  1. My 2009 Cadillac CTS w/6-sp is same, no dipstick. GM is trying to keep the aftermarket business for themselves and they make it difficult for owners to find aftermarket products and to service the vehicles.
  2. There is a real easy way to tell. Look at it. Its not a standard Z71 part, comes on the Z60 performance suspension (Denali etc)
  3. What many people don't take into consideration is that there is a throttle valve connected to your gas pedal that is constantly restricting the air flow into the engine and the computer determines how much fuel to mix with the air. The only time it is not restricting the airflow is when it is wide open throttle (WOT). That means that you are buying a modification that helps you race or pass at WOT, its benefit is trivial in normal everyday driving.
  4. While that seems like a logical explanation I doubt if its true. The train cars are enclosed so getting to the vehicles is not easy. Whats more many trucks ship now with 20's so those would be just as tempting at 22's to thieves. Camaros are shipping with 22's. It more has to do with the assemmbly plant not set up to work with those size wheels and low profile tires. Since the amount of them being ordered is relatively small compared to the big picture, its offered as LPO (Limited Production Option). Cheaper to let the dealer install than retool the assembly plant for an LPO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL0ab-KvFCo
  5. Plan on 8 weeks min. It may get built in 4-6 weeks but they have no control over the distribution/shipping process and that may take several weeks depending on what part of the country it has to travel to. CC's are coming from Silao Mexico and thats down close to Mexico City so it has to travel almost a 1,000 miles to reach the border. Someone posted this somewhere I cannot recall: DOSP - Dealer Order Submission Process The weekly process consists of 4 stages. 1. Constraints Distribution - Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders. (A Constraint is a limit placed on an specific build configurations.) 2. Dealer Order Submission - Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don't know the constraints. 3. The 4-Pass Process - GM will attempt to place each dealers orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than was allocated if they asked.) 4. Dealer Review-You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That's when the orders are sent to production control.
  6. Maybe the GM Dexron VI stuff does but not the synthetic I use.

  8. I never reset it in any of my vehicles, the aveage mpg is the only thing of importance to me. My last truck was a 2010 Sierra All Terrain 5.3L E cab and in the 24,000 miles the aveage readout was 17.7 but I also drove almost 1/2 of those miles in winter using AUTO 4x4 mode all the time. The All Terrain pkg rode too rough for my taste. I too never bought it for mileage, needed a CC for business and wanted a top line truck w/o AFM.
  9. 2012 AWD Sierra Denali 2,300 miles since new (3/27/12) and average mpg is 17.8. One 500 mile and 2-200 mile trips, 55-65 mph 2-lane, no hot-rodding, use cruise all the time, Shell premium 91 octane primarely but a tank or two of Murphy 93 (WM) mixed in, no E85 around here. No mods planned except all AMSOIL 100% synthetic fluids going in before 5,000 miles. That raised my awd CTS4 mpg nearly 1 mpg.
  10. Additives should not be used as fluid life will be compromised. Adding anything foreign to your oil can change its viscosity. Some types of after-market oil additives cause a quite high viscosity at operating temperature. While an additive might improve bearing wear, it can often cause poorer upper-end wear. People selling oil additives may be sincere, but they don't have to live with the results. They simply smile a lot on the way to the bank. I was just reading an article about Lucas and something caught my attention. The article said this. "Lucas Oil's not-so-secret ingredients are self-reliance and shrewd marketing", nothing said about superior products..
  11. I just wonder if any of the engines that are consuming oil if anyone tried a engine oil flush product? A friends claims his oil consumption went away for thousands of miles after using a (non-chemical) engine flush and changing the oil to synthetic which has was not using before. It sounds like maybe the oil rings get deposits when the AFM cylinders shut down and it forms on the rings allowing oil to be consumed because the rings are not sealing properly. He says he was using a qt or more per 1000 miles and went to using none in 3,000 miles (ps-did not use synthetic oil). He got the advice to try this from a GMC tech friend who had a customer with oil consumption problems tell him it worked on his engine. I hesitate to mention the product as it would be construed by many as just advertising and I realize one or two instances does not prove anything as people tend to exaggerate about product effectiveness.
  12. The only thing on my CTS that gives a clue to it being AWD is the +4 in the CTS+4 emblem on rear deck lid. Nothing inside the car or anywhere says awd. You can PM me the complete VIN and I will run a check to see what it says Also check the 5th character in the VIN, if a 4wd or AWD it will be the letter K. 2wd will be a C
  13. Denali is all wheel drive, only way they come.......................No button or anything because it can't be turned on or off, its all wheel drive meaning all 4 wheels are powering all the time. Sierra Denali AWD Yukon Denali AWD Yukon Denal XL AWD Escalade AWD Btw-My 2009 Cadillac CTS4 is all wheel drive
