  1. ...from 1976...back then Mobil 1 claimed 25,000 mile oci. I recall because I got interested in using Synthetic oil from that magazine and was using Mobil 1 but is was regionally marketed and not easy to find. One day I stumbled upon a gas station selling AMSOIL and been using it ever since.
  2. You all realize GM only recommends what make them money. They would be fools to do otherwise.
  3. I have AMSOIL ATL in the 8sp trans........I never had any problems but I changed it out before 10,000 miles because I always do.
  4. When you place an order with a dealer, the status is 1100. UNTIL Chevrolet ACCEPTS the order, it just sits there at 1100. You don't have an order with GM at this point. You only have a dealer requesting an allocation for a slot in the production schedule. Your dealer MUST get GM to accept the order. When GM accepts the order, all the parts are available and will be allocated to your truck build. DOSP - Dealer Order Submission Process The weekly process consists of 4 stages. 1. Constraints Distribution - Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders. (A Constraint is a limit placed on specific build configurations.) 2. Dealer Order Submission - Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don't know the constraints.) 3. The 4-Pass Process - GM will attempt to place each dealer’s orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than was allocated, if they asked.) 4. Dealer Review - You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That's when the orders are sent to production control.
  5. I have used AMSOIL for 40 yrs and NEVER changed oil less the 15,000 miles. For those who demand the best and KNOW the difference.
  6. Transmission temperature is dictated by the transmission oil itself. If you are so concerned with the temps then dump the low bidder supplier OEM fluid for a high end 100% synthetic ATF. Yet some will spend time and money installing high capacity trans coolers and but the minimum (OEM) quality ATF and never changing it. Some even advocating to NEVER change it. You realize the same company who designs and implements the AFM system is the same that designs lube specs, right?
  7. fyi...............................
  8. There are 2 wire harness's you need, rt and lt, if the truck did not come with that function. Those are another $200-$300, so I am told by local GM parts guy who said he called GMSO on it.
  9. I am curious' is this truck 100% stock or do you have oversize tires, suspension lift etc?
  10. There's a reason they don't make them, they are not all that popular and really never were since about 2000ish. Sales do not justify all the costs that go into putting out a model with low sales. Look at the Impala, sales are way down and they built the last one this past Thursday.
  11. The dealer has no way of knowing with certainty how long it will take to get built and delivered. They are all just giving a best guess estimate based on prior experience. But many things can affect this; work stoppages, parts shortages, option constraints, logistics, mother nature, and the most important delay, dealer allocations. I forget where I got this but it explains the process;
  12. You can check out this forum. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=415251 Check it out there is a lot of info to be there.. There is a Chevy sales person (site sponsor) who will get you a status update but she needs an order number. US dealers cannot get anything on Canadian orders. She only can give you the status code. She can't (nor can anyone at GM Chat) see anything about the order, just what stage its in per the system. The system updates overnight and is down on Sundays for routine maintenance (no access), so the next update will occur overnight Monday next week. The system is internal GM and not intended for public consumption.

  14. Just hit 30,000 miles on my 2017 Sierra Denali 6.2L and I have not used any oil, nada. Currently 10,000 on this oil change (5,000 to go) and the level is still where is was 10,000 miles ago. I change oil once a year which comes to approx. 15,000 miles and I use 100% Synthetic (AMSOIL 0W-20 Signature since 5,000 mi). This is the 3rd vehicle I have owned with AFM (2010, 2015) and NONE of them used oil. Am I lucky or is it my choice of using the best oil? I am sure it the oil I use but continue to pinch pennies and but whats good enough. PS, using same brand of oil for over 40 yrs.
  15. Unfortunately these new engines use technology that is hard on engines and oil. Active Fuel Management, Dynamic Fuel Management, start stop, variable vavle timings, turbo charging, ecoboost etc. All these new technologies put a lot of stress on the oil. Not all oils are up to the task and that's why GM and other oem's have been pushing for better oil specifications to be developed. Yet there are a lot of oil companies who continue to market "good enough" products and customers who refuse to spend the money continue to buy these "good enough" products for their expensive vehicles/engines. They think frequent oil changes are cheap insurance but in reality, cheap oil is the problem. Why do you think some oils are cheaper? Where do you think they cut the corners? Did they use cheaper oil base stocks and additive packages? Less highly trained engineers? Did they cut back on quality control? How can they afford to spends millions of $$ on advertising and still make money if they claim their oil is best?
  16. The strike screwed up all parts channels........
  17. Yesterdays business should have updated overnight. Its not real time.....
  18. That's because the Elevation is really a SLE+ and you have to get an SLT, AT4 or Denali to get a 6.2L engine.
  19. That's the way its designed. Having fog lights on with the brights serves no useful purpose. Fog lights are designed to illuminate the road so you can see through the fog better. When the brights are on it makes seeing more difficult in the fog. Fog lights are for safer driving not to over power oncoming traffic with more headlight power.
  20. Don't have one, thought I did but all I have it Chevrolet Parts catalogs for 1992.
