  1. I wish the gas engine trucks had a smooth top hood without the scoop and had all the raised bulk removed. In my opinion the existing air intake routing looks to be better then trying to rig the center hood scoop anyway.
  2. Im having this problem again too. Is the issue the GM mechanics are not orienting the brake pads correctly and just slapping them on like any other? If I remember the TSB didnt it say the inner/outer facing brake pads on the caliper were slightly different?
  3. My beat up 5.3l v8 was pinging with 85 octane towing a 4500sh lb camper. I filled up with 87 and it was fine. That happened when I was driving up in the mountains west of colorado springs. On a newer motor perhaps its less of an issue, but imo i put in what the manual tells me to.
  4. Yet another shocking issue reported with little follow up. give me the juicy details!
  5. I do not like the REV hard folding one. It has quite a bit to do with the dealer installing it however
  6. How bizarre. I will give my 2 cents. These trucks have hill hold brake assist and electric auto parking brakes. If you are suddenly getting locked out wheels, all I can think of is your parking brake is engaging. Perhaps they will find a shorted cable connected to the parking brake equipment that only causes intermittent parking brake engagement that normally wouldn't be triggered otherwise. You said the truck wouldnt move and "N" was flashing so you moved transmission to N then back to D. Perhaps that is what reset and releases the engaged parking brake.
  7. Dumb question but you are installing this on a allison/duramax platform?
  8. You said Back truck brakes lock up and not the trailer brakes or your front brakes? I would assume its the trailer, right? What kind of aftermarket equipment or software modifications do you run? Do you have any collision detection options?
  9. Well Chevy definitely didnt hide the massive size, its basically glorified and in your face. I dont like it, but the new 6.6 gas one me over the older 6.0. In the future, Id be interested in a reduced hood as aftermarket for gas engine if its possible, would add about 1-2 inches in forward visibility. Whats funny is I get really great gas mileage, so go figure! Lol. When I park next to 2019 model HDs, the size difference is less apparent.
  10. Thats an interesting solution to the problem, let us know how it goes. I reduced front end height by about an inch to inch and a half with a proper adjusted wdh
  11. Can anyone lend any advice on getting the puck system set up or installed on a 2020 3500HD gas that did NOT have the fifth wheel prep package from factory? I have a lot of experience with bumper pulls but nothing with 5th wheels. Looking at trading up our camper to a small sized fifth wheel. I have LT package convienence packages if that helps at all. My bed had a plastic liner in it covering the top part, but I dont recall seeing a puck system ready to go when I had it installed, pretty sure it was solid steel bed.
  12. Only issue ive had is a leaking rear sliding window...very minor and just showed up. Its a widespread problem. If your goal is having a sturdier stouter truck its pretty awesome for that. You moving to a gas v8 with 6 speed transmission may leave you unimpressed or downgraded from the souped up v6 Ram ecodiesel. While its not fancy or flashy hp/torque and 10 speed, this truck and gas engine is simple and built like a brick house.
  13. Im now having water drip down on top of the rear window. I cant find the old thread on this, are dealers fixing it right yet? LT crew cab with sliding glass rear window no roof 18,300mi
  14. https://www.gm-trucks.com/gm-launches-maps-app-navigation/ I will give an update if Im able to use it
  15. Interesting thanks! It was a 2500 gasser and was a test drive at a dealership. I guess the salesman was misinformed. It was maybe just the "chevy shake" then lol. He tried selling me on it saying it evened out as it sped up but i was convinced at the time it had the dreaded shake problem and that was why it had so many low miles
  16. I drove a , maybe 2015, Denali 2500 with the magnaride stuff and I disliked it. Does GM not offer a fancy shock system on the new trucks?
  17. Hah thanks! I like using my foot to control the accelerator pressure, less "software bugs"
  18. Update: 15,000 mi and issue never came up again. Maybe some sort of learning programming issue? It didnt even rough start when it was below zero and super windy.
  19. Interesting, what would be the benefit? I saw the ad 20% fuel savings but that doesn't make sense
  20. You made a good choice. 7,000lbs is a good breaking point for a HD truck and very much so past 28' on travel trailers. A 1500 is absolutely fine, especially if you do infrequent short trips. I started towing with a really old 1500 and once we realized we tow several times a year for really long distances, the HD was a no brainer. I dont think you will notice much power oomph, and the HD gas still has a 6 speed transmission which may feel like a downgrade if you came from an 8 in the 1500. While the efficiency is a downgrade, the 6 speed is an upgrade in durability. Go ahead and grease all the zerks now if you haven't done so yet!
  21. Ive been in some impressive downpours while parked and driving on highways. No leaks. Reading the comments I wonder why some are affected and some are not, Ive never heard of windows leaking on cars unless its an old sunroof.
  22. Old guys drive the best trucks! Looks sweet have fun with it
  23. $60,000 wow. How can they justify that much for even a handbuilt camper top?? It looks cool..... but wow. OP have you looked at custom built Mercedes overland vehicles or off road capable small campers? You will be invested 120,000sh and still have to deal with removing a bed and still have a camping ability thats marginally better then sleeping in your truck.
  24. This is probably better answered by whoever is manufacturing the truck camper. I havent seen a truck camper on a new truck outside or SEMA photos, what is your vision with this?
  25. Mine leaks so bad. Ive never had time to mess with warranty repairs. Bakflip said since I bought it as a GM installed option to contact my dealer. My dealer suggested I just add foam. ?? Its been fine, out of warranty now I think. I should have just bought the darn thing directly from the factory and installed it myself. Oh well. I just need to add some seals in the corners near the cab, thats where most the water comes in. My corners look nothing like the capped corners in the pics from this thread.
