  1. It's leaking that bad? Is there a hole in the side of it where it has worn through the case?
  2. They ignore it because for the most part most don't know to change it. It's not pushed like oil changes. Not to mention most don't read the owners manual.
  3. I'm surprised that there isn't commercial out for having transmission fluid changed out like there is for motor oil. One would think that the oil companies would want more money coming in. It seems what ever is widely marketed is what happens. For me the transmission fluid should be changed out at least every 50k. I've gone longer running AMSOIL, like in my 2002. Ran it to 100k and had a UOA done on it and it showed it was still good and there wasn't any major wear material either.
  4. If that is diff oil then it will stink like diff oil. You can't forget that smell if you ever changed out the fluid before.
  5. 82 for the week here but getting a cold front that will bring down the dew points to the 50's instead of the 80's which will feel nice for a change.
  6. This is how they make money. Making you come in for service that you can't do yourself.
  7. I always check mine before I put it in. I put it in a pot of water and watch it as the water starts to boil. As for installed, keep an eye on your temp gauge and it should be the same as before you replaced the thermostat.
  8. How much have you been wiping off? From the time you took it off the lot until now? I wouldn't worry about it for now and just keep an eye on it.
  9. Same tag, but do you know for a fact what year, engine drive the one you found came out off? If the same then you are good to go.
  10. Yes, highly suggest changing out all the hoses and HVAC couplings. May as well do the belts as well while your in there if they have not been done. 15yrs on them even if the mileage is low isn't a good thing. Not expensive.
  11. Just curious as to when you purchased your truck and how many miles on it. I would push the issue and at least have them change out the fluid.
  12. Get a quote from the dealer and then do a search in your area to see what shops would be able to help. Looks like you can get a rebuilt one online for $2,900.
  13. It might not make a difference but for the cost of fluid I would change it out and see what happens.
  14. Yes, 75w-90 is what you need and you will need 3qts. It will not take the whole three quarts. Fill it to the point that it is about a 1/4" below the fill port on the differential. No limited slip additive is needed. If you are interested in using AMSOIL and their new squeeze packs let me know. I can quote a cost delivered to your door for the three squeeze packs.
  15. That was a major loss in $$$$. Blueberries are expensive.
  16. This is why I put mine in Auto 4x4 when pulling out in traffic making a right hand turn. If i don't then I just light up the rear tires.
  17. That is also a great idea. It will wake it up some for sure.
  18. Newest PF63 filter is GM part# 12707246 Use the actual part number for the correct filter.
  19. I think you would be better off finding a 3.4.
  20. Heck, even the Rubicon is $50K, At least the ones I have seen that have simple features, Nothing fancy and include standard 6 sp manual. If I prices out a diesel then it would be $50k+
  21. The last run on my 2002 Silverado before I sold it was 100k miles on the AMSOIL ATL that was in the 4L60E. The UOA came back good but I changed out the fluid anyway. I think the fact that I installed AMSOIL from the beginning made a difference over off the shelf fluid. I change all vehicles over as soon as I get them. Well except for my 2019. The dealer has to do the transmission in that since there isn't a fill port that is easy to access.
  22. No, that is why there is a filter. But if they are saying they flush the filter then that makes me believe that it pushed what the filter caught out into the fluid and you don't want that. Drop the pan, remove the filter that is dirty, replace with new and go from there. Dexron VI has been out since 2006 so it is a better fluid then the old dexron III but GM's isn't a full synthetic
  23. Just curious but why add make up oil if you are going to change it out real soon?
  24. Not sure how soon with the chip shortage going on.
