  1. I'll let you guys know what happens. Been working a long stretch, including this weekend. In the mean time. Having a couple Trail 7 Stouts tonight to partake with the festivities.
  2. I can manage 16-17 at 80 with cruise on if the grades and traffic aren't bad. What's nice though is when you have to get on it to get by somebody at freeway speeds, you have a lot available. 2 lanes, when able to manage a constant speed around 60, it'll see 18. Just 12 around town. The mileage was a little worse before it was broke in. I was worried taking it up to Michigan's Upper Peninsula much, would eat at the wallet. Fortunately, without much freeway use up there, it did pretty good. Not towing of course, but more of that coming soon hopefully.
  3. Just wondering, the own muffler being so large, if larger pipes would be any benefit without the little glass pack, or if it would still be to restrictive to matter. Honestly, it's the pipes in front of the muffler at the cats, that's looking quite rusty already.
  4. Pryme Why are super duties so high? So their owners don’t get their dresses dirty climbing in and out. thank you thank you I’ll be here all night. The engineers took it to hart that the fat chicken wouldn't be able to get in. It makes a funny anecdote, but now the Ford crowd can't get dates.
  5. Would be interested in a before and after of towing with this set up. I'm guessing without a load, the engine being torque sensing, is defeating any benefit.

  8. 2020 6.6 Has Custom Still not quite 30,000 miles. My 3 year bumper to bumper warranty expired April 30. Just a few days before, my orange CE light comes on. Only thing noticeable was that it would not allow remote start. It didn't seem to go into any other default settings. So I went on line to schedule my service. They can't get me in for a couple of weeks. Finally get serviced a few days after having changed the air filter and an oil change an the u tell me my purge canister is bad. Will be almost $300. So I ask about the warrant, having scheduled the service prior to the expiration. They say it's a no go, as GM will only go off the date the computer is connected to the truck. This northern Michigan dealer is below par anyway, may get a hold of another dealer a couple hours away this time. So I get the truck back and the light is out. They cleared the code, without having saying anything and all was back to normal. Now a week and a half later, the truck won't start via remote this morning and the light is back on. I haven't looked to see how difficult it is to get to the cannister yet. Wondering if anybody else is seeing a CEL much? Looks like I'll probably start looking into a catch can. I love this truck, but if this is gonna be a thing, I'll start reviewing my options. Any GM customer service listening? 6.6 gas, 29650 +/- miles.
  9. Grew up a couple blocks south of the Diamond Reo plant in Lansing. It was vacant by then. I remember coming home from a weekend at grandmas one Sunday night, we saw the sky glowing over town. Come to find out the whole plant was burning. We were close to the railroad spur that fed it, so we had a clear view out the back of the house. Those flames were a lot taller than the trees. I want to say that was around 81 or 82.
  10. Early on, 2019-2020, there was a lifter bulletin for some 6.2 and 6.6 engines depending on the date they were built. Maybe something is showing itself again?
  11. Did you go with full led or the hybrid? Did you trade your originals in?
  12. I've been running lasfits for almost a year with no issues. The SRLs come on when put in gear. If you don't want them on, turn the headlight switch all the way left. It will return to center, but that deactivates them.
  13. There is a write up in the half ton section here. There was also a Silverado custom Facebook group. You need a jumper wire and a either an lt cluster or high country, direct from WAMS. "Whites Auto Media Service to get the right side controls to function. I haven't checked lately,but rock auto had the best price on leather wheels.
  14. You can also leave a 110 charger plugged into the 110 outlet and whoever want to use it can plug their own cord into the chargers USB.

  17. I know this is an older thread. Would you or anybody else that did this mod be able to post a picture in the dark, from inside the can. Wondering about any glare off the front of the truck.
  18. Thinking of pulling the trigger on a retractable this year, myself. A concern for me as already mentioned was winter freeze up. Figuring I'll try to take advantage of the built in inverter in the bed and try running some heat tape along the bottom or back side of the box the cover rolls into. Should warm it up enough on a longer drive to keep it thawed, hopefully.

  20. The 6.6 is essentially a beefed up, but detuned version of the 6.2. 6.2 being one of the best recent engines introduced. But if you want better numbers than the other guys, you could go this route. https://www.enginebuildermag.com/2021/01/gms-6-6l-lt-iron-block/ Without researching the 6.4 or 7.3 for longevity myself, I'm inclined against the 6.4 at least. The 6.6 suits my needs, and has a lot o new features to preserve it long term, hopefully.
  21. The motor is suppose to be torque sensing, so hopefully when you truly need the power, it will compensate. Either way, the components are heavy duty, as well as the overall truck. Pulling my boat with the 5.3, I was reminded frequently it was back there. With the HD, it was more of an obtw.

  23. I have a different experience. I tow similar to you. 5000lb boat, dru weight+trailer,fuel and gear pushing towards 10,000. Night and day from my previous 5.3 4 door. Empty, the 5.3 gets better around town. On the freeway, they're comparable, except the 6.6 HD is way more stable and accelerating to pass at speed limit+ is much quicker in the 6.6. It is doggish getting out of the hole, due to being torque sensing and not giving full torque without a load behind it.
