  1. Glad a fuse solved part of the problem. I had the exact same symptoms as your #2 description. Two different trucks with previous trailer. Problem would be nearly constant back and forth one day and then fine the next. Intermittent nature made troubleshooting a nightmare. I was led down the path of trailer plug, truck plug, umbilical cord, ..... Often I thought it was fixed (intermittent) and then the messages come back. Finally found a shorted wire inside the axle tube (lamp cord kinked) where the brake wires were run from driver side to passenger side. Fixing that really fixed it. That shorted wire was completely burnt in two. Best I could tell in the end, when it would bounce around and short against the axle I would get the Check message and brakes inop. Really bad part was at the end I don't think I had brakes on passenger side even when Connected message was displayed and controller worked. The wire would bounce around and no longer be shorted against axle so Check message would go away, but by the time I discovered it the wire was certainly not sending any current to passenger side brakes. In the beginning of troubleshooting I had checked and did have brakes all around during Connected message. Evidently the short eventually burned through the wire and I falsely assumed Connected meant everything working and Check meant nothing working. Long post I know. I fought with this for 2.5 camping seasons. Wish you better luck than I had.
  2. I found a lot of electrical schematics at GM upfitter dot com when I had questions. good luck
  3. Any resolution to this problem? Sure it didn't cause an actual problem with the trailer brakes? (loosened magnet, connection, pinched wire, etc...) I guess I would have started with trailer with that message.
  4. 2500 here (60/70 on the door). I have been running 58 front and 55 rear when empty. No lights. Tires look great >10k miles. I air rears up to 70 when towing my travel trailer. I really don't ever carry a significant load. I do have the 20" wheels and Trailrunner tires.
  5. Sierra 2500 SLT. 4WD, Driver Conv 1, assist step, skid plates, aux battery, 20 inch wheels. No sunroof or 5th wheel. 3385 for the payload.
  6. Reliability with the six speed would not be a concern with me. The transmission has been around a while and is pretty much considered bullet proof as far as I know. One could argue advantages or disadvantages of more gears, rpm ranges, fuel mileage, etc., but I wouldn't worry about reliability. I pull a fishing boat and a 10K lb RV and have been very satisfied.
  7. I can probably guess, but does anyone know for sure the charging amps provided by the USB charge ports (specifically rear seat ones). Thanks
  8. Love it. Think it looks rich and nice to have something besides black. Light seats no worry for me. Stuff pretty much just wipes of the leather. I did put in weathertech floor liners in the cocoa color. Good match. Be bold. Good luck
  9. Same with me and the gasser. No trouble getting stopped, just seems like a lot of pedal pressure.
  10. Yes, they just snap into place. Big enough to grab hold, wiggle and pull off. No need to remove wheel or anything.
  11. The chrome surround is held on with some 'snap tabs'. The letters are held on with their own snap tabs, 2 per letter, that go through the chrome surround and into the cap itself. Neither seemed to have any adhesives. The letters could be removed without removing the chrome surround. I just popped the caps off the wheels and very carefully pushed the letters off while squeezing the snap tabs with some small needlenose from the back. I did not pry on the letters from the front. Was able to get them all off and and back on without a single break. Good luck
  12. On the truck. Now the wheels match the front and tailgate emblems. I just thought the two reds clashed. I will try to report back if I have any problems.
  13. Will have to wait and see how it holds up. It said good for wheels and plastic. Was able to get a pretty good prep so I have high hopes. I think they look pretty good and I never did a clearcoat over the Duplicolor. Prepped, Drying, Installed in center caps
  14. Stuck caliper? Shouldn't, but it happens. Although it was an unfamiliar vehicle it happened when I was driving once. Never felt any pull or steering warnings, but it sure got hot. No fire, but lots of smoke, melted grease out of bearings and damaged wheel.
  15. Excellent. Thanks. Now to see if I have any wiggle room at all.
  16. Anyone know the trim height Z measurement, or range, for the 2020+ trucks? I wouldn't mind lowering my front a little if there was some room left with the torsion bars. So close to level as it is that any trailer tongue weight pretty much makes me nose high. Even a half inch would help. Thanks
  17. Digital variable power steering I think missing. Not sure about the LED heads. I was mostly looking at GMC and they had two levels. Also on the GMC I think the tails were only LED with the upper package (if that is important). Good luck
  18. I feel your pain. I want black GMC on my hubs. Already blacked the front and rear GMC emblems. Just don't think the red goes with my Cayenne Red paint. Just ordered this Amazon.com: Dupli-Color EHWP10800 High-Performance Wheel Coating Gloss Black: Automotive a couple days ago to try. We'll see how it works. Good luck
  19. Anyone have the front shock torque values for the 2020+ HD trucks? New mounting style compared to previous models and can't find any manuals anywhere yet. Putting Bilstein 4600s all around because I liked them so much on both of my 1500s. Thanks
  20. OP, good info. Thanks Any interest or possibility of adding some torque values for things like differential covers, drain/fill plugs, transfer case drain/fill plugs, oil pan plug, transmission pan, etc. I think many, inclulding myself, would love to see them. Thanks
  21. 3 or 4 pumps each, just enough to see the boot swell a little. Probably just a couple pumps each oil change from now on. I use Lucas Red & Tacky #2, same as boat and RV trailer bearings.
  22. Sorry all. Found the last two. When I turned the wheels to the right to get better access to the zerks on top of the steering arms, the driver side lower ball joint zerk magically appeared. Finding the one on the passenger side was easy after that. :). I feel good to be in the 9 zerk club with everyone else. Cheers
  23. Hi all Checking things out on the '21 Sierra 2500. I have read on this forum to expect 9 grease zerks. I am only finding 7. Excuse my descriptions, but: tie rod ends (2), streering joint just behind top of front tires (2), steering arm next to motor (1), steering arm on passenger side (2). What / where am I missing? Doesn't look like they were touched during my 'courtesy' oil change and rotation. Thanks
  24. My symptoms were the same, including the little brake controller light. NO, I have not had the issue again after finding/fixing the shorted wire in the axle. Still don't know if issues other than a short can trigger those symptoms. Good luck
