  1. There seems to be quite a bit of side to side movement in that clip. Look in the upper right hand of the clip, that is a lot of bouncing happening on the under of the cab?
  2. KLRV6, I brought this up before but not a lot of responses. I have a lot of Steering wheel shimmy and just crap ride from the front. Have you heard of spring oscillation? Was wondering if the shocks just don't have enough dampening design that allows the front coil springs to start to resonate... Would be neat to see that video? These trucks transmit vibration, was never as evident as feeling a rear vibration only to find the left front out of balance. The electronic power steering software allows for a certain amount of out of balance but it has to make its way out somewhere.... if it isn't the steering wheel it will travel elsewhere.
  3. I have a 2014 dbl cab with 4.3, you and I have the same symptoms also. Uphill, down hill all in the steering wheel. RF balance never takes it fully away. How was your AFM? Did it vibrate in V4?
  4. That is what I find is absolutely maddening, I have the steering vibe... some days are good and I think what did I do differently, then I repeat it the next day and the vibes are back
  5. So I clamped 5 inches behind the axle. It stiffened it up and bumps feel horrible but it seems to have taken some of the "extra vibes / noise" out of the drive. With clamped behind the axle, what does that do with pinion angle? I am thinking there is lots of resonance coming from the suspension
  6. GM response, not a safety problem, no recall - yeah but your product has a serious defect. it vibrates and shakes. For them to say that it is not safety related by default tells me they know the root cause. If the vibration was due to ball joints / tie rods / hubs and studs, those are safety related. They know, they won't tell, they won't fix ... someone has done the risk / profit / fix calucation and the customer has come up a loser. All we need is Goodyear, Firestone, Michelin, and Firestone to give GM the middle finger and say "Our tires are fine, fix your truck". Think how much money those poor suckers are losing with multiple tire swaps back and forth. There has to be some negative publicity that GM dealers are pushing to the tire dealers... "oh no, the tire has a road force number of 30, it sucks, these (name manufacturer) tires suck"... Road Force of 30 works on every other vehicle just not a 2014 Silverado
  7. http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2016/03/the-mysterious-chevy-shake-is-affecting-pickup-trucks-now-too.html Share with all your friends
  8. Seeing pinion angle pop up quite a bit now, what range were the vibes?
  9. You can check them with a magnet correct?
  10. I still have the vibration in the steering wheel, can that be from the pinion angle?
  11. PM26, I raise this question again... you may be the all wise and knowing. I have steering wheel shimmy, 36,000 miles on the truck. Truck has always rode stiff. I believe the shocks and springs may be the issue. Will a bad / underperforming shock not dampen the coil spring resonance / harmonics? I see the front shocks as putting an upward force on the vehicle, but if they are starting to lose their ability to dampen and losing their upward force, then the spring starts to compress more - am I off the charts? I have RF balance numbers that are excellent on the fronts running BF Goodrich tires. The truck may run vibration free for a day to a week after any time it is road forced. My thought is that the vehicle is on a jack and lets the suspension and front shocks relax. When it is let down, the shock is slowly losing "pressure" and then basically sack out over that day or several days making the coils work more. The shocks are not leaking that I can see. I am no suspension expert and I am looking for some help.
  12. I see on this forum some of our members are finding CV joints in the front with too much play. Will that cause a front steering wheel vibration?
  13. I have a steering wheel shimmy. Last question for the crew, will a worn shock or one that loses its ability to dampen cause a tire to have excessive bounce. I think the answer is yes but: Would it feel like an out of balance tire even though it might just be road undulations? Coil springs on the front will pick up a natural resonance, some springs actually have weights attached to break up the resonance. If my shocks are worn (36000 miles but not leaking), it may not be able to stop the spring resonance by applying the forces against the spring. I have a stretch of road in town that has manhole covers placed in the section where my right tire hits them. It feels like the front end stutters over everyone. I drive the exact same stretch of highway daily and to be honest some days are completely different than others with the handling
  14. Abominable, were you the person that was going to look for someone to balance the wheel on the truck so that hub and rotor were factored in? If so, what were your results?
  15. Holy shit, mine is the right front also. Same PICO reading! Pointed to right front.
  16. Can these rims change density or have material flow (elasticity) changing mass locations? Remember they are made in China
  17. Back from another round of vibration services. Tires RF'd at dealer 1.5 months ago. Highest was 21. Drove better. Rotated tires last week drove worse. They RF'd Tuesday. One tire was now 39. Asked if I was doing burnouts, uh no not with BF Goodriches. Anyhow, was told that since I have a 275/65/18 that District GM would not even look at it in the future. I told him we can put the OEM tires back on as I still have them and we can start the song and dance again. The truck rides better but who knows for how long.
  18. Replaced under warranty but was told that I fractured the welds running in 13 inches of snow powder.
  19. Your best bet is to take it back and tell them you enjoyed your 48 hour test drive, there are few that have had some fixed but the risk is not worth the reward. Countless trips to the dealer, multiple tire balances, throwing different parts at it. The issue is 3 years old now and GM is still dumbfounded on what is causing it
  20. Radiator getting replaced this week, smelled rad fluid when walking around the front of the truck
  21. Have not posted in some time. The dealer RF balanced and was fairly decent but slowly felt like it crept back nowhere as bad though. Fast Forward to a week ago, oil change, rotate tires, discover leak in the radiator.. warranty work. Tire rotation and we are back to vibrations. Voiced my displeasure, in less than a year: Vibrations can't fix, minimize but not gone AFM vibration Steering vibration Console shakes constantly AC went out Now radiator has a leak, crack, hole So they give me as a loaner a 2015 Crew V6, 4X4 with 20 inch wheels and 3 whole miles. The steering vibration is much worse than mine but the Ride is way less harsh and none of the vibrations in AFM or console like mine has
  22. Boy the Ford site sounds familiar!
  23. Am I the first to complete the survey?
  24. Does anyone know GM spec torque for the cab mount hydraulic bushings? I have heard now anything from 90 pounds to 52.... I had mine at 90 pounds and felt everything in the road.. Backed down to 75 pounds and feels much better But really what are they supposed to be from the factory?
  25. SteveU, did your dealer use a PICO on your truck? What did the dealer tell you was out of spec? I did not review the readings but took the dealer's word that it was tires needing roadforce balanced. Road Force balancing made and improvement but vibration is still there. So my question to all again: Are some dealers hiding the real PICO readings? Hoping we go away? Or are the PICOs picking up tire when it should be rear end?
