  1. I made a bracket that bolts up to the trailer hitch & wired them into the reverse lights.   Have a couple diodes to wire up to the switched bed light also when the weather gets nice enough.
  2. Like we said at the r/c airplane field...gravity sucks. Was connecting ground for the grille running lights when I fumbled the ratchet. Used a "piggyback" fuse insert into #42 "PRK lamp rt" in the underhood fusebox for the +. No codes.
  3. Learned to not drop a 1/4" drive w/ 10mm socket into the engine compartment when removing the nut on the negative battery terminal... Got it out though.
  4. When I picked mine up last summer, my son (who has been driving a couple years) got in and pointed to the column shifter and asked: "What's that?" Being a manual transmission fan...(dying breed), I don't necessarily prefer the column shift, but it's a truck. I'll probably never have the need to have 3 people in the front, but many do. The shifters today in more and more vehicles are just an electrical switch, so the engineers could be a little more creative and cost effective in their design of a "shifter" than the current column shifter though. The rotary dial on the dash of the Ram seemed a little awkward when I took one for a test drive, but I thought "why not".
  5. I uploaded a slideshow of some stills to Y.T.. I'm not suggesting anyone buy or not buy one of these, but overall I can't see any issues other than the plastic is painted and there are a couple pieces of dust that were painted over, but unless you were really looking for it you wouldn't see it. The letters are made of a white plastic then painted (Chrome was also available), and there are a couple letters that could be cleaned up a little bit on the back with some sandpaper before installing, but not bad at all. The stock plastic and metal clips would have to be reused, and I've done enough stereo installs and trailer wiring here in Mi to know it's not a good idea to be yanking on plastic in the cold weather, and it may be a while before I have an afternoon available that I can start on installing it. Will post results when I do.
  6. This thread was moved from the 19-20 "mods" section to the "for sale/wanted" section.(?) I originally posted it for an informative intent, not "for sale". Could a moderator move this posting back to the "mod" section please? T.Y.
  7. Here's a couple cell phone pics. Will get better ones tomorrow.
  8. I will get some pics up tomorrow, but I did order one of these w/o the driving lights. With the snow & lack of time, I don't have it installed yet, but it doesn't look too bad. The driving/fog light area has a "knockout" from the back you can cut out if you want to install them some day. I see the ones on Fleabay are in CA, but the supplier I got this one from is in NJ., but I'm 99.99% sure it's the same one.
  9. Upon looking at a few more pics I found on Alibaba, the grill with the led cube lights looks pretty tacky the way it's mounted. The pics below are stills from a video on one of the ads for the older Silverados, but the ones for the T1's look like they are built in the same manner. If I were to "take one for the team" and order one, I'd get one w/o the cube lights and see if there would be room to mount some flush mount lights...
  10. Saw these on Fleabay and wondering if anyone has given one a try. Looks promising if they are decent quality...
  11. It's not that bad...we have about 3 months in the summer when we can keep them clean.
  12. Put on close to 900 miles yesterday traveling to and from Houghton MI. That's salt from the roads (on the sides, not tailgate) in case you've never spent a winter up North. ?
  13. Haven't seen one that fits in the switch row like you circled. If GM has one available, I haven't seen one yet. Would be nice to have one though...
  14. I've had thoughts of trying to design a mount just about like those to 3d print. Temp might be an issue though. Was thinking I'd wire up a relay off of the high beams so I wouldn't have to worry about adding an extra switch...
  15. Just a note...I was under my truck the other day and see that all but one section of my HVAC tape has came off. I imagine if I would have wrapped all the way around the pipe, it wouldn't have came off as easily.
  16. There are a few, newer engines that have 30psi max for less drag, and supposedly with the thin oil, 30psi is enough. (from what I read.)
  17. I went from a '15 Camaro w/ Eibach sway bars to an '18 Jeep 2dr JL (which I traded in on my '19 LT Z71). The Wrangler's handling was comical...if not dangerous.
  18. Which tire/wheel combo did you get? Maybe your salesman could let you take a similar truck with a different tire/wheel combo for a ride. Tires alone can make a hell of a difference. My LT Z71's ride is fairly decent, and is MUCH firmer ride than the '19 ram I test drove. The ram seemed to be very "boaty". Hope you get it sorted out.
  19. I haven't driven mine enough to have a valid before/after mpg, but I haven't noticed my mpg improving...but that could be due to several reasons. We are moving our son up to college in a couple weeks which is a 400 mile trip each way. Thought I'd remove flapper mod for the trip home to see if there's a notable difference.
  20. I noticed how the exhaust on my 5.3 is "clearanced" where it crosses over. I'm not an engineer, and I'm sure it's not as constrictive as it looks...but being pinched off like that looks painful. Seems to me there would be reduced flow due to the turbulence it would make.
  21. Did mine a couple days ago. I had some left over HVAC aluminum foil tape and taped up the "vents". Then for the flapper mod, I took about 4 1/2" piece of flexible metal strap and made a "U", with equal length's on all 3 sides, tightened it onto the outside of the flapper valve, turned it the direction in the pic, then tightened the inside with the hose clamps. I've driven it a few hundred miles and the tape is holding up fine, and with it being taped facing the inside of the truck, you can't see it from the wheel well. Again, it's not going to make your truck set off car alarms...but does give you a nice little sound improvement for in my case, just left over items in my barn. **UPDATE Noticed tonight (9/24/19) that most of my foil tape patches have blown off. Guessing too much heat for the adhesive on the foil tape.
  22. I just dabble with 3d printing for personal stuff & share on Thingiverse. If I did come up with something, I could make up a few though... Which "holes" are we looking at? I attached a pic with a few circles. The ones in yellow could be easily filled with those black "Christmas tree" plugs you can pick up on auto stores or Ebay. I'm wondering if we'd really want to plug up the ones in blue and green due to moisture/rust concerns. With some personal matters, I'm pretty tied up, but might give some time to mess around with something 3d printed. We also need to realize 3d prints are usually printed in relatively low melting point plastics & depending on design of print might not be real tough. My thoughts of making a driving light bezel are pretty much on hold due to the heat generated. Might be able to make something up for some led strip lights for bling, but nothing that would generate much heat. P.S. Sorry to be off topic. Will begin a 3d printed thread.
  23. When I get a few mins, it doesn't look like it would be too difficult to make up a .stl to 3d print them...(kind of appears these might be 3d printed) Maybe with a bowtie on them... I'm also toying with the idea of a fog light insert.
