  1. I had it on my Excursion and thought it worked as advertised.
  2. We have a daughter that lives 550 miles from us which I would call as far as I want to go dragging the camper. Another hundred would be doable, but tiring especially doing it again on day 2. My favorite way to travel is stay in camp to have breakfast, drive 250-350 miles and set up in the new location. Downside is it's really hard to get anywhere very fast doing that. If you have the time, taking 3 days to go 1300 would be reasonably comfortable to me. Of course that means 3 days to get home and nearly a week of your precious vacation time on the road. Only travel tip I have is check your tires pretty close and feel the wheel hubs for temp every stop. China bomb trailer tires often give a little clue like a bulge or weird wear spot before they go off if you are watching closely and a little fortunate.
  3. Actually Ford made 2 turd diesels, the 6.0 and 6.4. Agree the Ford must have already been sick when he made the pull. Still an impressive performance by the Chevy.
  4. That was impressive. Oddly enough you tube served that same video up to me too.
  5. Nothing in particular planned, but we don't tend to plan that far ahead. In April we went to NC for 6 days at Jordan lake rec area visiting daughter. Probably do some state park trips around Ohio. We just got a cabin delivered at our property a few hours away, so at the moment we are heading there most of the time bringing the tractor instead of the RV. Might do a trip to Utah in the fall, but that is still a definite maybe.
  6. On a completely unrelated note, I bought a 1983 Thunderbird and did a factory tour the week it was being produced. Always an interesting place to visit. Maybe they should do something similar to the Corvette and offer factory delivery. (No HD museum!) I suspect the dealers would be very unhappy.
  7. I grew up in the city during a good time to grow up there. (be home when the street lights came on) Then my job sent me to the country and I couldn't imagine moving back to "civilization". Of course all my kids that grew up out here all live in the city.
  8. 48K on my 2020, it says front brakes are 92% and rears are 94%. A good part of that is I live in the country and have very minimal city driving. Been very satisfied with the brakes on this beast.
  9. Just turned 45K I've been putting this off until summer and will just do the best I can to get it warm. Knowing some of the people that call themselves dealer mechanics, it surely has to be close enough. (no offense to the very competent ones!) We just traveled down I-77 in WV and VA and the highest the transmission ever got was 169, but was mostly staying in the low 150's. The truck didn't care it had a lumbering 9000lb box tagging along.
  10. It will all become apparent once you start prying. Caps popped right back on for me. Might be able to get a racheting box wrench on it.
  11. It looks worse than it is. Get in there with a small pry bar and pry up on the wire loom. It is fastened to the top of the bolts that hold the shock on with a cap that goes over the stud. Once you get some room, you can get in with an open end wrench 1/3 of a turn at a time.
  12. That's pretty good, almost like "normal". (aside from the $3500 rebate they offered back then) I ordered my 2020 on Jan 31 and picked it up March 31 right before insanity hit.
  13. I changed mine out for Bilstein 4600s. Definitely noticed a difference, better control over bumps especially with a trailer on the back. Wife noticed nothing.
  14. When I think of the words farm and forklift, I don't think I would want a $2000+ tailgate.
  15. I'll spoil it. 16.5 straight highway and 15.7 combined with a little city driving. TFL also has a video out with the new diesel and the all important 0-60. 7.7 @ 5000' elevation.
  16. Not so sure I see a lot of benefit for the user aside from burning more fuel, not exactly an emission benefit. Best we can hope is it makes the system last longer.
  17. My 2020 rear diff has a drain plug. Changed the oil in it last month.
  18. Wondering about highway towing with this engine. Let's say towing a 9000 lb travel trailer along at 65-70 and you come up to a hill, how much RPM gain does it want in the form of a downshift? How much of a hill does it take to call for a downshift? Would the 10 speed allow less of an RPM increase?
  19. If it is like the diesel, you have to use tow haul for it to use 1st gear.
  20. We are a few years and one air traffic controller strike from having a pretty similar story. I was lucky enough to get an A&P license in HS way back in 1979. Worked for a small cargo outfit on Beech 18's for a couple years, a year at the Gulfstream (Aero Commander) factory flight line in Oklahoma, and then I took the ATC test and got hired to do that. A bunch of my classmates ended up in Tulsa working for American. Prior to 911, we got a fair amount of jumpseat time to see the other side of the microphone, only way to fly!!
  21. Coincidentaly, I just got a letter from my selling dealer that they want my 2020, cash offer. blah blah I might stop by one day and see how eager they are for my trade in. I bet some dealer in Atlanta is just as eager for a 22.
  22. Wondering if the NAV will work at all if you are in an area with no signal? (places I would rather be!)
  23. I'll go out on a limb and say YES they did on that rig. Probably shouldn't tow faster than 55 with it either.
  24. Are they actually assembling 24's now? If so, are they just misc trucks for dealer stock? I was also wondering why there hasn't been a media drive event for them yet, does that indicate more delays?
  25. I will say the 10 speed in the diesel is the best truck transmission I have driven by far. Knock on wood, it never does anything weird and never seems to be in the wrong gear. Shifts are super quick and you barely feel them, it just goes. I see no reason it won't work just as well with the gasser. I am very curious about how well this gas combo will tow. I see a bunch of people here with 8-10,000 lb campers that seem to be pretty happy with the 6 speed combo. Actually have had a passing thought of maybe trading mine in on a gas truck again. On the other hand, this truck has me spoiled.
