  1. I think your post above of "A quick search Mobile 1 price I would buy Amsoil oil" could be read one of two ways: 1) Mobil 1 is still so expensive you'd rather just spend the money on Amsoil (this is how I read it). 2) Mobil 1 is cheap and therefore inferior (I can maybe see this based on your follow-up post). Either way, based on you saying that you buy Amsoil because it's a good product, the comment on Mobil 1's price seems irrelevant unless you meant it's cheap and therefore bad.
  2. I put the Kirkland 5W-30 in my 2024 gasser and don't burn any noticeable amount of oil between changes (I go 5k).

  4. Pretty much any time I'm over 65 I noticed the MPG hit, especially when towing.
  5. The update dal1980 is likely referring to was just for Bluetooth call static/crackling on trucks with the updated infotainment/interior (2024+ on HDs). If yours has static during other audio sources then it's likely something else, unfortunately.
  6. My 2024 AT4 does this when the rain sensing is on the lower sensitivity settings. The wipers will activate when the sensitivity is changed, and I think the lower setting is more likely to get moved when using the signal (if that makes sense). If I turn the wipers completely off or turn up the sensitivity it doesn't trigger the wipers when I use the turn signal. It's poorly designed, and it doesn't help that the signal lever is extremely stiff/hard to operate.
  7. I think you're on to something there.
  8. Yes, the skill of the installer plays a big part. I'm a bit outside the Portland area and yes, we get lots of rain! I used a reputable local company (two different times for different incidents, unfortunately) and the installs were great. I've heard mixed things about Safelite (I assume you meant Vancouver BC, not sure if Safelite is up there), but just do some Google research on companies in your area and you can probably get a good idea of who's good. Good luck!
  9. I haven't had to replace a windshield on my truck (yet, fingers crossed), but I've had to replace on other vehicles a few times over the years. I haven't had any issues with replacements, but just make sure the company you go with uses OEM-quality glass. You'll just keep your same mirror/dash cam, but will have to likely replace at least the mounting tape for the dash cam mount. Our Highlander had a dash cam and "Safety Sense" camera and everything worked as normal after the replacement.
  10. Well, it's a truck infotainment system that was introduced in the 2022 model year. Just needs to be able to run some map and audio apps... Pretty sure Y172 and newer upgrade it to Android 12.
  11. No, the "issue" is that since the fuel is injected in the combustion chamber rather than the intake port it's not washing the back of the intake valve, which leads to the carbon buildup. It won't matter what type of fuel you use.
  12. I'm also curious what the initial symptoms were.
  13. Denali Ultimate with a 12" lift and a 99:1 wheel/tire ratio is clearly the way to go here.
  14. Interesting. I drove a 2022 F250 Tremor before I ordered my 2024 AT4 3500, and the rough ride and heavy steering in the Tremor is what pushed me to the GMC. It sounds like post-2022 is much better, though?
  15. The masses read "can tow xxxxx lbs", then think that's what they safely can tow. I kind of feel like manufacturers need to similarly advertise payload, because that's where people run into trouble. Most half-tons can easily tow around 9-13k lbs based on configuration, but the max payload on anything other than a bare bones work truck is maybe 1,200-1,500 lbs. A 13k lbs travel trailer is going to have a tongue weight well over 1k lbs, so you can load yourself and a sandwich before you're over payload.
  16. I would guess that most trucks that could possibly have valve body issues are still under powertrain warranty, which might explain why private shops aren't seeing any (yet).
  17. I looked hard at both the GM 6.6 gas and the Ford 7.3. I don't really have anything bad to say about the Ford, but it came down to ride quality and the GM rides so much nicer with the IFS, in my opinion. It's still an HD truck so it's not going to feel like a half-ton, but it's not terrible. I've had my 2024 for almost two years now and haven't had any issues with the transmission. My towing situation is similar to yours and the truck does fantastic.
  18. I have a 2024 L8T gasser with the 10 speed and mine does the exact same thing under the same conditions.
  19. Yeah, I was planning on sending in another sample after my next change or two. My sample was from the old rinsed-out lemonade jug (rather than as it was draining out of the oil pan as they recommend), so I wonder if some water left over in the jug settled on top and contaminated the sample and affected the viscosity.
  20. Got the UOA analysis back today. Thankfully, it appears as if they at least put the correct oil in it. I'm just going to stop worrying about it since it doesn't appear anything adverse happened as a result—I'm just glad I'm done with the free dealer oil changes!
  21. So today I figured I'd take a look at the PCV valve hose and found the little nipple it connects to, as well as the inside of the hose, has oil all over it. I understand the purpose is to allow vapor to escape the crankcase, but should there be this much?
  22. I guess my main concern is that if any damage was caused by the overfill and/or wrong oil, when is it going to become apparent? The only way to tell if anything has been damaged is to tear the engine open, which I definitely would not want them to do. I can just see something popping up five years down the road due to premature wear because of this, then I'm SoL since I'm out of warranty.
  23. All I know is if I put 10 quarts of the wrong oil in my engine and needed warranty work, I'm sure GM would gladly deny my claim.
  24. Yeah, I've done my own changes my entire life until I started buying new vehicles and got the 1-2 first free oil changes. That's what I get for not checking their work before I drove it home...
  25. Yeah, well I'm posting in the L8T section and just mentioned the Duramax to possibly explain why they put 10 quarts in. I still have the used oil, so technically I could prove it's all the same stuff.
