  1. Wound up passing on the GMF rebate because we got a 3.99 rate from the credit union... Didn't want to deal with refinancing later and or taking my chances on the rates going up...
  2. I appreciate it! Not trying to put you down!
  3. There is no way on gods green earth that you won't be able to adjust your setup to pull that trailer without being bottomed out... Looks like the trailer is nose down in that pic... Maybe less drop in your hitch would help and like others said get a WD setup... with a properly balanced trailer you should be able to seriously exceed your recommended trailer weight rating without bottoming out your suspension travel...
  4. You're right that used rates are higher but, only by about 1-2 tenths of a point in my area...
  5. Good info, thanks to all for sharing! We're buying a 2018 Equinox Premier this week for my wife and I will be taking the GMF rebate and refinancing with a local credit union in pretty short order.. A side note, because it was a courtesy transporter We're buying a $39k MSRP Equinox for $25,600 with 4500 miles on the ODO.
  6. I'm not sure what is amiss but, I've had 12k (I know it was stupid) behind my 1500 and it wasn't on the bump stops and I don't have max tow... I was towing a tandem axle equipment trailer with a skid steer on the trailer... I'd get a WD hitch etc, it's not worth driving a 2500 hd around town all the time for the few times you need to trailer..
  7. Thanks for the info... I am not sure what I'll do...
  8. I actually got a quote to have them line-x coated, I think around $350... If you don't mind: how much $$ to have 'em powder coated/
  9. Good to know. I was fooled by the ebay listings.. Unfortunately after about 65k miles my OEM boards were corroded really badly on the surface so I sanded them down and they look like more of a brushed aluminum now... I may paint 'em black once the weather gets better...
  10. Aren't they the same as the factory ones GM puts on the trucks?
  11. Probably won't work.. There are only 3 mounting brackets on a double cab if I recall correctly... You can get running boards on ebay for $130 that look just like OEM, your buddy should just save up some $$...
  12. Not quite high mileage yet but, I drive a lot of miles in a year... 2016 with about 3 years 4 months in service and I'm at just over 65k miles... I will see how the trade in value is looking in about a year and I may swap it for a 2019 or 2020 model..
  13. Yes I knew that about the G80 rear end... The auto mode is really only intended for mixed road conditions, IE partially snow covered roads and getting in and out of slushy parking lots or messy gravel roads. If you leave the truck in auto for a few days accidentally I'm sure you'll be just fine but, there is not really any reason to use auto unless you're off road or the road conditions are poor..
  14. There is no good reason to do it... It will cause additional wear on the four wheel drive system.. Are you new to 4x4 trucks? If you have a locking rear end and you're not off road, there will be very few situations outside of snow that you use anything but 2 high... I will use AUTO if I am trying to get a jump on traffic off the line sometimes because the truck is quicker off the line with it but, beyond that unless there is significant snow on the road there aren't many reasons I can think of that any 4 wheel drive mode is needed if you're on paved roads..
  15. Well this sucks... One of those features you don't realize how much you love until you have it... Fell arse backwards into the feature on my 2016 and I love it... I have the arms of a 5'5" guy but, the legs of a 6'2" guy and a short torso so I am only 5'11" and I really appreciate the pedals.. I have the pedals pushed all the way away from me and the steering wheel pulled about 3/4 of the way out towards me... UGH maybe there is more adjustment in the steering wheel now? Can't bring my self to buy a Fiat but, if Ford offers said option I may have to look at an F150 in 2-3 years when it's time to trade in my 2016... As someone who drives 25-30k miles a year (I'm an Outside Sales Rep) comfort features become a big deal...
  16. Kinda odd that the did away with that for 2019.. On my 2016 only some of my glasses fit in there so I wind up with one of those clips on the sun visor...
  17. If you search there is a thread where someone did this on a 2012 or so truck, I don't think it was all that tough.. The bumper is a nice feature if you're in and out of the bed a lot but, I do miss the cleaner look a bit on the GMT900 trucks..
  18. https://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-47297-INSIGHT-Brake-Control/dp/B00C5THYIK/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1546989492&sr=8-8&keywords=trailer+brake+controller I use one of these... I mounted the slider where the OEM controller would be... much cheaper and easier than trying to add the OEM controller.
  19. It was odd at first in my wife's Malibu but, it doesn't bother me now.... I'd not risk voiding my warranty by adding an aftermarket device just to disable the start stop... W/ that said, I think the feature is silly especially on a fullsize truck... It's a fullsize truck, it's not supposed to get supreme fuel mileage, you can thank our bumbling government and CAFE standards for being the driver behind the change..
  20. I may have chimed in before but, I put about 32k miles on a 2014 Sierra SLE with a 4.3 and traded it in for a 2016 Silverado with a 5.3, I was not a fan of the 4.3, I mean it did the job but, it was under powered for the double cab 4x4 truck... Both trucks have 3.42 rear ends...
  21. I agree, we have a 1.5 Turbo in our Malibu and it misses the mark by a couple MPG if you get into the boost much... It sure beats the old 2.5L N/A for performance...
  22. I think that the 2.7 I4 is a dang joke.. If it got 30MPG Hwy OK maybe it'd be worth considering but. with a 2 mpg difference vs the V8 ? Same argument I have against the old 4.3, for the minor increase in MPG it's not worth giving up the power... Plus I'd be embarrassed to own a 4cyl full size pickup, at least the 6cyl models are respectable but, a 4 banger in a big ole truck like that just seems funny...
  23. I don't see it happening with a 1500 as others said find your slide in camper weight rating, payload is not a correct gauge of the camper capability... Unless you're really limited on space I would just get a small camper to tow behind your truck...
  24. EXACTLY... I wonder why anyone would put $$ down on a lease, it's not really a down payment, it's a prepayment... There are some really lousy leases out there, you have to be really careful / up on the market to not get taken for a ride, it's not as straight forward as buying a new car that's for sure.
  25. Wow such great insight lol... Very deep and detailed advice I'll change my ways immediately based on your personal edict....
