  1. Bought a pair of the factory GM boxes (installed one so far), and they are pretty slick. Don't take up a ton of room when they are locked into place, and hold quite a bit of "stuff". Have gone through touchless car washes, and no leaks, so that is an added bonus. I would recommend them.
  2. That was my point, if the build location is that important in your buying decision, probably should look at another brand of truck.
  3. Does it really make a difference?
  4. Welcome to the site. I would go to a local parts store, pick up a plastic trim removal kit (if you do not have one) and just "pop" open the covers, adjust them and snap it back into place. May have to pry off the cover below the steering colum on the dash too, but the kits come with an assortment of tools.
  5. No reset, it is a lot more usefull tool for fleet or commercial trucks that do maintenance service based on hours, or a combo of both hours and miles.
  6. Try this one, it is for a Sierra, but will make more sense.
  7. It did get worse. Problem has not returned since the fluid exchange.
  8. Would get the fluid changed as soon as you can, especially if you are getting the rumble strip effect. I was getting that at 1500 RPMs, speeds from 45 to roughly 70. New fliud and it went away.
  9. Do you stiil have the transmission fluid from the factory in it? If so, need to exchange it with the new Blue Label Mobil One that is used in the TSB for the 8 speeds.
  10. Winter blend gas? Maybe try another station?
  11. If it is flashing 3 or 6 times, you have a problem somewhere. Could be a bad ground on the HVAC controls, ambient temp sensor is bad, low on coolant, problems with the HVAC system itself, ect... Not sure if just a new control unit will fix this one.
  12. Should be, had the battery in my 14 replaced under warranty, same with our 16 Tahoe. Just put a new AC Delco Gold in my 18, runs like a new truck again. Amazing how much these trucks like a fresh battery.
  13. Welcome to the site. Normally you have a CEL if the RS does not work. Just some guesses, original battery to truck? Original batteries in fobs?
  14. the film flew out Did not know that was possible.
  15. So, what if you found a used truck with all of the options you wanted? Still not going to buy it? Plan for the controller? Just going to keep what you have, sorry if I am not following what your plan is now.
  16. Think it is there from factory on all trucks, but is used if the truck is E-85 compatible.
  17. Good to hear. Most problems will be the cable, or USB port itself. Sometimes upairing the phone from the truck, and starting fresh works too.
  18. Which USB port are you using? Trim level of truck?
  19. Not sure if this a dumb question (most are), but have you taken one of the factory ones out and compared? I bought extras because the "metal" skid plates take 8 bolts, and the factory plastic shields take 6 (if I remember correctly).
  20. About this 11518341 Bolt This part is a bolt, hexagon, m10x1.5x25, 14 thread, 28 outside diameter, 6202m, 7114m, tappet, tr-point (transfer case shield), for Hummer, Chevrolet, Chevrolet Trucks, Oldsmobile Trucks, Cadillac Trucks, Cadillac, and GMC Trucks cars. It fits for 649 General Motors vehicles which were sold in the U.S. from 1995 to 2014. It's a genuine General Motors part with an OEM part number 11518341. This bolt has dimensions 1.40 in × 1.80 in × 1.40 in, it has a weight of 2.24 ounces, usually, it comes in a set of 1 item in retail packaging.
  21. This is the part number (bolts) I used when I put the metal skid plates on my truck. Lower Shield Bolt 11518341
  22. Welcome to the site. My two guesses would be either the coolant temp sensor, or thermostat has failed.
  23. What are the total miles on the truck? Maybe time to service the system anyway?
  24. I would check the oil level, may be a little low on the dipstick after an extended hard pull like that.
