Mangoal or FitcamX OEM Dashcam?
N715DP replied to AirMech74's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I'd honestly guess that these are both made in the same chinese factory now that I've taken the time to click around the link you provided for the FitCam. I even saw that they have a polarizing lens option on their site... despite having the Mangoal, I'm going to order one and see if it works with mine - it should as it looks like it's held on with 2-sided tape around the existing lens which looks identical to what I have. -
Mangoal or FitcamX OEM Dashcam?
N715DP replied to AirMech74's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I installed the Mangoal on my RST (no auto dimming) without any issues at all. I had to use the included OBD port power cord which was the "hardest part" because of running the wire down to under the dash (which wasn't really hard at all). Running the wire to the rear camera was also "hard" just in that it was cumbersome to pull weather stripping to access tucking the wire under the headliner, I did this along the passenger side. There's plenty of wire for my crew cab, if I recall, I think I had 2 feet of slack or so which is just tucked into the headliner. Picture quality is good... not great. It would be nice if the lens was polarized to cut down on the glare/reflection of the dash in the windshield. In a normal seating position, I can't see the camera at all behind the mirror and it looks very stock. The SkyCamm app is also good... not great. It does what it needs to do in terms of accessing the recordings. -
While not exactly the same situation, I can back up the fact that speed kills MPG when towing. With my 2013 Avalanche (5.3, 6 speed), anything over 60 or so would destroy MPG quickly when towing my car (open uhaul trailer, 2015 MX-5, combined, about 5200lbs) or a camping trailer (about 7000lbs). I don't have direct use of the newer 5.3's and transmissions but I've seen similar with my 3.0 diesel above 65-70 when hauling the same car/trailer combo (albeit, much higer mpg numbers, I still see a drop off significantly).

GM Hard Folding Tonneau by REV review
N715DP replied to ShamrockShooter's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Ok, so, I've had it with this cover. It's just terrible. No amount of adjusting front-to-back will make up for the fact that it's just too short. I don't expect a water-tight bed, but the amount of water getting in at all four corners (and actually in one of the joints) is just unacceptable. The fact that this is an "official" GM accessory, installed by the dealer just makes it worse. Any thoughts on an alternative that will actually... you know... fit? Perhaps one that covers the bed sides a little better? I don't really have a preference on hard folding or roll up or what have you - other than not a single piece tilt-up. Thanks in advance. -
NHTSA Recall Notice 24V-797
N715DP replied to Transient's topic in Engines & Drivetrain (V8, Duramax, TurboMax)
This was my understanding of the recall as well - they aren't actually fixing it, just putting a monitor in place to warn of an impending issue... not sure if this is a stop-gap while they engineer a new part or just lazy. -
NHTSA Recall Notice 24V-797
N715DP replied to Transient's topic in Engines & Drivetrain (V8, Duramax, TurboMax)
This recall is interesting to me as well. I have a refreshed 22.5 model and it is not covered. But I have had a couple of instances on the highway where I've experienced the shudder that is described. The couple of times it has happened. It has always been when under relatively minor acceleration, for example, using the plus on the cruise control to speed up from 60 to 70 or 65 to 70 or somewhere along those lines. I didn't equate it to a specific gearshift change, but I'm guessing it's the downshift from 10th to 8th. I have about 22,000 miles on my truck currently. -

Click in steering column when brake is pressed
N715DP replied to lapoolboy's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Sounds like the safety mechanism to allow you to shift from park (as in, sensor on brake pedal is triggered, allowing the shifter to move). It's been audible in vehicles I've had in the past (including my 2013 Avalanche and my 2013 Traverse, among others), but not crazy loud or anything. I have a center console in my truck with the electronic shift so it doesn't exist for me now. -
new radio update recall N242435631
N715DP replied to kickass audio's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I try to explain it like this... There are two "sides" to your infotainment. The "GM Side" runs on Android Automotive - this is independent of your phone. This is the interface where you have fan controls, trailer applications, radio (AM/FM/XM) functions, etc. The "Phone Side" is either Android Auto (not Automotive) or Apple CarPlay. This is where your "phone mirroring" for lack of a better term, takes place. The muddy waters are when you connect via bluetooth (or plug in) and are not in "Phone Side". Functions here are bluetooth audio through the "GM Side" radio functions, text messages and phone calls. These are far more basic than if you're in "Phone Side". I'm an Apple Car Play user and never go to the "GM Side" other than for camera views. I have full notifications, dictation, reading messages aloud, etc. While I don't use Android Auto (not Automotive), the functionality should be the same - if you're in Android Auto, you should have full read/reply/maps/etc. without a data plan. -

This sounds like you're in bluetooth-connected Android Automotive on "the chevy side" of the system, not Android Auto (sometimes better referred to as phone projection). -
I have used PowerStop on several vehicles of various uses (offroad, street, track) and have loved them in every application.

The "Google Layer" of the refreshed systems is a massively crippled OS - general motors has essentially castrated it to be near useless (I assume to make more money with OnStar services). Your best bet would be to find an app on your phone that displays weather via CarPlay/Android Auto.

GM Hard Folding Tonneau by REV review
N715DP replied to ShamrockShooter's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Acquired my truck CPO back in June and it had this cover installed at the dealer before I bought it. I was excited because it would have been something I would have added immediately... then it rained. I can't begin to describe how disappointed I am in this cover. As stated in this thread, there are so many issues. Mostly, it seems like it's about 1/2" too short. I've adjusted and added weather stripping and all kinds of things to try and plug up all four corners to no avail. If I move the cover "back" toward the cab, there's a huge gap all along the tailgate, if I move it "forward" toward the tailgate, there's a huge gap all along the bed wall. I have it pretty centered now and so all four corners leak - yay! I don't understand how GM can sell this cover as it is or how no one has said or done anything about it... this is an "official" gm accessory and it seems like something that came off of Temu or Alibaba. -
Wifi question please help.

You don't want to turn off android auto, you want to forget your truck's wifi network (the truck's hotspot). This doesn't affect Android Auto (or CarPlay) as these both work over a combination of Bluetooth and P2P WiFi. To forget a Wi-Fi network on an Android device, you can do the following: Open your device's Settings app Tap Network & internet Touch and hold a saved network Tap Forget -
Any chance of tracking one of these down for the 2022+ refreshed?

Why are my tires loud AF?!?!?!?!
N715DP replied to wahoowad's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
I second all of this, it was an eye (ear) opening experience for me when I first started going with MT's on my Jeep many years ago. -
I know there are a ton of tow mirror discussions but I didn't see anything along these lines. Yesterday, I saw a late model 2500HD with tow mirrors - but they were very basic - no spot lights, no blind spot, no turn signal. The forward-facing side did have markers and/or signals (couldn't tell). My question is - I have basic mirrors on my RST - no signal, no blind spot, no forward-facing signals - does anyone think these would work without major wiring? On top of that, anyone have a clue on part numbers for the "base" towing mirrors?

I decided to bite the bullet on the Tractor Supply "stall mat" I linked above. It's just the right amount of sticky so far and it's incredibly thick/durable. Sure, I loose a little bit of bed height (3/4th inch) but I'm not at all worried about that. The fit is good - width is just about an inch "too narrow" for the wheel wells. Length, I had to cut about 2.5 inches off for the tailgate to close nicely. For $60 versus hundreds for a too-sticky GM mat, I'm good to go.

Has anyone else felt that the spray-in bed liner is too slippery? I just got back from taking my dad to the airport and his hard-side suitcase slid all over the bed (no, I wasn't driving like an a$$). It's relatively slick and things move around a lot. I know there are nets and 2x4's and such to hold things in place but I'm curious if anyone else has been annoyed by this? Any thoughts on a means of making it a bit more tacky? Perhaps some spray-on Plasti-dip - a light "dusting" of it? I also thought about just getting a rubber mat for the bed but I hated that in my Avalanche because it was too sticky... yes, I can't be satisfied, LOL. Curious about others thoughts/opinions/suggestions. Easiest solution is probably this 4x6 mat from Tractor Supply and just lop off a few inches of it to fit. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/4-ft-x-6-ft-x-3-4-in-thick-rubber-stall-mat

What Have You Done With Your T1 Today ?????
N715DP replied to Sierra Dan's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Made and installed my own "Spring Things" and then took a quick test drive - ZERO clunk from the rear springs! 1/4" sheet of rubber from Amazon for less than $15 (at the time of purchase) - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YR75F2Y Cut into 6" long x 3.5" wide pieces. Mark 3/4" "notches on each and cut. Result is about 2" wide for the "long part". Drill holes and thread zip ties. Install with a "wonder bar" after lifting the truck via the hitch receiver - took less than 30 minutes total. My neighbor thought I was nuts because after driving around a bit I kept backing into my driveway over and over again to test at different angles and such. -
Not sure which ones you ordered from Amazon but I picked up the ones in the link below - as you mentioned, they are not "flush", however, they fit very well and look like they belong there. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNL2QPGH
