  1. I've been told there is no user-serviceable fuel filter on those trucks. The filter is a strainer-sleeve type inside the fuel tank with the fuel pump and fuel gage float.
  2. Ryan, are your Goodyear tires still ok? Did they ever figure out what was causing the problem?
  3. Duplicate post deleted.
  4. Can’t forget this one, either.
  5. Can’t forget this one.
  6. Hank I-II-III, Patsy Cline, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, Willie & Waylon, Dwight Yoakum, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Shania Twain, Sara Evans, etc. Can't much stand the new 'country music' that is rap music wearing a cowboy hat.
  7. Some of those folks probably couldn't find Iowa on a map of the U.S. Heck, some of them probably couldn't find the U.S. of A. on a map of the world, for that matter.
  8. "1974 Trans Am SD-455". Nice!
  9. It's about time. The democrats don't run the country anymore to ramrod everything the unions want. And their corrupt union leaders are being arrested. If you don't like the job, go somewhere else. Them that works eats. There will be no tears shed for the UAW around here, ever. The workers that REALLY got screwed were the Canadians and Mexicans who got laid off during the Americans' paid vacation. And you probably don't want to buy an American-made GM vehicle produced in the next 3+ months, until they get over their self-righteous pity-party hissy-fit.
  10. If you're concerned enough about power levels to ask the question, and you have the funds to pay the increased cost of the 6.2L, that's the way you'll want to go. Otherwise, you'll be like me, always thinking "I should have ordered a 6.2L instead of buying a 5.3L off the lot." The 5.3L isn't bad, but it's no Hemi and it's certainly no 6.2L. The above comment about durability makes no sense to me. The 6.2L and 5.3L share the same architecture, materials, and assembly methods, and cylinder deactivation systems. If anything, the 6.2L would be more durable because it would spend less time at full throttle when being pushed hard. There's no substitute for bigger bore/longer stroke. That's what she says, anyway.
  11. Thanks. Yeah, 4th generation oilfield and trucking family here.
  12. Once again y'all are having a p1ssing contest, trying to show who knows more about oil on here. Hasn't happened for a couple of weeks, so I guess we were overdue for another battle. Doing your best to change GM-Trucks.com into BITOG #2. By the way, Grumpy, is there a subject in the universe that you're not the subject matter expert on? Asking for a friend. Endless arguing over what oil is the best and you're a fool of you don't use ABC brand, etc. But just because some of you are dealers, quit trying to force AMSoil or your brand of choice on the rest of us. Mobil1 used to be king, not anymore. Times change. Shell Rotella Gas Truck is working great for my needs. Whatever. Use whatever brand of quality oil and filter that makes you happy and move on. I said it before, and I'll say it again--the bottom line is ANY quality oil and filter are probably better engineered and have better quality control than most of our GM engines. (Or probably just any other manufacturer these days.) Half-baked engineering transferred into the cheapest parts available that are assembled with indifferent tolerances--that does not bode well for Joe Buyer. You can obsess over AMSoil or Redline or Shaeffer or WalMart synthetic or Pennzoil conventional, but if your engine parts were made/assembled by a disgruntled UAW worker on a Monday morning or Friday afternoon or day before/after a holiday or during a full moon, chances are it'll go BOOM sometime, no matter what you pour in it and when, and there ain't a damned thing we can do about that. . . Submitted from the bad rings/bad lifters/pitted cam section. All while using quality oil/filters meeting or exceeding OE specs.
  13. That's because many of the fools on this forum have no idea what hard work on a 24-hour jobsite or multi-hour emergency site is and what all those trucks really have to be used for. And obviously, GM management increasingly has no clue, either. If a few snowflake tools want to kill themselves by running their Denalis in their garages with the door down, because their Starbucks foo-foo coffee drink wasn't made correctly that morning or Hunter Biden is being picked on or some other 'critical' issue like that, let them. You can't fix stupid. And it thins out the idiot herd that the rest of us have to deal with. But make our damned trucks work like we need them to, 24/7/365.
  14. ^^^^ THIS ^^^^. Our rural, small-town GM dealer used to order all of the anniversary editions, pace car editions, 2004-2006 GTOs, SSRs, etc., all of the gee-whiz new models coming off the General's assembly lines. While those models did drive some showroom traffic, for the most part, they sat there in the showroom for a year or longer, until they were finally traded to another dealer for a HD truck or such. The worst were 2 little Buick Cascada convertibles. It took them 2 1/2 years to get rid of them. The sales manager said "never again!" on those. Now they have new owners and only stock the high-volume models that sell quickly. You can special order a gee-whiz limited edition, but they'll make you put down a significant deposit on it before they'll place your order.
  15. That's funny. Last year's NASCAR Cup Champion drove a yellow car that said PENNZOIL all over it. Guess that means Pennzoil is the best, if you believe all that marketing hype crap. Which I don't. In my old age, I go by the product, not by the pusher.
  16. Too bad the hard workers in Mexico and Canada had to be affected by the greedy union fat cats here. Also too bad that GM released their health benefits. Now the strikers can be on vacation for as long as they want.
  17. Ok, AMSoil is good. So is Royal Purple. But GM's own Dexos-rated oil and Shell Rotella Gas Truck motor oil are just as good or better for 99% of the people out there, they are cheaper, and the Shell oil is readily available at WalMart nationwide; so you don't have to pay dealer or parts store prices. If you're not entering pulling contests or races, it is more important for Joe/Jill Public to change their oil at the OLM-indicated intervals (or sooner!) with a quality oil and filter than it is to spend 10,000 hours studying oil videos on YouTube. After all, even mediocre engine oil is manufactured with better quality control than GM's AFM lifters.
  18. Numerous posts on here that those outlets are made for recharging a laptop computer, etc, at the most. Those who have tried household appliances like small refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, electric drills, etc, have been disappointed.
