  1. Plasti-dipped my emblems. I love that stuff, haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. LOL! Thanks! We'll really have twins when I get black rims this spring! When I was truck shopping, I had my color choices narrowed down to black and silver. I looked at hundreds of pictures before deciding. There were a few pics that I kept coming back to, and your truck was one of them. It looks awesome!!
  3. Yeah, those look gigantic, haha. They look like they'd rub for sure!
  4. That's pretty sweet. Those are big tires! I didn't think that size would rub the sway bar, since they're not much wider than stock...but thought they could rub the fender liner or mud flaps.
  5. Haha, yep, exactly. I've had a few black vehicles myself. You can't beat them when they're shined up though! Didn't you used to have a 3.5" Tuff Country suspension lift???
  6. Yes. That size will fit on a completely stock truck, so you'll be just fine. Good to know! Thank you!
  7. No problem. With a level kit and your stock 18" rims, you have a lot of tire options. 275/70/18, 285/65/18, or 305/60/18 will fit easily (and will actually fit on a stock truck). You should also be able to run 285/70/18, 295/65/18, or 305/65/18 without much trouble. And, 295/70/18, 285/75/18, or 33x12.50x18 might clear, but could require some trimming (or might rub the sway bar at full lock).
  8. Nice! I'm a sucker for those Midnight trucks. They're sooooo sharp! I'd have one in a heartbeat, if I wouldn't be a nervous wreck about keeping it clean and worrying about every little rock chip or scratch!
  9. You probably won't get much response, because that question has been answered dozens of times...and members expect the new guys to search for their answers before asking a common question. I'll give you the short answer...Yes, your truck has a 1.25" rear block, so replacing it with a 2.25" block will give you 1" of rear lift total. And yes, you can run a level kit in the front (and your combination of bilstein & spacer will be fine as long as you don't go higher than 2.5" total). I did something similar on my last two trucks. On my 2009, I ran a 2" spacer in the front and 3" blocks in the rear. Factory rake was about the same (which was nice for towing), but the whole truck sat 2" higher than stock. Then, on my 2012, I ran a 2" front spacer and 2" rear block. That truck only had about 1" of rake, so I added Timbren SES (with 1" spacers) to the rear to help with squat when towing. And, if you tell me your rim size, I can help you with tire sizes...
  10. That's what I've heard. I'm looking forward to not having to hand wash it nearly as often!
  11. Got my windows tinted a few days ago. Went with 20% on all four doors and the back window, and a 5% strip across the top of the windshield. It's amazing how window tint greatly improves the look of a vehicle! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  12. Thank you. I've always taken pride in my vehicles, and I enjoy customizing them to set them apart from every other one on the road! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  13. I noticed the same thing this week, when driving in the snow. Will probably have the dealer double check things when it goes back for its first oil change. Sounds like I'm not the only one that notices it, though!
  14. Correct. No suspension changes at all, and no rubbing...even with the big GM splash guards.
  15. Thank you! I don't mind the 17's at all, and I saved about $1400 over the 18's...which allowed me to step up from a double cab to a crew cab. The bigger tires really help it out. I think 285/75/17 is a perfect size for these HD's with the 17" rims. They're tall enough to help fill out the wheel wells, but not too wide for the narrow rims. I'm a huge fan of black rims, so I'm leaning towards running these through the winter, and just swapping the tires over to some aftermarket 17's in the spring. And, if I level the front end at that time, I think these tires will still look okay.
  16. Good deal! I've been eyeing that kit (or the Rough Country 3.5"), but if I go the full 3" I don't think I'll fit in my garage, haha. Good to know that kit still rides good at 3".
  17. Good gravy! That's sharp! How do you like the ride? Is yours cranked the full 3"?
  18. Added some N-Fab bed access steps this weekend. Ordered them from 4 Wheel Parts. Installation was pretty straightforward. I was working by myself, so holding them in place to get the first bolt started on each side was a challenge. After that, it wasn't bad at all. Overall, I like them. They help hide the frame that hangs down, will protect the rocker panels from rock chips, and serve their main purpose of making it easier to enter and exit the cab. 19. Well, I wanted to lift the rear a bit too, so I went with the Zone 2" front/rear kit. It came with the 2" spacer for the front, as well as rear blocks and u-bolts. I ran that same kit on my 2009 (with Zone shocks), and had good luck with it...so I decided to run the same kit on my 2012. Zone has a good price on the 2" front/rear lift. Rough Country now has a similar 2.5" kit, but I didn't want to lift the front that much anyway. Either kit would be a good one.
  20. Thanks man. This is my first silver vehicle. I've had numerous black vehicles, two dark green metallic vehicles, and my last truck was graystone metallic. I have to say that graystone was (and still is) my favorite color. It was very easy to keep clean for being a darker color. However, they didn't make a gray in 2016, so it was either silver or black for me. I hate daily driving black vehicles, because they only look good for about 2 days after you wash them, haha. I think silver is going to be very easy to keep clean. I also like how it almost looks like a light gray in the evening. I've never really been a fan of bright red, so I can't help you there, haha.
  21. No need to worry. They're super strong. I put almost 70k miles on my 2012 with the Zone Offroad 2" kit (which is the same material as Rough Country), without any issues at all.
  22. Roger that, buddy! Yeah, some people don't want it any taller than level. For them, an expensive leveling kit (that improves the ride) makes sense too. Personally, I'm a sucker for lifted trucks. Every time I see one, I almost run off the road from gawking at it, haha. If I had the money (and a taller garage), I'd be running a 4-5" lift and 35's for sure. I just love that look on an HD. However, I'd be sick having to leave my brand new truck parked outside in crazy central Illinois weather, haha.
  23. Thanks for the link. Yeah, I've seen that kit. It's pretty sweet, but there's no way I'm dropping that kind of coin on a leveling kit, haha. I understand what you're getting (upgrading) with that kit, but it wouldn't change the look of the truck enough to justify the cost for me. If I was going to spend over $1200, I'd go with a full 4-5" suspension kit and crank it down just enough to clear 35's. I considered running something like the Rough County 3.5", Zone 3", or Tuff Country 3.5". Those kits come with new keys, new shocks (or shock extensions), differential spacers, and new UCA's...for well under $1000. In fact, the RC kit is only $550. If I went that route, I'd probably leave out the rear block and crank it down to 2-2.5". That would probably ride pretty good. I'll most likely just crank the factory keys 1.5-2" and be done. Maybe add longer shocks or shock extensions if necessary.
