  1. I guess that's one way to deal with living in a flood zone, but if the water's going to get that high, there should be a boat/trailer parked under that "carport" also.
  2. What, no spare gas can strapped to the tongue of the trailer?
  3. 80 mph @ 1900 rpm, crazy OD gearing!
  4. Only thing is that there are a lot more "little people" adversely affected by higher auto prices than there are auto workers benefiting. The wage/price spiral is a real thing and makes inflation all that more difficult to control. Inflation has been said to be the cruelest tax of all and it falls hardest on those least able to afford it. Unless the US is successful in keeping cheap Chinese autos out of the US market, auto workers, UAW, or not will have priced themselves out of a job.
  5. Are there rubber plugs present on the door jamb and lower cowl jam on the HD WT? If so the wiring for the power windows may already be there. Look under the dash near your left foot kick panel. Not for sure, but an '04 might be old enough that all the grounding for various components doesn't have to go through the BCM so if the power window wiring is already there, you may have lucked out and can plug and play, good luck!
  6. Awesome! Now I know I'm not the only hillbilly out there, my first wife and I watched the movie "Papillon" reclining in lawn chairs in the back of a 1941 Ford p/u at a drive-in theatre in Clarkston, Wa. in the 1970's.
  7. GM implemented their RVC (regulated voltage control), basically a smart charging system in 2005, although I'm not sure if it applies to the HD trucks. If you're not familiar with RVC, you might want to read up on it. If your new alternator and the battery tests good, the only thing left that I can think of is your battery cables, they could be corroded or even broken internally and causing an intermittent connection. I suppose you could test them by putting a voltmeter on the battery with the engine running and yanking on or flexing the battery cables one at a time and see if you get any voltage fluctuation. Make sure and be careful of the fan if you have a mechanical one.
  8. All good points, on the tree crap, I used to live in an area that had cottonwood trees, the worst tree crap of all. I had a '81 C10 at that time amongst other vehicles, I'm not sure if the C10's radiator fins were closer together than in my other vehicles as the C10 seemed to be the only one with the issue, but even after pulling the radiator and back-flushing it with 95 PSI of water pressure the fuzz remained stuck in there so I just gave up and replaced the radiator.
  9. Brian, please don't belittle your intellect, you must be a good man that looks for the good in people and doesn't focus on negativity, that's the reason the sick humor wasn't readily apparent to you. Suddenly, I don't feel so go about myself .
  10. Welcome to the forum! Wow, that paint finish really pops, so mirror like that I could shave with it! Ceramic coated?
  11. Since we're older now, most of the miles we rack up on our vehicles now are in town, so for the auto transmission service schedule I go by the severe schedule and subtract about 10k or so. I can't think of anything harder on a transmission except one overheated by towing than "grocery getter" miles as the clutches stay very "busy" to say the least, maybe by a factor of 20? over a transmission that sees mainly highway miles and is in lockup mode.
  12. Wow, 6 asterisks for a 4 letter word that starts with a and ends with l and has na in between. I assume the censoring is an automatic algorithm, maybe they have started using AI that thinks a body part is a really, really bad thing!
  13. In my case, arthritis forced that lesson on me. If not for that I would probably would still be my ****** and OCD do it yourself-er. On a related note, as the proverbial roll of toilet paper gets closer to the end, I find I have less and less patience for things or people that waste my time.
  14. I made the mistake of making an appointment for an oil change at the dealer this morning for 10:30 am to get the factory fill oil changed out on my wife's 2024 Blazer at about 1800 miles. At noon there were still 2 cars ahead of me. I did notice in that time only one customer in the waiting room had their car ready for them. Since my wife is diabetic and was getting hangry, I picked up my key fob and left without getting the oil change. Turns out that the dealer had 3 people in the service department call off work today, then the well duh moment hit me. Oil change jockeys are typically young and single and apparently so PW that they let their girlfriends convince them that Valentine's Day should be a national holiday akin to the Fourth of July and that they needed to take the whole day off and devote it to their sweetie, so much for work ethic. Lesson learned, never again will I make an appointment at the dealer for service work on Valentine's Day. The fault really laid with the service advisors that should have forewarned customers of the situation and given them the option of either pretty much waiting all day or re-scheduling.
  15. Yikes! There goes your yearly assessment ^.
  16. California, Nevada, and Arizona are happy. They will need that Colorado River Basin water to help replenish Lake Mead.
  17. One also needs to consider the cost of insurance and licensing with getting an extra vehicle. Here in SC the sales tax is capped at $500 on vehicle sales so you would be paying twice as much in sales tax as a starter. Plus there is the issue of an extra vehicle taking up garage or driveway space, ask me how I know.
  18. Use your B to B warranty and have the dealer check it out.
  19. At 11.8 volts your battery's state of charge is only at about 30%. A fully charged battery will be in the 12.7 volt range.
  20. Got up to 82 today. 2nd day for the year that I've had to turn the a/c on. Usually don't have to turn it on for the first time for the year until February.
  21. You can use tow/haul for that.
  22. Grumpy, I've got a couple of things for you to consider, and no, politics is not directly involved and if you don't agree with me that's fine too. On the milk and greed issue, there is as much and maybe more greed on Walmart's part than on the owners of the Marathon convenience store and the Dollar General store. In all likelihood at least the Marathon store was a franchise store owned by a small businessman, not sure if Dollar General has a franchise business model or not. Walmart buys in such huge quantities that they can basically set the price they will pay for many items and most certainly they are using that 1/2 gallon of milk as an extreme loss leader to get you in the store where they can whack you when you pick up that impulse item or two at the checkout register. Ok, so you drove the 20 mile round trip to save $3 so lets say it's a wash on your operating cost per mile vs. the $3 saved. But what about your time, what's that worth? I get it that sometimes we think we need to send a message, but unless you're in a small town dealing with a businessman that you personally know, your voice is just not heard in today's world. Ok, back to how much your time is worth or are there better uses for our time than trying to save a few dollars. Only you can answer if the time you spent on that drive to Walmart would have been better spent with your recuperating wife. Unless I'm looking to purchase what Wall Street calls a durable good or what most of us call a major purchase, I don't spend a lot of time trying to find the best price. If the price of a non-durable good that I desire bothers me that much, I either find a substitute or do without, with the exception of toilet paper, ha. Grumpy, brother, you've got to be nearly as old as I am, so please remember with every birthday your time becomes more valuable, which reminds me I'm due for another big raise real soon! I know, I know, I've refuted my own argument by taking the time to spew what some may consider drivel, who do I bill? lol
  23. Only thing I can think of is to try some graphite powder on the key in the event the key is not fully going in all the way. It's available in small plastic squeeze tubes at auto parts stores. I bought some a couple of years ago at O'Reilly's.
  24. Stan, I would assume it's because it saves them a split second when they're after the next incorrigible, but for safety's sake it should be the way you've painted it.
