  1. No need to remove the BCM. Typically, a device is connected to the truck's OBD-II port that has canned tunes in it and the capability to capture or "data log" certain parameters from the truck. The data log file is sent via email to a programmer who determines the proper settings for your type of driving with your truck and sends back a custom tune that you load into the truck via the tuner device. They can change running parameters such as turning off Torque Management, AFM, etc. or change shift points. Here is the link to Diablosport which explains this. Blackbear has a similar process. https://www.diablosport.com/products/intune.html
  2. Yes, the answer is...it depends...I had my Silvy into dealer yesterday to have the HVAC calibration performed and asked about this. He said it depends on the connection to the mod for whatever fails. He knows I like to "change" things and has been very supportive in the past. But GM is requiring more information now on warranty claims. As an example, he said if I had lifted my truck and then complained about a broken spring, then it possibly would not be covered since I had modified that particular part of the suspension (in this example). He also said that if, during my calibration update, they noticed that my software had been modified more than their records show, my VIN would be flagged. But this does not necessarily mean the total warranty would be voided, but it does cause questions. In the event of a failure, they would See that my VIN was flagged and look to see if there was a possibility that the tune caused the issue. He also said GM started this policy because of Deisel engine owners who caused failures that they could directly attribute to the tune's parameters. I asked if I turned off AFM, how this would affect the warranty...he again said...it depends. And since all warranty claims have to be reviewed by GM, it could make it complicated. Not trying to cause controversy, just thought it was interesting conversation and wanted to pass it on... By the way, no mention of my Diablo tune during this calibration (returned to stock before taking it to them). And I didn't probe any further...
  3. As I mentioned before, there is a bed sealing kit available that really helps seal the front lower edge of the bed, stake pocket openings and tailgate using mouldings and foam blocks. I used the kit on my previous truck and now on my '14 Silvy. It really helps keep, out the dust and water. Also a good moulding ( or gasket) seal across the front bed rail helps seal the front corners. I don't have a front rail cap, but the moulding both fills the gap and seals nicely to the painted surface. I used this kit for the tailgate http://www.amazon.com/Extang-1140-MaxSeal-Tailgate-Seal/dp/B000CN5QG8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1440190843&sr=8-2&keywords=tailgate+seals+for+pickups And this one for the rest of the bed http://www.amazon.com/Access-Cover-TrailSeal-Tailgate-Pickups/dp/B003I676OQ/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1440190843&sr=8-14&keywords=tailgate+seals+for+pickups The total bed kit moulding for the tailgate doesn't stick well. I hope this helps.
  4. Had calibration update performed for PIT5240B: HVAC system and heated and/or cooled seats operation during remote vehicle start event. This PI changes heat and cool operation from only working as last set to operate the way previous models did based on ambient temperatures. This is outlined in detail in the Remote Start Settings thread...http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/168473-remote-start-settings/
  5. These might help,plug the remaining holes...http://www.bumperplugs.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=1_11_79&product_id=79
  6. Planning to leave it alone. This one looks to be better constructed than the stock one and haven't heard from anyone that this one causes issues. Notice the bypass loop? Essentially this one has a loop which keeps it partially open and fully open upon demand. I want to enable AFM just to see how it handles the transition, but I do like running with AFM disabled.

    My GM Borla Pics

Pictures of my GM Borla exhaust installation
  8. Sure thing...The GM Borla exhaust (dual tips, side exit) is a high quality kit which installed very easily by the muffler shop I went to. Installed in about 20 minutes once the Corsa was removed and everything lined up nicely. Normally, I would have installed it myself, but with temps over 100 degrees here I decided to watch this time. It is much quieter than the Corsa Sport, but that is what I was expecting based on the review by "REV" and I understand it is a "Touring" sound vs. the "Sport" of the Corsa. While the cold start is throaty, it is not overbearing and with normal driving, it is almost as quiet as stock. However, when I punched it while passing a car on a two lane road (yes, the center line was dotted where I passed), it was very clear that I'm driving a V8! Yesterday, I took my truck out on the toll road at 80+ mph and there was a tone, but not very loud and I could easily maintain a conversation. Absolutely NO DRONE. I do have AFM turned off. I plan to turn it back on just to see what it is like, but have not done that yet. I took several pictures, so I'll load them up in My Gallery for you. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/gallery/album/3494-my-gm-borla-pics/ Here's the part numbers. I found it at Banner Automotive via Amazon.com. 1 of Genuine Gm 2014 Silverado Borla Cat Back Exhuast Tips 19303347 Bright Chrome 1 of Genuine Gm 2014 Silverado Dual Side Exit Cat Back Exhuast 19303337
  9. Changed the oil to Mobil 1, inspection, Registration and my GM Borla cat-back arrived. Couldn't wait another day, so off to the muffler shop and had them change from Corsa to GM Borla. Wow, what a difference. Much more tame and really what I was looking for in my truck performance truck. Guess I'll leave to drive the '04 GTO when I want LOUD!
  10. OK Gents, I really liked my Corsa cat-back exhaust, but had to move on. The quality, fit, finish and initial sound was very impressive and no drone at all (I turned off AFM too)...BUT...after driving it for a few months, i realized it was just too loud for me on the highway. Most of my driving was on local roads with speeds up to 60 and occasionally on one of our toll roads where the speed limit is 80 mph. And that's where the issue is...when driving speeds above ~65, it's just too loud. No drone, just loud. Below ~65, you can't hardly hear it. Went on a day trip and realized how loud it was. Taking a longer road trip with the Corsa would not be fun at all. So, I ordered a GM Borla and had it installed today. Normally I would do it myself, but with temps over 100 degrees, I decided to pay a muffler shop. If you want a great buy on the Corsa, PM me or pop on over to the For Sale section to see the listing...Yes, REV, I should-a listened to ya'!
  11. What happened to your pictures?
  12. Range has both AFM Disabler and AFM Plus devices... http://www.rangetechnology.com
  13. Thanks! I'll have to check it out. I am NOT considering the K&N this time due to the open filter design. I ordered the new Banks sealed box unit and just received the Airaid MIT since it uses the stock air box (I already have a AEM Dryflow filter).
  14. I have an early build (8/13) Silverado LTZ DC. Did the same thing in Sept. '14. Dealer checked and ordered a replacement radio and performed the software update. According to paperwork, they performed PI1288a for fm reception. Dealer told me the update had to be checked against VIN and module in truck to tell whether only software or both hardware & software needed updating. My reception is MUCH better, although I still wish I could "turn off" the radio to the clock "home" screen and it would stay consistently there like a normal radio. Mine changes each time I start the truck to either the radio screen or " home" screen at will, always in mute of course. Rented many cars, SUVs and even a Buick. All turned off, except the Tahoe which acted the same...just strange. If you look far enough back in this thread, you'll see that TJay worked with the engineers to get this released. You'll also see there were mixed results. Not sure why this is and I think this is why they are still working on it. TJay keeps informed and said he is expecting another update from the GM engineers in late summer or early fall. I do agree that service provided really depends upon the dealer. Mine treats me very well.
  15. Removed Volant CAI and reinstalled OEM air box with AE Dryflow synthetic air filter. Was not happy with the Volant's overall quality and fitment (air box lid didn't fit right, clamps kept getting loose, kit was missing a clamp and the filter clamp was stripped). It also rattled against the inside of the fender and made a strange noise just before the truck downshifted (kind of like a growl with a rattle) despite everything being tight. I've had several K&N CAIs and a Banks CAI and never had this much wierd noise. Sending the unit back. I may try the new Banks or keep it stock.
  16. I've never had them get that close to the mud flaps or not be parallel to the body/door panel. The sales pic shows normal install spacing. I'd contact AutoAnything right away. Something is definitely wrong.
