  1. Thank for the responses guys. I have not have any issues with my a/c as of yet. It's blown ice cold air since the day I got it.
  2. Hello all. It's been a little while and I have a question. My truck turned 7 years old back in October and per the owner's manual, the a/c desiccant should be replaced. I got a quote from a dealer and it was $1,000.00 for parts and labor. This is the only service that has not been completed as of yet. Do people feel this is necessary to do? I'll do it if I have to, but I wanted to get some feedback first. Thanks.
  3. Which cylinder was this?
  4. Have you checked to see if your radio is up to date? I wonder if something is glitched in the software and it needs to be updated.
  5. Have you gone into the radio settings to see if it is full with other phones? Maybe it has too many phones attached to it and it can't take anymore. If that doesn't work, I'd try unhooking your battery for 30 minutes to reset everything.
  6. Congrats to you too! It's a wonderful feeling isn't it?
  7. Not a mod, but did one of the best things you can do. I made my last payment today.
  8. There is a recall for this generation where the brakes lock up on one side. I know you said your front brakes were locked up, but this might be worth looking into: https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/10/certain-general-motors-k2xx-trucks-and-suvs-subject-to-safety-recall/#:~:text=Affected%20components:%20wheel%2Dspeed%20sensor,have%20been%20reported%20so%20far.&text=The%20fix:%20dealers%20will%20reprogram,Contacts:
  9. I will say this. It is expensive, but what I found is that HP Tuners is also great for diagnostics too. It makes a really nice scan tool.
  10. The software to download on your computer is free. The OBD module is $400.00. It cost $100.00 to unlock a 2014 to 2016 truck and $200.00 to unlock a 2017 to 2019 LD truck.
  11. If you go to GM’s parts website, you can search for it and then get the part number that way.
  12. In 2024, GM Authority exclusively brought you the first details about GM’s next-generation full-size half-ton pickup trucks – the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. Now, our spies have just caught the very first prototype of what we believe is the 2027 Chevy Silverado. While the heavy camo on this truck makes it difficult to figure out whether this is a Chevy or GMC, we have our reasons to to call this a Silverado (and not a Sierra). In any event, what we see here is the Crew Cab, Short Box configuration. The upright front end features a set of placeholder (non-production) headlamps bookending a grille with at least four horizontal slats and a front-facing camera peeking out from behind the cutout in the camo. Note that the headlamps are mounted quite a bit lower within the front fascia than those on the current Silverado 1500... 13. The different levels of parts are listed on GM’s parts website. Here is their description:
  14. Will the Gold brake pads last as long as OEM and stop the truck as well?
  15. I'm not sure how smooth the sand is there, but where I live, everyone has to air their tires down to 15 PSI when driving in the sand. I would recommend doing that right before driving on the beach.
  16. Per OnStar's website, there is an error with the OnStar hardware that needs to be fixed.
  17. Even if your check engine light is not on, the computer can still store codes. I would have your truck scanned and see if anything comes up.
  18. My bad. I though you could.
  19. If you know someone with HP tuners, they can recalibrate it for you without having to purchase credits.
  20. The driver door will not lock when trying to lock it if the door is open and the key fob is in the cab. It’s to prevent people from locking their keys in the truck.
  21. I’ve had an on and off issue for the past few years and I can’t figure out how to fix it. When I start the truck after it has been sitting for an hour or so, I will have a surging idle. It surges 500 RPM between 1000 RPM to 1500 RPM. It will start surging after several seconds and then will level itself out several seconds later. If I put the truck in reverse or drive while it is surging, it will immediately stop. It only does this when the coolant gauge needle is right below the 185F mark. I’ve never had my scan tool plugged in when it does this so I don’t know what the coolant temp actually is. It does not do this every time I start it when it’s warm. It has never done this on a cold or hot start. If I clean the throttle body and MAF sensor, it goes away for a little while and comes back. I have also done a throttle position relearn and it still comes back. I always make sure that the air induction system is on tight. I do not have any stored codes. I do not have any other throttle relates. My truck has the 5.3 and has 58,733 miles on it. I tried uploading a video, but the website says the file is too big. Does anyone know how to fix this or is there a TSB out there regarding the issue?
  22. Do you happen to know anyone that does emissions testing in Jersey? If so, you could ask them and see what they say. The only state that I've heard of that goes in and actually looks for a tune is California. If Jersey doesn't do this, I'd think you'd be okay.
  23. Why not just have it turned off by a tuner? Have you had a lifter fail?
  24. Keep it until it starts nickeling and diming you.
  25. I used to have this issue when I bought my truck. The faint smell would come from the coolant reservoir. I made sure the reservoir cap was on nice and tight and haven't had any issues since. It's been a few years now since I could smell it coming from there.
