Little chirp/squeak noise coming from center of dash...
mojohn replied to m3n00b's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Thanks ya'll for finding out what was squeaking. I was chasing that noise for months. I found that brace bolt loose, tightened it up, and no more squeak. Thanks! 2017 Silverado LT -
I'm very happy with my Bilsteins. More stability, less bounce. 2017 Silverado LT

Shake/ vibration different than the Chevy shake
mojohn replied to Jamesgierak's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Same symptoms here. Stock wheels and tires. It's as if a tire tread or belt has separated, but all tires are band new, and are road force balanced. I also have slight vibrations at 25, 43, 63 & mph. 10 new Michelin tires did not fix issues. A new torque converter (paid for by the warranty, 39,000 miles) minimized the higher speed vibrations. Still have the wobble at 1-13mph. Maybe it's the drive shaft out of round. Drive shaft diagnosis is the my next step in my journey. 2017 Silverado LT, 6 speed transmission. 2WD, Crewcab, Short bed. Trouble did not start until @38,000 miles. -
Drove it some at morning rush hour speeds (1-14mph). Shimmy/Wobble still exists. Vibrations at 25mph, 43mph, and 60+ are gone. I Guess the next stop is the drive shaft. I asked my service writer if they put in a better torque converter, or one just like the original, and he said it is same as the original. I asked if I'd have to replace it in 38,000 miles like the first one, and he said probably. I asked if changing ATF at 10,000-15,000 miles is recommended, and he said no. ===================================================================== 6/15/2020: 2017 Silverado LT. 6 speed trans. 39,000 miles. "Chevy shake" since @38,000 miles. Felt like suspension trouble to me, but 10 new Michelin tires didn't fix it.

New torque converter was installed. No results to report yet. Stop and go traffic driving scheduled for June 24, this is when the shimmy is most noticeable, 1-12 mph. *Dealer disconnects the battery overnight during repair, so keep that in mind! I cannot recommend getting a state inspection on the way home from the dealer. Code reader noted five monitors that displayed "not ready". Failed inspection. Inspector instructions were to drive it a few days and bring it back for re-inspection. More information later.

Speed Turtle Easy Flash Module 3.0 (for 2017+ Trucks)
mojohn replied to ESMD's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Installed mine about a year ago. Use it occasionally. Works fine for me. John -
I want to re-install the stock AM/FM antenna mast. Of course, now I can't find the threaded adapter, it goes between the base and the mast. Anyone got an extra they don't need? Thanks , John 2017 Silverado LT

Quoted to add: Folded a towel 4-6 layers. Placed it on the floor in the opening between rear passenger door and rocker panel as close to the hinge as possible. (Closed the door on it) Been working for the past month. I'm much happier now. The towel gets wet when it rains, or truck gets washed. I can live with that a while. Best, John, KF5ZMD

Hope springs eternal. Folded a towel over to @4 layers thickness. Closed the rear passenger door on it, it's next to the b-pillar, below the rear door hinges. A small amount hangs out from under the door. Noisy hinges I learned about here, post #84: https://www.coloradofans.com/forums/177-2nd-gen-interior/266250-rattle-near-seat-belt-cover-5.html Been out on several trips, and it's working so far, so good. Wish me luck. Best, John

Tried all that. While the rubber boot was slightly loose, this suggestion did not fix my rattle. Back to the drawing board.

Thanks, I'll give 'er a whirl. John

84 ° this afternoon. It seems to do better when it's cold. Best, John, KF5ZMD

Oops, I just had the one photo of the seatbelt electric wires. Sorry. The b-pillar cover is all held in with clips. Remove the bottom door sill covers front and back and it all just unclips. Pretty simple. Remove the front and rear door sill plates by lifting them straight up.....the b pillar cover should then come off by firmly pulling it in the exact opposite direction from the post it is attached to. Hope this is helpful, John, KF5ZMD

I am cautiously optimistic that I've found the cure for my passenger side B Pillar ticking. Went through almost every suggestion in this forum. Finally, I removed the lower pillar plastic cover and saw that a couple wires connected to the seat belt mechanism were very close to the cover itself. The wires are at / near floor-level. They were like almost rubbing the cover. See image. I then wire-tied the wires to the metal B Pillar. I noticed in the middle of the B Pillar is a wire bundle. Just for giggles, I wire-tied that wire bundle to the B Pillar, too. Been a dozen or so trips since, and the dreaded B Pillar tick has been fixed. So far. Best, John, KF5ZMD

Question for those who have Speed Turtle
mojohn replied to Beer Belly's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Mine's been doing good. Received in October. Works fine, thanks. Operates while driving. I programmed it to "not" flash red (brake) lights while in "drive", so I don't get a ticket from the police here in TX. You can program it to "not" flash any lights while in drive, if I recall. You can program the unit to "not" flash the headlights at all, if I remember right. Headlamps do not flash when driving at night. I can't see it voiding a warranty, as I cut no wires, but YMMV. Best to all, John, KF5ZMD -
So, was it difficult to remove the upper trim? Are there any tips or tricks? Thanks, John
