    Check a few posts earlier in this thread by MTU Alum. He says the Y175 update should be available OTA "soon" (not sure how soon), but some people in other threads mentioned being able to get the update at the dealer. Luckily nobody likes me so I rarely have anyone to talk to on the phone, but I agree it's a very annoying issue.

    You're likely on the Y172 head unit software, which causes crackling issues. There is a recent Y175 update available at dealerships, and supposedly is coming out as an OTA update soon.

    Yes, those should fit fine. Some people even report 295/65s fit, but others report slightly rubbing at full lock.

    I was going to say there's a slight rattling noise when I have the HVAC on when I come to a stop (comes from the passenger side), but listening to your video that sounds nothing like it. I'd definitely get that checked out! Hopefully just something a little loose vibrating a bit.

    I went from a 2010 Tundra to my 2024 3500 gasser, and my old Tundra rode like a luxury sedan compared to my Sierra. That said, my HD isn't terrible. I also wasn't a fan of all the V6 turbos or cylinder deactivation on all the new half-tons, so the gasser HD was attractive.

    I believe they revised the serial data module recall to no longer update the head unit (separate from the serial data module) to Android 12 somewhere along the way, probably due at least in part to this issue.

    I'd give it some more time/miles and see if the fuel gauge moves at all. As for the blinkers, my turn signal lever on my 2024 has always been very hard to turn on and off. Turning off a right signal was especially difficult, so I had the dealer look at it and they agreed. They replaced the lever and now turning off a left signal is difficult... Not sure if it's the lever or something in the steering column.

    I have a 2024 gasser and my transmission is spotless. That's not to diminish what these guys are going through, but I wouldn't let it scare you away.

    Nothing yet. If the recall is supposedly fixing an issue with battery drain during OTA updates, then hopefully they can just send out a quick OTA update to fix this crackling.

    Have the HDs been experiencing the valve body issue as well? Seems like I've only seen it talked about on the 1/2 tons, but that's just anecdotal.

    I'm wondering if anyone's VIN is showing up on this yet? Just curious as to what the build time frame is on affected units.

    Good question. It doesn't seem to mention any symptoms that indicate this service is needed, so how do they determine which transmissions are affected? VIN list?

    Good luck with the class action. But for real, it's BS that GM is saying it's our fault. The first time I brought my truck in for this last year they tried to say it was my trailer, but I had zero issues with my old truck. I also hooked my trailer up to two of my buddies' trucks and had no issues, so it's definitely this new controller.

    There have been a few threads started on this on some of the other GM/AT4 forums, so I figured I'd get one going here with the hopes that GM can get a fix going on it. People (including myself) are reporting crackling/static noises during Bluetooth calls on new vehicles and those that have received the Y172 software update. When I brought it up to my dealer while I was in for a different issue they also mentioned someone who was in right before me complained of the same issue following the update. Please let us know if you're also experiencing this.

    If you do go in and get the Y172 update, pay attention on Bluetooth calls to see if you have any popping noises. Mine started doing this after I got the update, and my dealer said others mentioned the same thing after the same update.

    Normal or not, I think the mirror design on this generation is pretty bad (as well as ugly).

    You sure it's not that normal "new engine" smell? New vehicles have a weird smell when oils/coatings on the engine burn off. It usually goes away after a month or so.

    Is that not normal? My 2024 does that on severe bumps and I just figured it was designed that way. Kind of like a bridge having some flex to withstand forces. Since these are so long with just one point of attachment they might want it to bounce like that? I don't know, though.

    I had this done about 45 days before it was a recall (determined it was the same part number) and haven't had any disconnects since. I have solar on my travel trailer and had constant disconnects before I wired in a breaker to turn off solar when towing. Now I can leave the solar on with no issues.

    My buddy's 2024 gasser makes the same noise and I've had a few other people tell me theirs does that as well, so I've just chalked it up to normal transmission noise. It drives and shifts fine, so I'm just not gonna let it bother me for now.

    Yeah, it's hard to tell from the clip but it does seem a bit more high-pitched. Let us know what you figure out at the dealer.
