  1. Hey guys... ask your tech how many of this recall the dealership has completed. The reason I say this is that the technician that did mine revealed that he missed one of the final steps and it caused this problem. If they don't follow the tech bulletin verbatim it can cause this problem... good luck!
  2. I'd fab some brackets... either mount them to the frame above or run it as a long piece side to side... not sure you could just wedge them and have them stay with vibration, wind and bugs.
  3. Finally got around to loading my BB tune... one word... WOW! No more AFM, the shift points are smooth and no more searching, and the truck pulls thru 98mph to infinity and beyond! I've watched the mpg steadily improve over the last hundred miles from 13.4 to 13.8... If you have a 6.2L you have got to get yourself a tune!
  4. I take some more photos little later...
  5. No drilling. The mount clips into the existing groves int he console and is help in place with 3m tape. I haven't taped it in place yet because I am making adjustments but it hasn't fallen off so the clip seems to work. It is not as stable as a fixed mount and some may not like that. I have a Galaxy Tab 4 so not a small tablet and it will rock a little when driving with bumps and stuff. I doesn't come as a single unit, you have to piece it together on the website. there are two swivels in the build I have so you get a lot of adjustment and tilt. The tablet mount can be rotated for portrait or landscape mode. My build list: Vertical Extension Plate 213065 Angled Extension Plate (Thick) 215413 Tilt Swivel Mount with AMPS Face Plate (Standard) 215453 ProClip Console Mount 834962 Holder with Tilt Swivel Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 511632 The mount is the only thing specific for my tablet which measures 9.5" X 7" and allows rotation without binding. Total cost was about $130 (with discount) shipped.
  6. Add a Proclip console mount for my tablet...
  7. I did this today... ARE Z series. I have been wanting to do the Pop & Lock for the tailgate and now the install has made my job 99% easier since the installer had to run wiring for the ARE lock. So next mod is the tailgate lock.
  8. Pop N Lock won't honor warranty for kits sold at retailers like Amazon. From the Pop N Lock website... Please note that Pop & Lock™ Products purchased on auction sites such as Ebay, Amazon and Craig's List, etc. will not be covered under factory warranty under any circumstances. Pop & Lock™ LLC (and Pop & Lock™ Corporation) is unable to verify whether products sold through auction sites are new, used, or refurbished, therefore, Pop & Lock LLC (and Pop & Lock™ Corporation) is unable to warranty such purchases. Pop & Lock LLC advises using extreme caution when purchasing our locks through auction sites as you'll be doing so at your own risk. If you aren't concerned with the warranty issue then I think that is about the lowest price I have seen.
  9. Installed my AMP Research HD Max Bed X-Tender. Took about an hour, very simple. Would have been done faster but this damn Florida heat!
  10. What camera are you using for your dash cam block8head? I agree that the guy in the Grand Am was not paying attention but your dash cam shows how they don't have the cross street lights properly masked. On a nasty rainy or snowy night a lesser being could make a fatal mistake!
  11. Nice to know... the Escort website hasn't been updated yet. Not that it really makes a difference for me, I have seen the Max and like the 9500ix better... preference thing.
  12. trying to figure out how/where to mount a tablet mount... anyone have diagrams of the center console? I would hate to drill into something that doesn't need to be drilled.
  13. I think they come auto configured... mine has the same label. Will be working through the instructions this week now that my CAI is installed.
  14. Just finished installing my RX catch can... easy install. Now to watch the race... I'm about 20 minutes from the speedway and got thunder and light rain... might be headed for another delay...
  15. Keep in mind that if you try to pull voltage from your mirror for an "add on" dash cam or other USB attached device that the car voltage is 12vdc... you will need some kind of inverter like the one above to get the USB 5vdc. Depending on what device you are connecting you may need a higher amp input... I know that some of the tablets like my Samsung Note Pro 12.2 require higher amperage than cheap chargers will provide so to be safe go with an inverter that at least one of the outputs is 3amp rated.
  16. I didn't use the Blendmount direct wire because I added the Escort Live cord. I have used the direct wire cords before and they are very easy to install... you just have to find a pos + and neg - source. There is another post somewhere on here that says which wires will work. I would check it with a multi meter to be sure. Mine is direct wired to the fuse box. It was very east to install, the front windshield area of the headliner is almost like a shelf and you tuck the cord in there. The A pillar trim is easy to take off and then I back wired the X3 plug on the fuse box... the purple/white wire gives you power with the ignition turned on. Comparing radar detectors...the Escort Solo S3 (cordless) versus the Escort 9500ix? I guess it depends on what you are looking for... the S3 is battery powered by AA batteries. Convenient for a clean installation and for travelers who want to take protection with them. It lacks laser protection! but people could argue that by the time a detector gives you a laser warning you are already tagged. I like the idea that I may stand a chance if he is lasing another car or if he's had to much coffee and donuts and can't keep the spot on me. The 9500ix is hands down the best detector I have ever owned, I actually have two of them... one in my Denali and one in my TBSS. The one in my Chevy is hardwired in with the Smartcord, I'm considering getting a mirror mount but right now I just windshield mount it. The one in my Denali has the Escort Live Cord. The 9500ix is a GPS based Radar/Lidar detector that you can download/upload user submitted speed traps, cams and known/false radar locations to/from your detector. When you add the Escort Live cord you join a community of users via your smart phone for a map/location based alert system. I have found it to be helpful in making me aware of potential traps/ambushes before I drive and during my drive. Escort has a a newer Passport Max detector that is very good. If you were a 9500ix guy there is a high chance you won't like the Max, not necessarily because of performance but more of a preference thing. The Max is also Escort Live capable but they don't currently make a Blendmount for the Max. As far as powering a dash cam... the blend mount harness has an RJ-11 (telephone connector) on it for the Escort/Bel series radar detectors that you push the pins/wires into the back of your mirror plug. There is normally enough room to do this without damaging the car's plug or overloading the circuit. I would caution that pushing two sets of wires into a single source would be risky. I saw another post where the guy got the necessary voltage out of the overhead console for his GoPro camera. I bought a USB power/inverter off Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GQ48FCY/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1) that I plan to wire directly to the fuse box. Since the headliner is so open on the front edge I figure that I can run a USB cable up there as well. I thought about adding the ports to the over head console but I think the level of work may be moderate to get it all put together and this approach is just as clean... I had exposed wires.
  17. I haven't really noticed it... but now that you've said something I'm sure it will bother me... Seriously, it really isn't that much more than the regular trim and it really is a more firm feel than grabbing the steering wheel to get in the truck.
  18. Had one right after they did the transfer case recall. It came on after getting above 35 mph and would not reset. They reflashed the recall software and haven't seen it since. Maybe the recall will fix your problem?
  19. I am looking for a professional retrofitter to install this for me... tried to contact the guy in Lakeland but no response. Anyone know anything about the guys in Dallas, it looks like I may be moving there next month for work.
  20. It's $4.99 monthly or $49.99 a year to subscribe.. not all that bad. Check out youtube there are a few promos and vids on there...
  21. I don't see other users but I see that alerts they have noted... in the last hour there have been nearly 50 reports ranging form actual police spotted/reported to radar encountered and even traffic cams placed. My area is Daytona Beach to Orlando. It seems to be pretty live and updating regularly and it does it automatically for radar/lidar detection. The Live cord is $99 with 12 months of service included.
  22. Airaid CAI and installed my Escort Blendmount (rear view mirror) and hardwired my Escort Live Cord. the Escort Live adds an app on your Smartphone that hooks you to toher users and now your alerts come across on your phone as well. Very cool! If anyone is interested send me a PM and I could probably take a video of how it works.
  23. Installed the Airaid CAI today. It only took about an hour from hood open to washing hands. I needed to be fast to beat the Florida heat and thunderstorms. My initial impressions... very nice. I sense that the vehicle is more responsive, the Borla exhaust even sounds louder. I am sure some of this is a placebo and some of it is from resetting the computer, but some of it really is the CAI! The truck is more "pouty" almost angry now unless I keep my foot in it... not going to be good for gas mileage or my wallet if my radar detector fails to alert me to our local peace officers. Will be working on my BB tune to dial this thing in but so far I am beyond satisfied with the results.
