  1. I was considering doing this in the future with my 2024 AT4, so thanks @Joe97281 for being the guinea pig and reporting on these issues. Sorry it's not working out nicely for you. I like the idea of all OEM components, but I might just do everything except the DSSV and get Bilsteins or splurge on Fox/King.
  2. I'd LOVE to do this in my 2024 AT4 3500, but I suspect the angled dash in the AT4/Denali trims would make this difficult as there probably isn't any trim piece to replace the space under the dash where the console used to be. If anyone ever tackles it, please share!
  3. Ah, why didn't I think of that?! But for real, I was just messing with you. Sometimes sarcasm doesn't come through well via text .
  4. Yeah, @paauto, can you please remove that sound-deadening material, put your interior back together, take a dB measurement, then re-do everything so we can see the change?
  5. I may be wrong, but I'd imagine lowering the truck would diminish some of the GVWR/payload, which might not be great if you're towing a 5th wheel. I agree with the power steps recommendation, but that obviously wouldn't help with the hooking up/unhooking of the 5th wheel.
  6. Well, I guess if he filled it until it dripped out of the hole (giggity) it would be at 0mm. It can't really be above the fill hole unless he shoots it in with a bunch of pressure (really, I'm not trying to do this) and quickly plugs it.
  7. I assume this is your truck (YouTube account has the same name)—did you ever figure out if this was normal or an issue? My 2024 HD gasser with the 10-speed "Allison" makes this same noise, but isn't as noticeable as yours in the video all through the gears. Mine is most noticeable in 4th-6th under light load.
  8. I wonder how many people have had the problem again after having the switch replaced? My tailgate spontaneously opened a couple times in the first month of ownership before the dealer fixed it and it hasn't happened since. They claimed it was a faulty batch of switches shorting out.
  9. So I did some more scientific testing on this (duct taped my phone in the engine compartment and under the truck near the transmission), and I'm almost certain this noise is coming from the transmission. When the camera was in the engine compartment you can only faintly make out the noise at certain points, but when it's under the truck you can hear it clearly. It seems to happen most noticeably in 4th-6th gears under light load. In doing research, it seems like the 10L80 in the GM/Ford 1/2 tons make a similar noise and dealers are saying it's "characteristic" of the 10-speed. I'm not sure if the same would apply to the 10L1000 in the HDs. I don't know if this is just something I should live with or at least take to the dealer to document it and have them claim it's "normal", because the truck otherwise drives/shifts fine.
  10. Even the Stillen web page doesn't really mention any benefits other than "reduced intake air temperature", but it doesn't specify how reduced that is. My guess is it does basically nothing.
  11. Yikes, this was one of my concerns before I bought my 2024. I get pretty much all manufacturers are moving this way on anything but the base trims, but it would be nice to have the option for physical gauges. The setup with physical speedometer/tachometer and the supplemental digital display in the middle seemed perfect, in my opinion.
  12. Someone just posted this in the main HD section as well. I just had my truck in for warranty service this week and the dealer didn't say anything. The article says ~3,000 trucks are affected, which is a pretty small number, so most of us should be in the clear. If you search on that program number in the article there is some info that the stop sale was started in October, and the program notification started in late November. Hopefully those of us with affected vehicles would have been contacted by now, but who knows.
  13. Dang, where did you see this? Edit: Just found this. Looks like it's about 3,000 trucks, and there is no info on whether it affects certain trims or 1500/HD models. https://www.gm-trucks.com/gm-issues-stop-sale-order-silverado-sierra-roofs-are-splitting-apart/
  14. Took my truck to the dealer today for my oil free change and asked them to top off the diff fluid as well. They confirmed it was low, filled it up, and got it all documented. I don't suspect this will cause any long-term issues, but at least I have the paperwork.
  15. Just to clarify, is the 0-10mm for both the 11.5" and 12" rear ends, or just one or the other?
  16. I actually just went ahead and scheduled an appointment for them to do it. I'm at about 4,800 miles and have 2 free oil changes with the dealer (I changed it myself at 1k miles), so I just figured I'd take it in for an oil change and have them look at it tomorrow. Either way I'd rather have them document it and do it in case something happens later on (which I doubt).
  17. You guys got me all paranoid so I went out and checked mine, and sure enough it was a full inch below the bottom of the fill hole on my 2024 3500 gasser. For those of you topping off (not doing a full drain/fill), are you just topping off with AC Delco 75W-90, or picking up just any brand from the auto parts store? About how much will it take to get it in the 0-10mm range? I'm debating taking it to the dealer just so it's documented, but it's a hassle taking it in since it's 40 min away.
  18. I get all the electronics in the HDs are "new" for 2024, but GM has had the same system in the 1500s since MY 2022, so we thought it'd be safe . Mine has had map lockups quite a few times, but using Android Auto seems to be much better than the on-board maps. Now that my data trial is up, I've just been using AA anyway.
  19. Ha, you're right. He even said he went a long time that oil change. I think the manual calls for 7,500 mile intervals? I've done 5,000 miles or every 6 months on my trucks. I usually only drive about 5-7k per year, so usually every 6 months. I'm not quite at 5,000 yet on my 2024, but I didn't notice any loss when I changed it at 1k or a few dipstick checks since then.
  20. A buddy of mine has a 2020 Silverado 2500 with the L8T and said he used 2 qts of oil over about 8,000 miles, so I guess that's within GM's "normal" tolerances. He also tows a 37' bumper pull travel trailer with a loaded weight just under 10k lbs, so it works pretty hard.
  21. I do wonder if a lot of the people claiming they've never used oil actually check, or of they have the dealer always change their oil and have just never heard anything about it. There is a common issue with the Toyota 5.7L 3UR-FE where not enough of the FIPG seals on the cam towers get applied at the factory and oil ends up leaking out. I had two different Tundras and both had the leak, but tons of people claim they "don't have" the issue, including two people I personally know with Tundras. However, they didn't actually know they didn't have the leak, they just didn't know they did (kind of the absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence thing). When I checked their trucks for them, they both had the leak. Anyway, my point is that people claiming they don't have oil consumption issues might partially be people really just saying they don't know if they have consumption issues.
  22. Pretty ridiculous that the TSB says the "fix" is seam sealant, then suddenly when it's out of warranty the dealer says the fix is a full replacement. Boy, I wonder why that is??
  23. Finished mine a few days ago and it was pretty easy overall. The headliner is a bit stiff along the front windshield. The most time-consuming part was mounting the new OBD port as the bracket they provided doesn't fit great with the 2024 OBD mounting location (not sure if this is any different than pre-2024 models). There is a metal tab in the stock location that keeps the bracket from sitting flush, so I just took some vice grips and bent the tab back.
  24. I just picked up the Thinkware cam with my GM points and am going to install it in the next couple days. How did you route the cable to the rear camera?
  25. The power steering noise is known and considered "normal" by GM. I agree it's annoying, but good luck filing a lemon law claim with something that is technically functioning normally.
