Reverse spring spec
Bare Foot Garage posted a topic in 1988-1999 Chevrolet & GMC C/K GMT400 Platform
Have a 4l80e (first gen?) Transmission and it doesn't go in reverse. So took pan, gasket, filter etc out to get to the reverse servo assembly. Took that apart and checked the servo pin (seems pin I have is D/C so can't find replacement or specs) Also inspected pin and looks good. So wondering If it's the "bigger" spring in the reverse servo assembly but can't find specific, part number or name etc. Can anyone help please? I don't want to buy a whole "kit" if I just need one spring. Or the servo assembly isn't the issue... First spring. Not second. Ordered second by part # but not one I now know I need. Thanks for your help Nate -
Hello all, I have searched for ideas on this, and only found a few people who installed "mood lighting" inside the bumper step. I'm wondering how simple or effective it would be to get some real reverse flood lights inside the bumper step? I know you could fill the whole cavity with a tractor light and it would work, but I'd like to still be able to use the step if I need it. So has anyone installed an LED flush mount or similar light that actually throws enough light behind them to use for backing up/ doing work? How does it fit inside the curved surface of the step? The reason is I want the ability to have light behind me for plowing snow. I already replaced the factory reverse and cargo bulbs with LEDs, I think they work fairly nice, but they throw really straight back like a spotlight. I'm hoping to have a little wider path lit up. I don't want to cut the bumper or have lights hanging down below the bumper, but I know those would be alternative options. I know there have been a lot of creative people adding auxiliary lights to their trucks, so I'm hoping someone can show how you were able to do this.

I just bought my 2020 Denali and when I was parking it last night I noticed the lights on the mirrors didn't come on when I put it in reverse. The manual doesn't help much. I looked at some other forums and diodes get brought up a lot on the older models. I am hoping it's just a settings issue that I am overlooking. Any input would be appreciated.

I have 2 led light bars under my rear bumper that I use to reverse at night that are currently wired to a switch in the cab. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to have them wired into my reverse lights and also the switch so that they will come on when I put the truck in reverse but I could also control them manually.

Got a 1993 G20 Chevy Sports Van. She's a 5.7 V8 704r. So this was part of the seller's inheritance. She sat for almost one year and prior to owners death, had no Transmission issues. She drives in Neutral and has 0 ZERO Reverse. Like no bucking or any other sensation when it's in reverse. Her trans fluid was dark. I had all fluids changed today and asked the mechanic what he found in the transmission pan. He said there were a few shavings and the fluid was dark but that was it. He told me he was no Transmission guy but really felt like I did not have a transmission problem. The car acts like it has no reverse at all. I was told by a transmission guy to Rev it up a bit after warming it up. If the front clutch in the transmission is stuck together, I should feel it buck like it wants to go into reverse but it can't. I GOT nothing in reverse period. It drives in Neutral which the mechanics that did the fluid changes said they have never seen. Sooooo...do I have a transmission problem, a shift solenoid problem, some sort of cable that's come undone....detent, TV ? My fear is that this is something less expensive than a transmission rebuild and I don't know enough to know what it is ? What do you guys think ? For the record....after all the fluids were changed, it drove like a million bucks !

Hello again, everyone. Back here with another update of yet another unlock that has been discovered for the HMI - Rear Camera in Motion! This one has been pretty sought after and I'm very excited to be able to offer it to the community here. This unlock can be performed on any 2014 - 2018 GM truck that has a rear camera installed. It requires the use of an additional harness which I provide. This unlock places a "Camera" application on the screen of the HMI which allows the user to view the rear camera for 25 seconds while the vehicle is driving. This is perfect for checking on your trailer connections while on the road or just viewing any obstacles behind you. Please see the video demo below and feel free to send me a PM if you're interested in adding this to your vehicle. Thanks for looking.

Just replaced e driver side engine mount. After the install, my idle/park started rough idling specially it has more vibration and noise during Reverse. Any idea what could cause this?

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra Single Cab 4.3L V6. Pulled into the parking lot at work this morning with no issues. Went to back into a parking spot and when I shifted into reverse, EVERYTHING in the cab shut off for about 3 seconds. When it came back on I had an airbag alarm and a stabilitrak alarm. I backed into the spot without issue. As far as I could tell the drive-train was fine. I have the convenience package which is basically the backup camera, Bluetooth, and On-Star. Anyone else come across this issue or anything similar?

I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Z71 with 8000 miles. No modifications. Great truck, almost no issues but... I have owned this truck for 7 months now, and for the second time in the last couple months, it has left me stranded for around an hour each time. When i start the truck i receive the "Power steering reduced, drive with care" message. But unlike others i have read about, i can not turn the steering wheel with all of my strength. Also the truck will drive forward in this state, but not reverse, nor will the back up camera come on. And the AC and blower wont turn on unless i spin the dial a few times. Each time i have opened the hood and pulled out and plugged back in all the (really hot!) fuses and after about an hour the issue goes away and i can drive again. Why would the fuses be so hot just sitting in the parking lot, maybe they always are. who knows. I took it to the dealership and they are trying to recreate this issue, but since its only happened twice in 7 months that's not likely. So they told me next time this happens to have it towed. How inconvenient is that though! Cant they run diagnostics or troubleshoot with the many symptoms the truck has in this error state? I was hoping someone here has an idea i can tell this dealership to try since they don't have ideas of their own. Thanks!

who has replaced their back up lights with led's? and what ones did you go with? and did you have issues with them being too bright and washing out the back up camera? thanks in advance!

For those not aware, GM dropped the 3157 sized bulbs in favor of 921's for reverse lights on the 2014's. So my question: which vendors really have the best/brightest LEDs out there??? My DDM's were dimmer than the stick bulbs. I've heard great things about V-LED's Triton LEDs but they don't make a 921.

Hello, I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500LT 5.3L V8 Midnight Edition. Can someone explain to me the proper usage of 4WD? I haven't had to turn it on until today when the snow was bad. The problems I experienced were that the truck would basically not work in reverse with 4WDHI engaged. When I was backing out of my driveway with 4WDHI engaged, I would press on the accelerator and it would move somewhat, though really slowly and it didn't seem correct. This was the first time I had really used 4x4 on this truck so I didn't think anything of it. Well after driving an hour to work with 4x4HI engaged, through backroads and highway, I had to back into my parking spot and it wouldn't do it. I pulled up and put it in reverse and cut the wheel and it didn't really go anywhere proportionate to the amount of gas I was giving it. So I switched it to 2WD and it worked like a charm. I doubt something is wrong with the truck so I'm hoping someone can explain to me how this is to be properly used and what the desired functionality is. If it's not good to shift the drive in motion, I'm expected to change it to 2WD whenever I want to reverse? What if the lot wasn't plowed and snow was so thick I really needed the 4WD to reverse? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I have an 05 tahoe lt 4x4. i have had a problem with something binding when i reverse. I have had two different transmission rebuilds since i have owned it. problem has and still exists. If whatever it is starts to bind. i will puty it back in drive and go forward, then back up. it then usually backs up 5' and then starts to bind again. after driving it for a bit if i stop and then go into reverse usually it wont bind and reverses smoothly. however it has been almost stalling ( deiseling) and sometimes actually stalling while reversing. then it goes back to regular idle when back in drive. I have heard that it most likely has something to do with rear brakes which are disc. please advise. Hello everyone. I am new to this site and have already seen a ton of great info being shared here. This is a great tool to have. I have a 2008 Silverado LT. I recently purchased an aftermarket wireless reverse camera. The truck did not have one from the factory. Tapping in to the reverse lights at the rear for the camera is pretty easy, but what is the best place for screen power? I have seen a few threads, and am curious if anyone has tried the wire for reverse lights out of the BCM? What about a fuse tap somewhere? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. THX!
