    It's worth a bit of your time to check out the HID Planet forum. Putting HIDs in a reflector headlight makes for uncontrolled light scatter which glares into everyone else's eyes on the road. You about tripled your light output and halved your control of it. It's pleasing and entertaining to the person in the vehicle with the HIDs in the reflector lights, but blinding to oncoming drivers. Enough so that it can cause them to loose sight of the road surface and go off the road, especially outside of town in dark areas. I'm in Socal and both you and I see many people with HIDs in reflector headlights in town. On a big wide, well lit boulevard, it is just irritating to oncoming traffic and in rearview mirrors of people in front of you. On a dark, narrow highway, it could be much worse for someone. Some things to consider for your fellow drivers that share the roads with you. It's a hazard, and it's real.     Swap the relays and see if the problem goes with the relay. If it does, you need a relay. If it stays on the same side, swap bulbs. If it still stays on the same side, swap ballasts ...etc.

    Has anyone that has this issue on a 4wd tried to drive it with the rear driveshaft removed to test for the vibration?

    The fast warm up must be due to the 50 watt ballasts. The Morimoto 35 watt ballasts take about a minute or more to get my bulbs to full color.

    Thi, When a ballast starts up, the current draw is at its maximum. If the wire you cut is just twisted together, it may have more resistance. The fog light circuit may be near its limit during the start up of the ballast and the extra resistance might not allow enough current flow to sustain the ballast thru the warm up. I'd recommend soldering that wire together and trying it again. If that doesn't work, you should just use a relay to power the lights. First try to solder the repaired wire.

    That's pretty trick. What/when do you use that? I think it'll get you in big trouble in a hurry if you do that stuff on the road. There are laws in every state about flashing lights for emergency vehicles only.

    This is a factory Sierra projector (one) with a Morimoto 3Five (35 watt) kit installed. Pretty decent beam pattern for a non-HID projector, IMO. There are better beam patterns from some of the better HID projectors, but this isn't bad for a kit conversion.

    He talked about it, but it doesn't apply to your reflector headlight assembly. You'll need to bake it, split it open, auger out the back of the reflector and either epoxy in the reflector, or if you're lucky you might be able to run some screws thru the plastic reflector. So, no. There are no 'standard' screw patterns for what you'd need to do. It's much more 'homey' than that. I recommend poking around the HID Planet forum for a while to get an idea of what it would take. The method needed is similar to most other reflector type headlight retrofits.

    I took my truck on the first trip out of town this weekend. I went from L.A. down to Yuma for a dove shoot. Most of the trip down was in the dark. The lights got a good test on dark roads. I currently have a HID kit in OEM projectors. They definitely have adequate low beam lighting to the sides. My high beams trigger the extra LED lights and that worked great. It really burned a hole in the night. Having the circuit wired to shut off/turn on all the LED lights with the high beam switch is a great way to go. No fumbling around when oncoming traffic approaches. Just one natural movement to dim all the lights. Im working on a set of projectors to retrofit to further enhance the low beams.

    I was in a Auto Zone today. They had several different types of blue tinted halogen bulbs for H11.

    There's a thread on halogen bulbs. But I dont recall seeing any colored bulbs for the headlights that are as bright as the original bulbs.

    Matt, Is the buzzing just after turning on the lights for the first minute? Or is it all the time? When I bought my kit a couple months ago, I called and asked what to buy. They recommended the capacitor link in lieu of the CanBus links. I get ballast humming/buzzing for the first 20-30 seconds, then it goes away.

    I'm really having a hard time understanding the math involved. $40,000 truck + $40 unsupported offshore product = use to be $40,000 truck, that doesn't run? Hmmm, I might rip the $40 product out, ball it up and throw it in a fire. Just me.

    Fondupot I've been taking pix along the way for that reason. I had read about all the projectors and this one was voted as the one most liked on HID Planet forum or one of them. Has a big following because of the wide beam and relatively small size. It doesn't have the super straight sharp cutoff like the FX-R, but it is known to be wider. I've been in contact with TRS about improving the beam further. I'm not to concerned about super sharp/straight cutoff, mostly the actual light function for my long trips on long lonely highways at night. It's going to need an adapter plate, which I've already layed out the RX pattern for. I'm just waiting to borrow a GMC projector for the other pattern, then I'll have them laser cut. I'll make sure they save the program in case it actually works out. Maybe someone else might want a set or two. Ah hell, it'd probably be a few bucks more to just run several sets to start with.

    OK, I've been reading and finally got the clear STi-R lens seated by opening the lens mount I.D.. I also cut off the tabs on the shutter than limit the color in the center. Some focus adjustment and this is the result.

    That high beams pattern doesn't look like factory projectors. What kind of headlight projectors do you have? I don't know if you noticed, but your left headlight is higher than the right. The usual setting is opposite. The left should be set so it doesn't glare into oncoming traffic then the right is either set slightly higher or the same.
