  1. Got new bump stops for the rear axle. They're not OEM but there at least something. The old one rotted away over a year ago but I didn't worry about it until I moved to a dirt road and I'm hauling stuff constantly. Had my truck scanned again for the "Service Air Bag" message and the light was on this time...still no codes, must be the scanner...dang! I guess I will have to go to the dealer as I doubt any of the shops around here have a scanner that can capture air bag error codes.
  2. Looks good Sarah, I should start touching mine up. Paint job is starting to get pretty beat up.
  3. Day 1 of diagnose of "Service Air Bag" message with corresponding light: Took to auto parts store, light not on, crap load of codes but none dealing with Air Bag....nuts! Got home, disconnected battery, waited, then checked every connection I could think of to deal with air bag, all "looked" good. I did note there is a metal track running under both seats with a sensor looking thing that glide over it as seat moves back and forth. Passenger side was brand new looking but a little dusty, cleaned it up, looks good Driver side, the metal rail is covered in surface rust and gobbed up with dust dirt and who knows what else. Cleaned it all up except rust. Does this metal rail have anything to do with the air bag? Would the rust on the rail cause problems of any sort (air bag or otherwise)? I will continue to try to get it scanned when the idiot light is actually on so I can capture a code, nothing I can do until then I guess.
  4. Starting the diagnosing of a Service Air Bag light. It was only coming on for the initial start up of the truck everyday. Now it seems it coming on whenever it feels like it. Hopefully can get it scanned while the stupid light is on so they capture the code. I have a feeling it's a sensor up front but want to be sure before spending the money.
  5. To go along with what txab is saying, key on, engine off, take reading. Then turn key off, take reading and continue to monitor to see if pressure stays up, drops some and stops or continues dropping. What you will want to see is the pressure staying put and in the correct range. With the pump running I believe the pressure should be around 55-62 psi. When the key is turned off it will drop a bit but if it drops to less than about 50 psi you may be having a fuel pump problem. I apologize as I do not have the exact psi rating, just what I remembered from somewhere.
  6. Got more stuff out of the storage unit yesterday. I'd like to say I'm making progress but the front half was the easy part, all the heavy bulky crap was loaded in the back half...
  7. What I meant was if I have a 1,600lb load capacity what does that number tell me I can tow? Nothing, I still have to know what the truck can tow apart from load capacity. What I said what you have to know load capacity to subtract it was max trailer weight but load capacity tells you nothing more than what the truck can haul not tow.
  8. Payload and towing capacity are not the same. The only correlation is the more you have in the bed the less you can have in the trailer, but if a truck is rated for 9,000 plus pounds what does checking your payload lead to a such a surprise. My truck is rated for 7,400 lbs and a load capacity of 1,600 lbs. So if I don't load up the bed or the cab, only me and my fuel I only subtract a few hundred lbs...say maybe 400 lbs max. So my towing capacity would drop down to 7,000 lbs, not accounting for tongue weight of course.
  9. I have, several times as I own one. I also have towed enclosed trailers, cargo trails, motorcycle trailer, dump trailers............ What's your question?
  10. Changed engine oil, finally tally, 9,500 miles before the OLM told me to change. That's the farthest I have ever gone on an oil change in this truck. Oil still looked pretty good but I know looks can be deceiving.
  11. Once your done with this truck I think you'll have a tank. There are times I seriously wonder how my truck is still going so strong. Use, abuse, fix and maintain and still she fires right up and can still hit 20mpg on the highway.
  12. Holy crap, someone forgot to read about prevenitive maintenance prior to you owning the truck. I have 130k miles on factory wires and don't look bad at all. Those plugs look like they could be original too...wow!
  13. Moving to my new place. It's off a dirt road and with the rain storm we had last night the truck is filthy again. At one point the truck stopped moving forward but tires were turning so some of my stuff got a little mud covered as well.
  14. I am confused with this line. You talk about P to D and from D to R but what is this about 2H? Are you in 4wd when you have these problems? Do you have the same problems when it's in 2wd?
  15. Finally back from the road trip to California. Another 5k miles on the odometer. My truck is still full of crap to off load once I sign the lease on the new place. Then the fun of emptying out the storage unit...ugh!!! Also I'm past due for an oil change so I've got to get that done as well.
  16. We are definitely hitting up Vegas. The wife has family there. Can't complain about free accommodations. Most I have to do is some cooking & dishes...fair trade to me.
  17. Cool, I don't know what all the plans are but if there's some extra time we may have to head your way.
  18. Getting the truck ready for a road trip to California. I head out next week and will be towing my wife's Jeep back. Should be a great vacation.
  19. Already cleared of the MEB. This a newish problem.
  20. Jacksonville NAS. Only about 2.5 hours drive with traffic & construction.
  21. Took a bunch of stuff to a storage unit. Then had to move some sign stanchions...again. Tomorrow is a paid road trip to Florida. Get to see my orthopedic doc again. My hip hurts worse than ever.
  22. I think the driver's vent is the last to get the air from the blower. Mine is the same way. When i don't have anyone riding with me I tend to close off some of the other vents and it increases flow quite a bit.
  23. Maybe a little restriction....
  24. Got to haul around some signs for a ceremony that were having next week. Not much of a load but at least it wasn't the replacement broom stick from before...oh wait that was in there too...oh well.
