrenching the wheel back and forth over and over again just to get moving. Diesel on base here where I work (Port Hueneme) is about the same price as mid grade so I'm happy about that, as my last truck got 10 mpg hwy on a good day.
  24. I've got the lighted side mirrors, they don't turn on when moving but will just about blind anybody next to them
