Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes? This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado. I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue. Thanks,

Just traded my 2022 Silverado for a 2026 GMC Sierra 1500. I put my spare rims (winter tires) on the new GMC yesterday and went to re-sync the TPMS sensors, but no go? Using the same sync tool I have used since 2022, there is no response from the GMC when in learning mode? Apparently GM has changed the truck so that the 2022 sensors no longer work? I did try the sync tool on my 2022 cadillac and it still works perfect. Looks like I need (4) new 2026 compatible sensors.

Hello all, My 2022 silverado 4X4 crew cab with NHT (Max Tow) out of the blue last month threw a check engine light. The truck has 110k and had basically been trouble free besides the A/C compressor that extended warranty covered at 99k. Anyways the check engine light came on around 1/1/26 and these were the codes, U01B0,U0623,U0632,U0633 and U1345. A reset only gave me about 80 miles and they all returned. So before I really started to dig in to this issue, the radiator plastic end cap decided to crack about 3" on the drivers side a few inches from the top! Crazy, a 4.5 year old radiator goes bad! So this problem takes precedence and I find a NHT radiator, not easy, but get it ordered and begin the disassembly process. New Radiator was 3 business days out, so i did some research on those codes. One of them referenced communications with battery module and one was talking about the radiator shutters and electric fans. So as I was looking in front of where the radiator goes I see a connector that would be right where the shutter drive motor would go. The NHT trucks have the shutter system deleted from the factory, but they left this 3 conductor female connector, open to the elements, no safety block off plug. Well it was loaded with green corrosion and road salt residue. The Hot Rodder in me wanted to just cut off the connector and tape them up, but I got a pick and with wd-40 cleaned all the residue and put some dielectric grease on them. Re installed radiator and began putting miles on the truck and to my surprise the check engine codes have all disappeared! As of today the truck is at 112k with no issues. Something to look for if you get this set of codes. Flattop

Hi Folks, I recently did front brake pads and rotors on my 2022 Silverado 1500 4X4 (75K miles) and as suggested I disconnected the negative battery terminal. It was disconnected for about 4 hours and when I reconnected all appeared good. Brakes work great, but when I paired the phone it only stays connected until the truck shuts off. Then on a restart it says no phone connected. What could possibly be causing the phone not to be permanently paired? My phone still works and stays connected to my other 2022 and 2024 gm vehicles. Thanks in advance

High Mileage Club for the 5.3 and 6.2
flattop replied to Bamacommander's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
66,000 on my 2022 LTD Silverado 5.3, Mobil 1 every 5000 miles. Had trans flush at dealer at 60,000. Engine uses about a half quart every 3500 miles, but other than that no issues! -
Regearing Trailboss
flattop replied to Blake Stiff's topic in Engines & Drivetrain (V8, Duramax, TurboMax)
The 3.0 diesels offer 3:72 gears with the Max Tow package, so those should be available for your trail boss? You probably have the standard 3:23's currently and those with taller/heavy tires probably are not to snappy. Tuning the 3:73's is something that has to be addressed to accommodate the transmission and other rpm based functions of the ECU. Not sure if anyone has accomplished this yet? -
I have tested this old style 20" rim (2017 Silverado) on my new 2022LTD. No clearance problems on front or rear. They will need the newer 433MHz TPMS sensors to sync with the newer trucks. These were the "chrome finish" rims that lasted until 2 days after the 3yr 36k bumper to bumper warranty and then flaked off. Found a local powder coating company who did these for me. $125/wheel sandblast and powder coat. Flattop

I have a 2022 Silverado LTD RST 4X4 with the 5.3 and the 8 speed. Its by far the best shifting automatic transmission I have ever owned. And I have owned about 13 new GM trucks in the last 25 years.(All automatics) I have 20,000 on it now and have Zero problems with anything on this truck. It has the Max Tow package that includes the 3:42 gears. This thing rips through the gears and has a lot of get up and go for a heavy truck. Driving on the NYS Thruway, driving conservatively, it gets 20mpg!!

lifter failure Please vote
flattop replied to Big_Kahuna's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
11000 miles on my 2022 LTD Silverado 5.3 and not a single problem yet! I am changing the oil w/ mobil 1 every 5k, not going by OLM. My Last 2017 silverado went by OLM with mobil 1 and had a lifter failure at 92,000 miles. It was one of the standard lifters, not one of the AFM lifters. -
2022 LTD RST 2200 mile review
flattop replied to flattop's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I love the mirrors, but this is my second NHT/max tow truck, so i am used to them. My 2017Silverado had the older version towing mirrors and max tow package. When hauling the camper they are a necessity. -
2022 LTD RST 2200 mile review
flattop replied to flattop's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
yes according to the build sheet it has DFM. It has been very transparent so far. -
Hi Folks, I picked up this 2022 LTD ( limited, I guess the last of the 2021 parts) RST 1500 on November 4th. It was a truck I ordered in August. 5.3, 8 speed 4X4. Crew Cab Short box. I was told it would be a 2021 with no DFM, but this is what arrived at the dealer. After the test drive, I was hooked. I did get the dealer to throw in a 5 year 120k powertrain warranty to calm my fears of the dreaded DFM and all of its issues. Well I am happy to report that this thing is Awesome!! I had many reservations on this model, with all the 8 speed issues, rear window leaks & of course the DFM lifter issues. I have about 2200 miles on the truck to date and its been flawless! It has the NHT package (MaxTow) and with the 3:42 gears the thing really runs great. The 8 speed is very crisp, shifts thru the first 5 gears up in the 3000-3400 range and really makes this thing fun to drive! Fit and finish is very good, getting around 16.5 mpg average with our terrible NY winter blend fuel. One thing I miss from my 2017 silverado is the text notification/display. Flattop

Please help me identify these wheels/tires.
flattop replied to Carpenter283's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
They look like American Racing rims, but try looking @ tirerack.com and go to the rim section and you may find a match. Load your specific truck/color and it will display the rims you select on the truck to give you a good visual. -

Is this new noise law specific to NY and Manhattan counties only? -
2017 1500 double cab value
flattop replied to flattop's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Thanks, I just figured out the carmax site. It had info loaded from months ago when I was trying to sell another car an it kept saying I need to schedule an in person inspection. Now it loaded the 2017 vin and I just got an offer of $18,400. Not to bad i guess, just drop it off and pick up a check, no typical private party issues. -
2017 1500 double cab value
flattop replied to flattop's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
No, I have not talked to the local dealers yet. I figured with these high miles, they would only send it to auction. -

Hi Folks, I just picked up my new 2022 LTD Silverado and now will be selling my 2017 Silverado. Just trying to get some opinions on what to expect from a Carmax type dealer? The 2017 is a double cab LT with the Max Tow package (3:73) gears ect. It has a lot of highway miles, 148,****** at this point. Overall its still in really good shape, no rust dents or accidents. I bought it new. (the cam and lifters were replaced by the dealer @ 92K, thanks to extended warranty). Most everything except rotors and pads are original. From what I heard from a few local mechanics, the transmission is the ticking time bomb. He has replaced (2) 2016 silverado transmissions recently, both right around 150K!! KBB says around $16,800 in good condition for a trade in or wholesale. Is this correct in today's crazy used car pricing scheme? Thanks, Flattop

That's the kind of mileage we should all expect from one of these transmissions!

Yes twice with Mobil 1, zero change in symptoms

I have a 2017 Silverado with 142k and am shopping for transmissions. Mine is still drives, but exhibits the rumble strip vibrations randomly and the general clunky shifting has gotten worse. I got a quote from a local (Rochester, NY) Chevy dealer today. They quoted $4875.00+tax for a GM replacement transmission. It comes with a 36 month, 100k warranty. Two day turnaround. Not really to bad, but these things should go more than 140k before falling apart. Two buddies with 2016 Silverado's both had transmissions go right around 125k. They used a local garage and found rebuilt transmissions on-line. They spent almost 4k. Has anyone got over 150k on one of these 6-speeds?

Can I temporarily disable hill start assist?
flattop replied to MissouriMiner's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
I know on my Camaro, you just pull up on the e-brake one notch and Hill Assist is disabled. Not sure on these generation HD trucks if that works or if you even have a mechanical (old school) E-brake?
