So it was my Saturday to work, so I called in a favor and had one of my techs swap out the rims and tires, and reprogram the TPMS. This is the only photo of the truck I got before the rain and darkness fell. Before anyone else tells me, I know It's time for a wash!!
Revisiting Mod #8. I had friend of a coworker buy the wrong lift kit for his Colorado, so I was able to pick up a brand new MotoFab 3"/2" leveling kit for $120. My stock heights were as follows Driver Ft: 35 3/8, Pass frt: 35 1/2 Driver Rr: 39 1/4, Pass Rr: 38 1/2 Finally got the time to get the MotoFab 3/2 leveling kit installed on the truck today! New fender height measurements are as follows Driver Front: 38 3/4, Pass front: 38 1/2 Driver Rear: 40 3/4, Pass Rear: 40 3/8
You know what, you are correct. I hadn't noticed till you asked, but those lights don't have the locking nut behind them to hold them in place. That's my mistake. What you would need is something like these, which have a threaded back, so you would be able to tighten it against the back side of the bumper. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CMN6FD5/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_7?smid=AQU08BEB4MN2K&psc=1 These look a little bit larger https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CWQZ212/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07CWQZ212&pd_rd_w=lelbM&pf_rd_p=45a72588-80f7-4414-9851-786f6c16d42b&pd_rd_wg=9TmC9&pf_rd_r=TEFM1K3KC8J7P5GCRASP&pd_rd_r=21117b32-a1e3-456a-95e8-2e60bbb7809f&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEySkRMTEwyUkMxTThMJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDQ4MzAyMTMwSExJQTQ3Vlg2RiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjk3MDg5MjZQNk5DWktDSllMTyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2RldGFpbCZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
This is the gray wire I tapped, so they operate the same as the overhead domes. If you want yours to operated as the ambient lights, then you'd want to tap the other wire which has the arrow pointed at it. Keep in mind, I DIDN'T use the OEM led's but rather the much larger 194 bulbs. They are NOT subtle at all.
I would imagine you could get pretty trick with them, depending on how much time you want to invest in it. You could have the outer one on either side, front (amber) and back (red) tapped into the turn signals. Then middle ones in the rear could be tapped into the brake lights (red). The front middle ones you could use white, and have them on tapped from the headlights, or on an independent switch. It all depends on how much time and imagination you want to invest.
I'm not sure what you're going for (purpose of the lights) but i think it's a really interesting idea.. I was looking at this thread here a while ago, and I'm thinking maybe these bolt led lights might fill that hole pretty well. I'm thinking these might be rather easy to use, once you find the size and color you're looking for. Please keep us posted and let us know how it turns out.
I finally put the finishing touches on the foot well light install. Most of the info I used can be found on this thread I also have more detailed information on my build thread (Link in my sig) There are some more photos taken during install that I have't had a chance to upload yet, if you get stuck at any point.
Congratulations! I loved the changes their EFI Live tune made on my 03. I can't wait to get my 19 tuned up by them! I'm not sure how similar their tune packages are between EFI Live and Autocal. Do they still have min Octane tune type of packages?
I just completed doing my foot well lights, based off of all the good information from this thread. I used 194 sockets in the same locations the smaller OEM LEDs and tapped the gray wire for them to work the same as the dome lights. I used 194 LEDs that are possibly too bright. Will insert photos as soon as I get them loaded.
