  1. Wow, OK, thanks for the info. I called my service department and the advisor was saying he thinks you can just disable it in the settings somehow, but I'm sure he was thinking of the inner tailgate lockout function. I don't think there is a way to just lock out the entire tailgate. I may just do the wire cut method you mentioned if that's the official fix for now.
  2. Well, guess what happened today for the first time since they replaced my tailgate switch in July? I parked and it opened about 3 inches away from a concrete post—luckily didn't hit it. I guess I'll be going in and having them disable it. I wonder it anyone like @MTU Alum or @newdudeknows what the dealer does to "disable" it? If it's just unplugging the switch I'll do it myself, but if it's software-based I'll obviously have to take it in.
  3. The recall finally showed up in my GMC app. Looks like all they're doing now is having dealers disable the tailgate switch, if you choose to do so, then will replace the whole assembly when parts are available (who knows when that will be).
  4. "Don't use the built-in Google system and use AA or CarPlay" seems like a cop-out answer on the dealer's part. However, I would agree that it's the best answer. I had the "signal not found" issue several times and the only fix was to reboot the head unit (hold down the end call button on the steering wheel for ~10 seconds while in park). After my data trial ended I've just been using Android Auto and it seems to work much better than the built-in maps. Other people have mentioned software updates fixing things, but you have to go to the dealer for the update.
  5. With average pin weight of 20-25% of the trailer weight, you're looking at around 2800-3500 lbs. My 1-ton SRW gasser has a payload of a little over 3900 lbs, so a diesel will have a few hundred less than that. Some people might even recommend a DRW...
  6. If you're towing that heavy of a 5th wheel then definitely get the 1-ton. Not sure where the extra $20k is coming from, though. Trucks with identical trim/features should only be about $1k different between a 2500 and 3500.
  7. Seems like a while for a high-volume dealer. The only luck you're going to have with another brand though is maybe RAM. I ordered a Ford at the same time as my AT4 (last March) and it's just now being shipped...
  8. Yes. If you want to spring for the AEV edition I'll happily trade you my AT4 20s for your 18s, or just buy them from you.
  9. This is why I ended up in a 2024 AT4 gasser. The Super Duty I drove just felt like a tank, especially with the steering/handling. I also couldn't tell much of a power difference just driving around.
  10. Nice-looking truck! That doesn't sound too bad. I think ~3 months is probably about average for ordering.
  11. I'm not implying that AA is better than CarPlay, just saying maybe Google didn't give much attention to making sure CP runs great on this system. Not sure what you mean by "Android Auto is crap". Are you saying you don't like AA or that it also runs poorly in your truck?
  12. I wonder if this is just Google's way of giving the middle finger to Apple since the GM infotainment system is Android/Google-based. Android Auto has always worked great.
  13. Take a look at this: Doesn't look super easy, but it also seems doable. I was trying to replace the AT4 badge on my 2024 AT4 grille and decided against it (the badge is really tucked in there), but if I was replacing the whole grille I'd definitely give it a shot myself. Not sure how much more work the bumper is, but I'd imagine once you get all that trim off it's probably not too difficult.
  14. Looks tight! How much room you got in the front?
  15. Trans Medic Transmissions out in Gresham has always been great. Not sure if that's too far from you, but I've worked with Kaare (pronounced "Cory") and he definitely knows his stuff. I can't tell you if he's specifically had experience with that converter kit, but it wouldn't hurt giving them a call. I've had him work on my vehicles over the years, and my dad has had him work on his TH400 for his old Buick, so I'm sure he could point you in the right direction at the very least.
  16. Rust on the tip? Time to trade it in, RIP Big Red.
  17. The good thing about not ordering it with leather is you can probably get higher-quality aftermarket leather for around the same price as the "leather" package is on something like an LT.
  18. I originally had an LT with the bench seat, Z71 Sport package, and leather on order. My wife gave me the green light to get an AT4 since I liked the looks better, so I went that route. My buddy basically got the same LT I ordered and I have to say it's pretty nice for the money. The LT with a few options is probably one of the better values in the HD market for sure. I love my AT4, but I really wish I had the bench seat.
  19. I haven't seen a Titaniun Rush in person yet, but in pictures it looks like a really cool color when you can see the blue/purple in certain lights.
  20. Agreed. I had a somewhat tame exhaust on my Tundra which was cool around town, but towing for hours at a time I wanted to bash my head against a wall.
  21. Yeah, sadly it seems like 90% of the dealers out there are like this. Luckily my GMC dealer was great beginning to end (salesman is an old car buddy of my dad). I originally wanted Thunderstorm Gray, but he told me right away I'd have to wait at least another 5 months so I ended up getting white. Now that I've seen Thunderstorm in person I wish I could have been more patient, but that's another story...
  22. Yeah I forgot about the shuttle, what was I thinking getting a 1 ton?! Ha, wow. That pin weight might be a few lbs over...
  23. Take a look and make sure your hotspot is enabled on your truck. When my free data trial ended I thought I could go and disable the truck's hotspot since I no longer had data, but you actually need it still to connect to your phone for wireless AA/CarPlay. I wasn't able to re-enable it myself and had to contact OnStar to do it.
  24. I'm like a few others here and don't tow anything massive (27' Coachmen Apex), but towing with our old 1/2 ton (Tundra) was less than pleasurable. Once we got the family loaded up and gear in the bed we were definitely over payload. Everyone likes to get on the forums and say "I can't even feel it back there!" when they tow a 10k lb travel trailer with their 1/2 ton—yeah, sure you can't... I could have gotten away with a 3/4 ton, but after driving one of those and a 1 ton I couldn't notice a difference, so only costing about $1k more I just went with the 1 ton gasser in case we ever get a larger trailer. Anyway, towing with this is MUCH better, and the 10 speed has been fantastic.
  25. On a related note, the F350 I ordered in March at the same time as my AT4 HD (which I picked up in June) is finally in production this week. However, it looks like the dealer added the Lariat Ultimate package that I specifically did not want (I confirmed this on the order sheet they gave me as well), which would have been a real bummer if I actually still wanted the truck. Would have sucked to wait a year and have to start all over! I'm guessing the dealer just figured they'd get the extra allocation and then sell it to someone else at a markup when I decided I didn't want it because they screwed up the order.
