  1. I have an appointment tomorrow with the service group. I want them to concentrate on the steering wheel vibrations that 2 sets of tires and countless RF balance will not fix. I want them to look at these: 1. Front shocks suck - feels like no dampening in them I feel every road imperfection 2. Possible motor mount needs shimmed or is loose 3. Anything else you would suggest????
  2. I have seen the pinion nut and pinion bearing preload coming up in different threads. Who is a mechanic and can explain what they mean?
  3. Set an appointment up at dealer last night for steering wheel resonance vibration. Was lucky enough to meet another guy there with a vibrating Silverado, he filed lemon law so GM engineering was all over his truck. He said that GM was going to put new tires on it, I laughed and said good luck. I enlightened him on the 420 page forum, where GM has replaced shocks, tires, rims, driveshafts, axles, rear ends, shimmed motor mounts, found preloads on bearings incorrect, etc. He was speechless
  4. My steering wheel shake is the worst of it all. The rear seems settled down but steering wheel is irritating. I can actually feel the steering wheel vibrate at idle in drive. I think it may be motor mounts needing shimmed but waiting to get into dealer.
  5. I was thinking of this today. Wait until you have to replace the tires. You will have to do it at a dealership because the road force spec on these trucks is less than what the tire industry spec is. Therefore good luck finding a tire dealer wheeling to swap tires out to find the perfect match. Or should as consumers we force our GM dealers to pay for RF since the Silverado spec is tighter than the tire industry threshold.
  6. And they still have not fixed it... Dealing with a 2014 with vibrations and now seeing more 2015's pop up with the same issues - GM keeps pumping them out and screwing their dealerships with trying to clean it up... Dealerships probably feel like the clowns with shovels following horses in a parade
  7. Can you send a pic or tell us what the fix looks like?
  8. Need some help. I can move the steering shaft about 1/4" to 3/8". It will actually move in the sleeve to the firewall. Is this normal? Could this contribute to steering wheel vibration?
  9. Tag for the update.
  10. OK, as I said yesterday. I have a local dealer who is working to remove the V6 - V4 vibration from a truck. They are working with GM engineering. He said they ran the whole laundry list of fixes, tires, driveshaft, rear end. Still had the issue. They contacted my dealer with the checklist. I spoke to my dealer yesterday. We talked some details of what GM has been looking at. These were his words: flex pipe, exhaust manifold angle may not be correct, cab dampener. Once they see if these fixes work, I will be a test mule. On a separate note, I went thru a trusted tire shop for a RF balance. Truck still vibrated. I also have been running around for 2 weeks on body mounts that were only torqued to 40 pounds. I had backed them off to let the body settle. I could not find a torque spec so I went with 95 ft /lbs. The truck responded well and I think this has been the best it felt in months. The ride to work was awesome with just an occasional vibe but not the full time. I will say that the steering wheel has a constant resonance. I am going to try an experiment to cover the steering shaft with a thick rubber hose and zip ties to see if it deadens the resonance / harmonics that are traveling up the shaft. I am also adding my muffler back on for 2 reasons: 1. I think any noise in that area is able to travel back thru my hollow driveshaft adding to a resonance 2. I want the truck to be as whole as possible if GM decides to dig into exhaust as a possible fix
  11. What are body mount torque specs on a double cab
  12. This does not make me hopeful at all.
  13. I noticed something about my vibration today. I was cruising at 77. Flat stretch. The vibration seemed to be non-existent but gradually built up to a console shaker over a half mile stretch. No throttle or steering input. It also seems to be much worse on sweeping highway turns or when cresting a hill at highway speed.
  14. I had the 15304 recall done. Seems to be some minor mods to the shift patterns. Holding gears a tad longer maybe. Just feels better shifting. While there I test drove a 2015 DBL V8, what is this with the steering wheel vibration / resonance? The rear did not vibrate but the steering wheel just lacked any dampening at all. It seems like it all just travels up the shaft - noise / tire resonance. The salesman was great and explained that it was just flat spots on the tires and that will go away. lol
  15. I just spoke with a local dealership here in Ohio. They have a test pig coming into their shop on Wednesday to fit an experimental kit for V6 / V4 vibration. A GM engineer will be on site to do the install. He and I will be in contact then to discuss the kit in more detail. If all goes well, he will personally contact my dealership to oversee the ordering and installation of the kit. This guy seemed to care more about fixing my truck than my dealer I bought it off of.

  17. Something to think about. I had front tires balanced 7 days ago by Wednesday of this week it felt like a new truck. Today the ride was horrible and steering wheel vibe is back. It seems that every time the tires are balanced I have 2 or 3 days where it feels great. So that got me thinking, what other than tires happens when you get a tire balance? They jack vehicle up and the front end is unsupported, what if anything would take several days to settle back into a range that starts vibration. Shocks? Springs? Has anyone put spring rubbers in to stiffen up the coils

  19. 2015 Silverado LT Vibration/Shaking I FOUND THE POST AND WAITING MA - SILVERADOS UPDATE
  20. MA - ANY UPDATE ON THIS?
  21. For the mods, I posted in that thread that I cant find. Is there a way to view my posts so that I can find it.
  22. Someone will pop in to say, I follow several different threads so it is hard to tell which one.
  23. Sorry Jesse D, it was not you. I forget the poster's name but definitely not you, it almost sounded like it was new fix for AFM and he was a potential test candidate.
  24. Less than a week ago, I recall that someone got called in for the AFM vibration. It sounded like it was a Beta fix from GM. Who was that and did it get fixed?
