  1. I have been pretty pleased with it, got it on Ebay, I think it's got 40k miles on it and not much worse for the wear, certainly no worse than any of the other plastic chrome like pieces on the truck... Sorry can't find it on my amazon history I bought it a few years ago and finally installed.
  2. I put 'em on Friday night but, finally finished cleaning the truck up this morning.. My Silverado is now ready for all formal occasions with black bow ties... I used these aluminum powder coated ones from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075MX1N8T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Easier than removing the entire emblem... I also put a black carbon fiber sticker over the gold emblem on the steering wheel... Now I need to decide if I want to black out the bow ties on the rims... Truck still looks pretty good for 3-1/2 years and 70k miles... Next plans are: Remove and paint running boards matte black. Truxedo Sentry Tonneau cover, just not happy with the tonnopro hard fold fit and finish...
  3. Unfortunately some option packages come with the spray in liner so that's not a choice for everyone.. W/ that said my truck is going on 4 years old and 70k miles, I am not easy on my truck and I have had no issues...
  4. It's not really fair for Grumpy Bear to give much credit to the fact that he has a 4.3L in his truck... He could drop a 5.3 in there and get 1-2mpg different... Credit is to him for the mods and driving style for the MPG's he gets... I had a 4.3 for a couple of years, I got 1 mpg different vs the 5.3 I have now... I drive 65-75 mph, there are lots of hills here and so on... I can't hardly get 27 mpg out of my 2018 Equinox 2.0T AWD life time... We don't have the luxury of driving that slow around here if we need to get on the highway you'll get run over and most of our highways here around the major cities... I used to brag about the MPG I got with my V6 when I had one so I understand the urge but, there are so many factors that go into fuel economy and quite frankly I find it funny, just like I do when people brag about how fast their Honda Civic's are.... Trucks are made for haulin' stuff and the odd obsession American consumers, government officials and manufacturers have with MPG in trucks is just making them a worse and worse product for what is it made for.... I guess it's nice that GM is offering options for different tastes but, I don't quite get the general though process. I mean sure if we could get 30 MPG EPA ratings out of a truck that'd be great but, I get 18-20 MPG in mine regardless of city or hwy and looking back at trucks from the 90's I think that they were getting 16-18 MPG... Not a big improvement for the trade off IMO.
  5. I am surprised how the Sierra is growing on me... Looks like equally good deals on either the Chevy or GMC so maybe in a couple of years when the time comes I'll go back to a GMC... Probably an SLT Crew Cab 5.3...
  6. The final drive on the 8/10 speed with the 3.23 is about the same as the 6 speed with a 3.42 I believe... 3.42 with the 8 speed is now the 'max tow' setup..
  7. On the K2 trucks you can unbolt the bed with 8 bolts, might just need to loosen the bolts and slide the bed over? If nothing else they could elongate the mounting holes in the bed to allow adjustment... Not a factory suggested adjustment but, gotta live in the real world...
  8. Looks good, fits the trim level well, wouldn't make sense on a High Country but, the Trailboss is kinda in your face so it goes well with that...
  9. I think the most I've had in my 1500 was about 2200, I noticed it was back there, steering was light but, no trouble starting or stopping... With one of those air lift helper kits you'd really not notice the difference... I usually just borrow a trailer now when the weights exceed 2k # unless the distance is extremely short...
  10. LOL you should be more secure in your choices... You gotta know that a 4 banger ain't gonna get much love in a truck forum.... It's conversation on a forum, no disrespect it's just a motor in an truck man...
  11. Yeah, you can't get away with stuff like that these days.. Unless it blows while it's sitting in your driveway idling while you're inside getting ready to leave...
  12. To each their own man, you'll not see a 4 cyl full size truck in my garage... 4 cyl turbo's are 4 cyl turbo's some do a better job of hiding it but, even with a lot of lipstick a pig is still a pig... Full size trucks ought to be powered by V8 motors in my book but, hey you voted with your dollars and rolled the dice on the experimental power plant.. I hope you continue to be happy with it... FWIW I owned a '17 Colorado with a 3.6 and that thing scooted...
  13. Yeah I liked the bigger I4's instead of the smaller turbo ones... We had a 2014 Mazda 6 with a 2.5L I4 and that thing got after it with a 6 speed auto it was fun to drive... The 1.5L Turbo Malibu that took it's place in our garage had very similar HP numbers but, the turbo lag made it kind of a dog... Although it was a really nice car compared to the Mazda 6...
  14. I own a 2.0T Equinox and had a 1.5T Malibu and I've driven quite a few other boosted cars & trucks.. The only way to avoid that lag is to run twin turbo's like Ford does on the 3.5 Ego Boost... I'm sure it's not as noticeable on flat land or unloaded but, throw 1500# in the bed or 9k # on a trailer behind it and you're going to notice the singular turbo lag... I'm not saying it's a total POS it's just kinda like a boys toy vs. a mans tool... If your just playing around with your truck the 4 banger may do the trick but, if you need a legit tool, it won't be up for the job... They are perfectly sufficient in cars and lots of crossovers but, I think that they will be a short lived MPG gimmick in full size trucks and you'll see a V6 take it's place... The 3.6 V6 would probably get just about the same MPG without all the inherent short comings of an I4 in a truck that seems to get bigger with each generation...
  15. Yeah i'm not trying to trash people for buying 4 cyl's I guess I'm just saying if I could I'd have a V6 or V8 in everything I own and no Turbo's... I don't like the lag and I appreciate the smooth power delivery of a larger motor... Unfortunately 4 cyl's with turbos are in style now... I would have liked to get an Acadia instead of the Equinox we just bought so I could have had a 3.6L V6 but, that wasn't in the budget this time around... I'm surprised how much I like my wife's 2018 Equinox Premier but, I still think my '16 SIlverado is the most comfortable vehicle I've owned...
  16. I've had honda's, mazda's ford's and now a 2.0T chevy in my wifes equinox and don't get me wrong they sound okay in a car but, just weird in a big ole truck.. I'd still prefer a 3.6L V6 in the Equinox like the last gen had but, the 2.0T gets the job done once the brief lag has passed... Not a deep menacing growl like a V6 or V8 though... Certainly not something to highlight IMO...
  17. I disagree, the 3.6 is a great motor... I see no major advantages to these tiny motors to justify their massive downsides... If anything the 3.6 would be more more appropriate in the T1 trucks than the 4 cyl #1 Turbo lag #2 Turbo lag #3 Turbo lag... #4 Long term reliability #5 Sounds like you're driving a Honda Accord... #6 If you're worried about fuel economy Gm makes some great crossovers and cars, the drive to squeeze an MPG or two out of these trucks is taking away from the overall driving experience, increasing the likely hood of issues and driving up the cost of trucks... I'd rather pay less for the truck and buy a few more gallons of fuel a year than deal with all this AFM, DFM, Missing Cylinders replaced by turbo's and 10 gear transmission crap.. Caveat, I'm pretty old school....
  18. I've been carrying the M2.0 4" compact 9mm daily all year, I don't think there are any bugs to work out, it's almost identical to the M1.0 that's been pretty much bullet proof... I also have an M&P 1.0 4.25" , Shield 9mm, M&P 2.0 45 acp 4.5", M&P .22 compact, Bodyguard 380 acp and an old M36 .38 spl J-frame, I guess you could say I am a fan of S&W handguns!
  19. Nooo he needs to get the board stretcher out! I Keep mine by the router mufflers!
  20. In my '16 5.3 3.42 I get 16-19 city and 22-24 hwy depending on speed and how flat the roads are... I've never noticed my AFM working but, I've not driven a T1 with DFM yet....
  21. To each their own man... .. I really dislike 4 bangers but, I grew up driving bigger cars, my Dad had Crown Vic's with V8's and that is what I learned to drive in... I'm 34 and I do not embrace technology as much as many people my age and what many see as progress I see as useless... I appreciate the new safety tech but, I question if all the speeds in these transmissions and fast spinning turbo charged small motors are worth the cost were paying to achieve the MPG standards....
  22. If gas was pushing $7.00 a gallon I would be more sensitive to MPG's too. I didn't realize it had gotten that expensive in Canada... I still say there is no replacement for the smoothness and power of a big V8.. Sure the smaller V6's can get the job done but, I am not looking for get the job done, I'm looking for an excess of power... When I had the 2014 with a 4.3 it struggled to merge on uphill on ramps empty, sure it got the job done but, It was not confidence inspiring.. That's just my personal preference I like big V8's and I always try to get the upgrade motor, I've always been let down when I haven't... When I had my Sierra I was disappointed but, satisfied with the 5.3 when I got the Silverado, with the 2016 Malibu I leased for my wife I wasn't really happy with the 1.5T, I'm much happier with the 2.0T in the Equinox I just bought... With gas around $2.50 - $3.00 a gal here if I get 22 vs 24 on the highway it's not going to make a difference to me at the end of the year but, it irritates me when I punch it and I feel like the truck isn't moving quick enough everyday... That's just me though, I've toyed around with a 6.2 on my next truck so you can see where my priorities are at.... To each their own and good on GM for offering options to suit a variety of preferences...
  23. I would not buy a full size truck that did not have a V8.. I don't care how many HP's they can squeeze out of it on a DYNO, there is no replacement for displacement... If I am driving a full size truck and worried about getting 22 vs 24 mpg HWY I can't afford the truck to begin with... I think that the 2.7 Turbo is all about meeting CAFE standards... The 4.3 V6 may make less ponies than the 2.7 but, at least it's only missing 2 cylinders... I just bought a 2.0T Equinox for my wife and yeah it's quick but, it's no V6 when it comes to smoothness... I just don't like the small 4cyl turbos I like bigger motors with less technology... Sure we're squeezing a mpg or two here and there but, look at what these vehicles cost because of our odd obsession with fuel mileage..
  24. Exactly, there are only two or three decent dealers in my area that are any good to deal with... Also regardless if I give a crap about a dealer I give a crap about my word, if I agree to wait 6 months I am going to wait 6 months because I honor my word and the agreements I make...
  25. That would be okay except that you have to hold the loan for 6 months or the dealer loses out on their credit for the loan, I bought from a honest local dealer who gave me a great deal I wouldn't go back on our agreement to keep the loan for 6 months... I'm not looking to pull a fast one on a dealer and ruin my reputation over a measly $1000.00..
