  1. Just get a 7 pin 4 pin combo plug?
  2. 8 litre gas with a 10 speed would be really awesome. One thing about the 6.6 is the familiar platform and simplicity. If they make a big block and keep the same system id be sold. (And maybe a bigger fuel tank ?)
  3. Did the dealer fix it? Honestly they should do that stuff at their bodyshop and not the standard mechanic bay
  4. My chevy 3500 LT is not having this issue are there different designs??
  5. Lol, reading the manual is the first thing I do. I looove reading manuals! Which is hilarious because I hate reading novels.
  6. I once accidentally bought a curt hitch with a big drop in it to accomodate a lift gate. Does anyone think, long run, on these tall trucks it would make better sense to install a dropped hitch that was not 4-5" taller then hitches of yesterday so we arent running these massive drop hitches? Or is it kind of a moot point and not that critical
  7. Do you think that may cause fuel pump issues in the long run? Ive heard mixed concerns that low fuel will cause fuel pump to heat up and not cool
  8. I doubt you would have noticed if they didnt tell you. I have a 3500Hd and really wanted a 2500HD. I cant tell a lick of difference in ride quality between the two
  9. Hi, finished a long trip to South Dakota and while there I managed 340 miles from Sioux Falls to Box Elder. Towing around 9-10mpg average. I dont gamble normally but I did there. The fuel meter from 1/4 to empty moves fast! I made it into the gas station on empty and computer estimated I only had 10-15 miles remaining Refueled with 34.478 gallons and did not "top off". I would say the fuel range estimator was spot on. Sometimes these trucks have 36 gallon sized tanks but people see empty range around 28 gallons or something not even close to listed capacity. so in summary, it does appear we get full use of the 36 gallon tanks (although I would never suggest you do what I did)
  10. So some context on the pictures, top of shank is 23". Per fastway the couple should be no more then an inch or so from the hitch height at level. Level hitch coupler is like 20.5". The drop shank got me to about 20.5". There isnt much squat but the squat goes away with the appropriate washer setting and equalizing bars loaded. To reach 15" coupler height, its going to look really odd lol.
  11. I had to buy a specialty 6" drop shank from fastway for me e2 setup. My trailer actually has a low hitch height. The previous towing veh used a 2.5" drop shank and the lowest setting was not low enough to tow the trailer level. While I dont use the lowest setting on the 6" max drop, I will tell you the difference in hitch height from my 2002 chevy to my 2020 chevy was an increase of just under 4". I calculated the 6" drop would put me in the sweet spot.
  12. Same with mine, i have a 2019 micro minnie. oddly enough it DOES recall my brake gain setting so who knows
  13. My last truck was an 02 I bought new and got a decent trade in for it with a paid off car. Ive saved ever since and just recently bought a 2020 HD. So it took me 18 years? There will be a "crash" soon with these trucks. Many buying diesels are young guys who cant afford it.
  14. I need some cheap rubber on my 15" rims to wheel my 63 c10 around. the truck currently has 4 15" rims that are in decent shape and the rubber tires are useless, they range in sizes of 205/75/15, 235/75/15, and 225/75/15 Im having a hard time finding used tires in that size near me but plenty of other used tire/rim combos. I heard gmt800 wheels will have to small of a spindle and offset to work and any 15" trailer tire might work. anyone know a widely available modernish rim/tire combo that might work on a 1963 c10? That way I can search that as well.
  15. Hello! Im bout to be a owner of a beat up 1963 c10 with an unknown inline 6. Im very familiar with gmt800 truck platform but really know nothing about these. Can anyone point me to some good general resources to get me educated?
  16. What a nightmare of a thing to do to a truck. Is this all from the mall crawlers running coal all the time? DEF was not the main reason but one of the little reasons I didnt want to upgrade to Diesel. If I didnt need the power I certainly didnt need the hassle
  17. Watched a TFL video of the ford getting 9.83 towing a 5,000lb equipment trailer. I bet its much worse while towing a tall travel trailer. The 10 speed sounds like its good and strong, but GM probably will edge them out on fuel efficiency.
  18. I put the half ton cheap GM running boards and we (me and dealer) were surprised how nice it turned out
  19. Been there with the backing. Would you consider just going with an old school wireless mount with dedicated video screen setup? im going to try and build an under-dash cubby that will hold or mount a rear view camera screen.
  20. Im starting to get signs of rust in certain areas, it is inevitable but hopefully I can stay ahead of it
  21. Seems like these threads are useful for people as the questions are always coming up. 2020 3500HD CrewCab Gas Towed my Travel Trailer (7,000lb gvwr, probably around 5k-6k loaded weight) four hours distance on rolling hills. Average mpg was about 10mpg. The fuel tank and combined mpg made towing an easy going experience. I towed for four hours and didnt even need to fill up before getting to the RV park. Issues: I don't like the hitch ball camera, i find it is not as reliable as my "hitchin' stix". Its my first time but I just cant align it right using video only. The sleeve 2" to 2.5" seems to have tons of play, didn't seem to cause any noticeable towing issues. Not sure, but my dash would randomly detect no turn signal connection but everything seemed connected fine. Sometimes the truck didnt recognize I had a trailer connected. Did some unplugging and resetting and seemed to fix it. And not surprisingly, parking and city navigating is not fun. Its doable, but its important to look at an area and pre-plan to realize parking garages and small busy parking lots are practically impossible to use. This truck width wise will take up all of an average space and needs extra depth as it is quite long. Positives: engine braking in tow mode seemed rather responsive. Several times I wanted the engine to drop gears and it seemed to do it automatically. A couple times it didn't, Im not entirely sure what triggers it but I liked it when it worked. Cant compare it to the 6.0 4l80 but towing with this was such a dream compared to my 2002 1500. I like the trailer app and running the light test before leaving. The trailer brake gain was easy to adjust. Visibility was good. MPG was good. I wasnt expecting miracles when towing a giant wall behind me. I imagine the air resistance is primary stressor vs weight. I didnt notice any unusual gear hunting. Interior was super comfy, I have the optioned leather interior for LT trim. Remote start was great to cool the interior down before getting in. I wondered if an HD truck was overkill for my trailer and I will deliver an emphatic NO. A half to can tow it but its not a fun experience especially when you drive over a long distance. Next trip will be to the mountains and Im really looking forward to it. We will get a fifth wheel at some point in five years or so and its nice to know we made a good long term purchase. (to preface this, I towed this same camper for two years with a 02' 1500 Ext cab 5.3 with towpackage)
  22. I will grease mine, but ill do it lightly. I dont want to burst the fittings
  23. Ive seen newer vehicles with big rust spots. I always take a peek underneath at the chassis. Michigan vehicles always stood out as being terrible underneath. When I bought my 2020 it was fantastic underneath. It wont last forever, but I will take much better care spraying the undercarriage then I did my 2002. those pics you showed...they look like a very neglected truck with a few years of heavy road salt
  24. Those bug foam sprays seem to do a good job. They seem to have the same consistency as goof off but DONT know if thats a good idea! sometimes bug foam remover is the only trick that works for me. ??. Tip, dont wash your car or dry it in the sun when you do this. Make sure its washed away too
