  6. Think about it like this. The underbody is all kinda chopped up with tons of stuff to present drag, or resistance to the flow of air. Any air that gets under there will try to slow down the truck. If you can divert this up or over, then the top and/or sides of the truck are waaaaay more slippery and will, therefore, reduce drag. This is why sports car designers want the body as low as possible and the underbelly to be as smooth as possible.

  8. My question to those concerned about your warranty...if you modify/tune your truck and something breaks as a consequence, do you really expect to get a free ride via warranty? If not and you can't pay out of pocket to fix it, then I think the answer to your concern is self evident.

  9. Thanks for the update Chappy, I've been waiting to hear your results of the ring and pinion swap. That makes total sense. Hopefully this fixes your issue, and then all of the rest can get it done as well. I'm betting the new gear make a big difference!

  10. I took the dam thing off the 08 sometime before the first hunting trip in it. I've left the dam thing on this 2014 for now. I have no off-road trips planned until the hunting season anyway. Maybe I'll take the dam thing off for the hunting season and put it back on for the rest of the year. Or maybe I'll do nothing and see how long the dam thing stays on when off-roading.

  12. Yeah we almost need to meet up and drive each others' trucks to feel the differences, then when we find solutions we can better explain what to do for people. I'd love for someone who fixed their vibration with tires to drive my truck and tell me if what they feel is the same as on their truck before the new tires.

  13. I agree... but all manufacturers have pressure to get the highest MPG... by both the customer and government. GM loves to advertise that their truck get's 1 mpg better than ford. Personally I could care less.. but I think many people do. Unfortunately better aero (like air dams dragging the ground) and weight reduction is the easiest way to increase MPG.

  14. MJ , this verbiage explains EXACTLY what i have occuring as well ....there is a harmonic component and I can sense a low woom, woom, woom thats much slower cycled than tire rotation. My gut says these tires heat up, lose their shape, and start a wobble that begins a harmonic vibration that you're feeling on top of the tire wobble All was good even after the 8" fabtech lift and 35" tires were installed. It wasn't until about 800 miles AFTER putting on my lift and 35" dick cepeks (only had 3K on the truck itself). that this starting occuring, so i think this was going to occur with/without the lift/tires. 4 trips to the service dealer and their accessories dept (who installed, lift, balance etc..) came down to that is "normal" road vibration throughout the cv joints, differential and front drive shaft as when they removed the CV joints, the noise disappears. So i guess thats good news for 2WD fans as they should not have this issue. Either way, i am getting less aggressive tires as the floor vibration and "woom, woom" that occurs is a little ridiculous (starts at 45, continues to get more noticeable, longer harmonic rotation etc... faster you go). I had 36" x14.50 tires 9" of lift on my last 2004 Silverado and never had this problem. I think it really comes down to these 2014 drivetrains/frame specs etc.. are so dam tight/within specs etc that this is going to occur more often then not and does have a lot to do with tires, but again this did not occur on previous trucks. Well previous trucks were also not this dam quiet. So it is what it is. Just thought i would chime in since your the first to describe what only a few people can describe.

  15. I'm going back to tires as well. But I'm sort of done with guessing and troubleshooting this truck. Mine was a lot better after rebalance the tires and drive shaft but it's come back at this point...so points to tires maybe? See,s like after I get going, for 10 miles or so at HW speed the tires start hopping or jiggling but then again it could be anything at this point. Calling the dealer again and going in for the 4th time. This time I'm going to have an honest talk ans tell them I'm done, either the truck gets fixed or I dont want it back...time for GM to figure this out. It's not fair for a customer to be put through this.

  17. So I don't like the factory steps at all on my 2014, they're clunky, stick out too far and to me they ruin the looks. I'm 6'1" and don't need them but my shorter wife does. On my 2011 extended cab I had installed a set of OEM Tahoe running boards and it looked so clean, they mounted flush and there wasn't a gap and it all flowed together with the lines of the truck if that makes sense. As I found out, the rocker panels for the Suburban and crew cab had all the mounting holes in the same place as did the Tahoe and extended cab. They bolted up perfectly once I got the hardware. I'm gonna ditch the ones on it now and try to find a set off a 2015 Suburban. No luck finding a set yet but a set will probably turn up sooner or later. Now I'm wondering if the factory running boards off the earlier generation Suburbans would bolt up. I wish a neighbor drove one so I could crawl underneath and take a look. They are not hard to find.
